Chapter 10: I Can’t Stop Thinking About Him

Thoughts of Jiang Li whirled in my head as I sat on the sofa. I tried to make myself forget about him but it wasn't working at all. "Ugh!! What's wrong with me?!" I shouted at myself.

"Girl, are you ok?" asked Xi Fang. I suddenly remembered that she was sitting right next to me.

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just that something's been in my head lately," I replied nonchalantly.

"Oooh is it a boy?" she asked.

I rolled my eyes and flicked Wang Fang in the head. with my fingers. "It's been three days since you got out of the hospital. You should be resting, not thinking about boys," I reprimanded. "It's also time to take your medicine," I said as I went to fetch a glass of water.

"You know, you don't have to skip school just to stay home and take care of me," said Xi Fang. "My parents said I can move back home for a little while so they can care for me."

"Don't be ridiculous. You're my best friend, and I don't want to give auntie and uncle Fang a hard time." The truth was, I did care a lot about Xi Fang, but I was just scared to go back to school due to all the people who hated me. I used taking care of Xi Fang as an excuse to stay home.

"Speaking of my parents," said Xi Fang. "They're coming over this afternoon at 6 to check on me. They're way too worried for no reason." I immediately froze. I still haven't talked to Xi Fang's parents ever since the car crash and I still wasn't ready to face them. My mind desperately grasped a new subject.

Oh yeah, I'm getting some groceries today. Do you need anything?" I asked.

"Oooh, get me a big packet of those spicy chips we ate before," said Xi Fang.

"You're whole face turned red the last time you ate those," I said.

"That's the fun of it," she replied. The corners of my lips turned up. Things were kind of going back to normal after the car crash.

-At The Grocery Store-

"Hmm, it says that these carrots are organic," I murmured to myself. I was looking for vegetables to make some delicious soup for Xi Fang once I got back to our apartment. I turned around and felt exasperated at the sight in front of me. It was Bao-Zhi waving at me. Did he seriously have to come to the grocery store on the same day as me? I quickly threw a packet of carrots in my cart and started speed-walking to the check-out counter. I looked behind me to see if Bao-Zhi was following me and sighed a breath of relief when I saw that he was gone. I quickly took my grocery bags and walked out of the store.

"Wang Shu!" I looked behind me and saw Bao-Zhi jogging towards me. "What a coincidence to see you here," he said. He grinned and I rolled my eyes at that cheesy smile on his face.

"Yeah, what a small world," I grumbled. Bao-Zhi looked down at my bags.

"I'll help you carry those," he said

"No thanks, I'm good."

"Wow, you're still as stubborn as before," laughed Bao-Zhi.

I forced out a fake giggle. "Yeah..those good old days." I started walking away but Bao-Zhi grabbed my arm. I groaned at his strong grip. "Stop! That hurts!" I cried out.

"I'm tired of this Wang Shu. I'm tired of chasing after you. Having to endure all this pain every time I see your beautiful face," he shouted. "Come back to me!" he yelled.

I dropped my bags because of the intensity of the moment. "Let go!" I screamed as his grip started to make my skin sting.

"I love you Wang Shu!" shouted Bao-Zhi.

"I LOVE HER MORE!" Bao-Zhi and I both turned our heads.
