Chapter 5: Lil Maury

"Hey bro" Maury got a hold of his brother. Maury and his brother haven't talked in years, since he was locked up. Their connection had faded while he was sent off to prison, but they had always had a strong love for one another. "Vontae, man it's been so long!" There was a brief pause. "Look man, now is not a good time. You know my girl don't like you." Maury had a grin on his face. " it's Ight man, I get it. But how's mama?" This time, the pause on the phone was longer. Maury's grin faded. " mama ain't with us no more. She didn't want me to tell you she was going to die because she knew it would only make you feel more guilty." Maury was confused. "Guilty?" He spoke the words calmly but his head was aching. "She didn't want you to feel guilty about your argument." By now, Maury felt his eyes fill with tears, and his heart slowed down. She was right. He felt terrible. But her death only woke up a monster inside of him. He hung up the phone. He went to his apartment and didn't stop for anything, he went into the bedroom and pulled the gun from under the floorboards, then walked out of the front door and walked up and down the street. He pointed the gun to the sky. The tears were uncontrollable. The pain was different. He didn't fear anything anymore. His mother had always been his weakness, and now that she was gone, nobody could change him. "WHAT DID I DO TO YOU GOD?!?! WHY HER?!" Everyone had always wished to see him fail, but his mother always wished the best for him. Charmaine,' his girlfriend was on her way to his apartment when she saw he heard the news. She ran out of the car and hugged him. Maury's heart sunk. He turned to her and stared for a minute. She couldn't help but lock eyes with him. Neither of them spoke a word. He couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked to him. She was his new reason for life. The thought of a family and a home with her roamed his mind. He never noticed how soft her eyes were, or how clear her skin was. His thoughts were on her now. He took a hand a swiped a tear off her cheek and grabbed her face in his hand. To him, she was petite, small, fragile, and every bit of gorgeous. He kissed her small lips and picked her up. He brought her into the apartment and into the bedroom. He laid her down gently. Maury began caressing her body. She let out slight moans and he traced his fingers on her legs. He slowly took her clothes off and licked her neck and shoulders. For hours, their breath against one another's skin. They had certainly made up for the time they lost. He woke up the next morning only remembering half of the night and wishing he could repeat even the smallest of things. But Charmaine had news for him...he just wasn't ready to find out.
