Chapter 8: Memory

Bea looks at her weirdly, "What? No. He's the only child," she shakes her head.

"I see, I am just curious," Princess Irie said.

As they get near the garden, she can hear swords clashing.

She looks at the other side of the way and stops.

She saw a wide open space in the middle of the building.

And there is Prince Tris is wielding a sword.

He's just too far for Irie to see his face, "Princess, we can't watch the Prince, that's against the rule," Bea pulls the Princess.

"What?" Princess Irie began walking, following Bea.

"Watching the royalties practice sword fighting is prohibited, they say it is to preserve them their pride in case they lose or if they are not good. Since it's usually for elegance and grace, they don't put too much effort in it and mostly some of them can't even wield a sword properly."

"But Tris, I mean Prince Tris is good at it," Princess Irie almost calls the Prince by his first name only.

This is a disgrace for her if she calls the Prince using his first name only if he's not around.

"Really? No one knows about their performance because their mentors never say anything except to the King."

They went out to the garden and Princess Irie saw a wide Blue Rosegarden.

There are other flowers but all are color blue.

But she can see that there were a lot of dead flowers in the farthest part.

"Why are those flowers dead?" Princess Irie asks.

She can see that the blue flowers are taken care of but the far flowers are all dead.

"They say, those flowers were red, purple and yellow roses before the King took over the South, he loved the other Kingdom's roses. He cherishes them like his own rose. But after that tragedy, he asked the knight to burn it all. And that you see, Princess, are the red roses. Even though they were burnt, they still stand, though they are dead."

Princess Irie felt shivers run down her spine.

She saw red eyes suddenly from a faint memory but while she tries to remember, her head ached so bad that it made her scream.

"Princess!" Bea called.

Her voice was heard by the Prince, he gave the sword to the knight near him and he hurriedly ran to the garden.

"What is it?" He asks with a worried face.

She saw Irie on her knees while holding her head.

"She just suddenly felt the pain, Your Highness," Bea forgot to greet the Prince with her worry for the Princess.

The Prince didn't even notice that and went to Irie, "Lorainne," he called.

He tries to make her look at him but her headache made her wince.

Bea blushed when she heard the Prince call the Princess' first name worriedly, 'Aw, he loves her!' she thought.

"Call the doctor, I'll bring her to her room," Prince Tris ordered Bea as he carries the Princess.

Even if he's full of sweat and wears a dirty shirt, he has no other choice but to carry her.

Bea immediately ran but she took a glance of the Prince who looks worriedly and scared while looking at Princess Irie's painful expression.

'Don't worry, Princess! He will take care of you,' she thought.

"Knights! Take the Doctor to Princess Lorainne's room," He ordered as he hurriedly passes by the Knights.

"Lorainne, what is happening?" He grew worried every second Lorainne's headache won't stop.

She's already crying in pain.

It won't stop.

She wants to remember so it won't stop.

If she'll let it go her headache will disappear but as well as the memory.

She might not remember it again.

But all she can see are red eyes in the dark.

The Doctor hurriedly examined the Princess.

He didn't greet the Prince since he looks like he'll kill him if he does it first than checking the Princess.

"What happened?" Prince Tris asks.

He looks at the Doctor sharply, "What is it?"

The Doctor gulps, he can't find anything wrong with her, but her temperature is sure higher than normal.

"She has a fever, Your Highness," It's the only excuse he can make.

If he will say that nothing is wrong with the Princess, he will be killed.

The Prince looks like he doesn't believe him, "Her head's aching for a very long time, Doctor. I don't seem to feel the same when I have a fever."

"But her temperature's high!" The Doctor said while praying for the gods to spare his life.

"Bea, check if it is true," The Prince asks Bea who is worriedly standing by the side of the Princess.

She leans and puts her hand on the Princess' forehead.

And the moment she touched the Princess skin, she worriedly shouted, "Doctor! Give her a medicine, now!"

The Prince looks at Bea with a disrespected glare, "Your Highness, she's burning hot! She'll die if she won't take medicine now," Bea said almost tearing up, scared for the life of her Princess.

The Prince checks the Princess himself and he immediately stared at the Doctor, "Didn't you hear that? Where's the medicine?" He said in a low angry voice.

"But.. she was just..." The Doctor scaredly takes out his medicine bag, 'It's not that high earlier. She can die because of this,' he thought while checking the Princess' temperature again before giving her the medicine.

"Call the Priest," The Prince ordered the knights.

Bea suddenly trembles.

They didn't tell her that she can't see the Priest but her fear of that reason made her bow her head.

"Bea, don't leave her side," The Prince leans to kiss the Princess Irie's forehead, "Don't tell her that I did that," he smiled while looking at Irie before leaving with the Doctor and knights.

She fell asleep before they can even arrive to her room.

She can't hold it back any longer.

"Princess, if this is my fault, I will gladly accept any punishment," Bea said while brushing away the hair in the Princess' face.

She never felt so afraid in her life.

It only hit her that the Princess is the person she will gladly serve for the rest of her life.

The Priest arrived after a few minutes, everyone already left aside from the Prince standing outside the room of Princess Irie.

"Your Highness, Prince Tries Cassiel La Estella, it is an honor to see you," The Priest bows down in front of the Prince.

"She suddenly had a head ache which lasted for a long time and suddenly her temperature went extremely high, I hope you know what I am talking about," The Prince whispers.

The Priest got surprised and he wasn't able to speak immediately.

He just stared for the Prince until he was able to open his mouth.

"That can't be, Her Highness never met the East," The Priest assured him.

"You've seen her?"

"Yes, earlier. She was asking me if the story about the Knight is true."

The Prince glared at him, he knew how the Princess got the answer for a stupid question.

But facing fears won't bring head aches.

"I will keep checking her if you want, Prince, but you know how I do that."

"If that will help her to keep herself together and eventually make her fearless, I won't be against it."

The Priest said his goodbye and the Prince left.

He has to report to his father about what happened to avoid suspicion.

He already told everyone what they have to say when someone asks about what happened to the Princess.

He enters the throne hall and bowed down in front of the King who is reading requests from the citizens.

"Father, Princess Lorainne fell sick. She has a fever, the doctor said this might be due to the changed of climate. West Kingdoms have hotter temperature as of this time and we have cooler temperature," The Prince said.

"Rise, is she alright now?" The King didn't look at the Prince as he continuously reads.

"Yes," the Prince answered while standing.

"Alright, check on her every hour, leave your duties if you need to. I am too busy to visit her so do take good care of her."

The Prince smiled before leaving, his father is a real sweet man if he is in his normal self.

But whenever the monsters occupy his thoughts, he becomes heartless and cold.
