Chapter 12: Godly Figures
Thud! Thud! Thud!*
Lei Mu's heart pounded as if it was a war drum. In front of her was their Patriarch, Patriarch Lei talking to someone with respect.
Respect? The godly Patriarch of the Lei Clan is currently speaking someone with respect? Lei Mu dazingly thought.
The moment she opened her eyes, she actually caught a glance at Patriarch Lei and Patriarch Yun lowering their heads in respect. She initially ignored it and thought that it was her mind playing with her. Who could have blamed her? Patriarchs are one of the tops of the world, Elpi, Seven of the Thirty-Five Powerhouses. Who deserves their respect?
However, as she slowly rolled her eyes to the side, the luxurious armor and the man wearing them entered her sight along with a man under a black cloak. Although the hood was removed, Lei Mu couldn't recognize any of the two.
Then her eyes continued to roll.
Three old men, looking younger than the Elders in their clans. Still, none of them got recognized by Lei Mu.
Now that her focus and senses came back from being sealed from meditation, she could clearly hear what conversation they are having.
"Thank you for your aide, Emperor Wang Song.", Patriarch Lei lowered his head one last time with sincerity in his voice.
Lei Mu's head went blank...
'Emperor Wang Song? Emperor? An Emperor?!!', she stared wildly at the man under the black cloak and saw that the man beside him that wore luxurious armor has the same standing as him, standing as an Emperor! As a Ruler!
She didn't hear anything from then on or that she couldn't.
It is disrespectful to be one of the same standings as the Emperor. As the sole Ruler of the continent, they are very lonely at the top but that is one of may that they have to sacrifice to gain their current power. Therefore, they have no equal ground as they are at the peak. It is disrespectful to claim to be on the same ground as them and even doing it openly like the man in luxurious armor was doing! However, nobody seemed to care and came to the conclusion that they have the same power but one only from a different ruling!
Lei Mu breathed cold air as she calmed herself and tried to listen from their conversation once again.
If those two are Emperors then those three old men at the back should be people who are important in the least.
"It's nothing difficult coming here. I and Sage Tai Shi used the Point to travel instantly between continents without a hassle since we need to do under the dark and no time should be wasted.", at that moment, Emperor Wang Song explained something, Patriarch Lei.
'I and Sage Tai Shi...', those few words rang inside Lei Mu's head repetitively.
It now only took common sense to figure out that the three old men behind the Two of the Four Rulers were Sages.
Seven of the Thirty-Five Powerhouses were there.
These people were regarded as an icon, an idol, and even a god at some point. Seeing one of them was considered to be lucky or a blessing for someone like Lei Mu who was stuck in the villages inside the mountains since birth.
All the lingering fear, anxiety, and worry all disappeared in exchange for complete respect and worship.
Lei Mu didn't realize but she already kneeled to the ground. After realizing who were these people are, her body subconsciously took the initiative to worship.
These people hold the power she was yearning since her father left. As a child, her mind was simple. To meet and find the strong, you need to be one too. A strong person naturally meets another. Her environment had a huge impact on her that she had this kind of mentality. On that moment, she will respect the strong and only the strong will get her sights on.
But now, she was only a child on the side. One of the many others who have bright futures, not the few people who already achieved their bright futures long ago.
"It seemed that Emperor Sheng Ju long was careful and didn't trust sending of letters?", Patriarch Lei asked.
Emperor Sheng Ju Long quietly laughed, "I wouldn't trust it. If I can snatch a Burning Letter myself then it would not be too far fetched to think that someone else might too."
"You are underestimating yourself, Emperor Sheng Ju Long."
"No or I may overestimate myself. I know it may sound contradicting but I underestimate myself while having confidence at the same time.", Emperor Sheng Ju Long then looked at the people around him, still prostrating themselves but in his eyes, this was only normal, "Your people are exhausted. What happened?"
When Patriarch Lei heard Emperor Sheng Ju Long asked such question, he let out a bitter smile on his face, "We aren't that lucky on our journey. On our way, we already met seven Grade 4 Beasts."
Emperor Sheng Ju Long and the others who had just arrived with him couldn't hide their subtle surprised expressions.
"Amazing! You already met seven Grade 4 Beasts and none of your people are actually that injured, only exhausted! This meant that you have used them well and efficiently!", Emperor Wang Song praised while Emperor Sheng Ju Long nodded.
Patriarch Lei slowly shook his head, "We were only lucky. Beasts approached as in a wave after wave manner that we successfully fended them off and the guardians of these talented children contributed well too. Talented children wouldn't have talentless guardians.", he looked at the people with bright eyes.
"So it seemed.", Emperor Sheng Ju Long raised both of his eyebrows and looked at the people who are still in prostration, "Shouldn't you all be resting now? How can you when you're in a position like that?", he ordered in a cheerful tone.
However, it sounded absolute to the people that they immediately stood up and bowed before getting back to their places to rest but still couldn't help but lower their heads while doing their businesses.
