Kazuya quickly brought Lethia away from the room.
He knew if they stayed there any longer, she would cause a fuss. The moment they were out of sight, however, Lethia threw her arms around him, "H—hey? Wait..."
"Don't let me go. It's not fair; I met you first. Why does Lyn get to have you?"
The usually strong, cold and indifferent First Princess of the Mist Kingdom has quite a childish personality. Honestly, it surprised Kazuya a little. The woman who he saved was anything but fragile. Then again Lyn is the same way, though she acts strong. But at least Lyn doesn't deliberately act delicate - she naturally is. However, Lethia is different, though they weren't close. Kazuya has heard a lot of rumors about the girl.
He knew that the girl was naturally indifferent like the rumors said. The mask she hides behind is this childish personality. The Sound Kingdom elders warmed him before that this woman is not as simple as she looked. She's used this trick on plenty of men before.
Honestly, he doubted the credibility of the rumors, but at the same time, Kazuya knew he couldn't trust it. His thoughts broke off when he felt Lyn's curious gaze peeking through the door.
Kazuya removed Lethia away from him and walked back over to Lyn, "I already said no, don't mind."
"I do mind," Lyn turned red, "I want nobody to touch you."
".."
Kazuya stared at the girl in disbelief, is she crazy? Or maybe it's him who is insane. Lyn is always very open about her emotions. Fake relationship or not, Lyn's honest feelings touched his heart.
He brushed his forehead against hers, "Yeah, the same goes for me. So if Rhys does get near you, use your dagger."
Lyn hits him playfully, "Dummy."
Fully aware that Lethia was still watching them, he turned back to the girl. He could not read the expression on the girl's face. She said nothing and just glanced at the two of them back and forth.
A deep sigh passed her lips, "I see, how stupid."
Lyn tugged on his sleeves, "Older sister?" she called out, uncertainty filled her tone.
"Since you're here now. I'll tell you straight up, Lyn. I was the one who sent those assassins after you."
Wait what?
Lethia sighed, "Honestly child you're giving me a headache. If you just remained confined in that place, I wouldn't have to do anything to you. But not only did you not stay put, your gathering quite the attention in Town. 'A girl that looks like a Princess,' 'Secret member of royalty' 'But she's very kind..'"
Kazuya sweat fell, as he expected. Lyn's increased visits to the Town have attracted more people's attention than necessary. He figured this would happen, but he didn't think that the people would start calling her a Princess. But Kazuya preferred to take her to Town then out of it. There are plenty of open areas that are just filled with fields; however, that's too risky. He avoids it unless Rhys is coming with them too. Kazuya avoided the last one as much as possible after all since Rhys doesn't hesitate to flirt with Lyn even in front of him.
Just as he said that somebody tosses a knife in Lethia's direction, the girl moved away, but it briefly grazed her cheek. A fresh wound dripped down on her cheek.
"So the eyesore came too," Lethia said irritated.
Kazuya turned and noticed Rhys walking over; his friend wore formal looking garments. He must have gone to a business meeting. Rhys hardly wore formal clothes unless it was necessary. Guess he can discuss it with him later.
Kazuya frowned when Rhys brushed his hand on Lyn's cheek, "You okay?"
"Ah, yes."
Hey, what's with this mood between them? Kazuya pulled Lyn into his arms and wrapped his arms around the girl protectively. Soft laughter passed Lyn's lips; the girl seemed confused but went along with it.
"Princess Lethia, with all due respect. Aren't you acting like a child? Just because you found out Kazuya was hanging around Lyn, you sent a group of assassins after your own sister," Rhys glared at the woman. Kazuya's eyes widened as he registered this piece of information. That's the reason why Lyn got attacked? It was because of him?
Lyn, however, hugged him tighter and shook her head, "Not your fault, big sister is just stupid."
Kazuya laughed at how easily she said it. Gee this girl really doesn't hold back hmm? But he supposes that's the easiest way, to sum up, Lethia's behavior right now before any more words could be exchanged, however, they hear the sound of heavy and rushing footsteps.
Soon a voice yelled, "Lethia! What are you doing?" An angry looking Prince Andrew appeared in the doorway. He scanned the situation, and the frown on his face deepened. He walked over and yanked the girl's arm, "Don't be stupid; you two are still sisters."
Lethia laughed in a mocking tone, "Haha, that's a good one."
"Please don't cause problems, were in the middle of entertaining a guest."
"More like keeping a leash on him."
Andrew tightened his grip on the girl's arm. "Ouch, ouch. Why are you so cruel about this? You dote on Lyn way too much," Lethia complained.
"It does not look good if sisters are out to kill each other. Lyn is under my care. If you pull another stunt as you did, you'll be going against me," though the Prince said this calmly. Kazuya sensed the sudden spark in his aura. It was brief, but it felt almost suffocating.
Kazuya noticed that Lyn didn't flinch despite the crushing presence, he paused. Can she not sense it? Then again Lyn displayed such signs before. This girl is powerful, stronger than him, Prince Andrew and maybe even Queen Orthez though the latter is something that they can test another time.
Sorry for the short chapter, I had to cut this from the original longer length version. This seemed to be a good stopping point. Author is really stressed recently but I'll do my best to post more.
