Chapter 3: Mary's decision
Day by day the mark disappeared as if nothing ever happen to me, A single thought keep haunting my brain.
"Is the biting mark only an illusion? Am I already mad?"
It's crazy to think all the terror of that wacky night, so I decided to move on to the better aspect of life. Soon I realized that it's very late and I need to deliver Christopher's lunch, at least this little routine is how I pay his virtue for taking care of me this whole life. He must be hungry due to my indolence, as soon as I arrived I hastened to give the lunch box and immediately apologized to Christopher at his book shop.
So where do you off to today? , he asked. I'm going to visit mother's interment and trying to make use of my leisure, I answered,
"That's great and listen, Mary there's no need for you to deliver lunch to me anymore because I'll be home early from tomorrow on therefore you should be careful on your path" He said with a warm smile.
On arrival at the interment, I gently pick some flowers and spread it all over mother's grave, I wish for her to be always happy, sitting next to her grave is one of my favourite thing, it feels like I am sitting next to her.
As soon as I sit next to her grave I start my writing,
"Mother, today is my birthday, it's October 17th I'm 19 years old by now but nothing's really going on with my life up to this precious moments but, I can't say nothing because nearly everyday I have the same bizarre dream and sometimes I'm too scare and want a single embrace of yours so badly, I really want to meet you, the emotions burst out from my heart leads my tears falling from my eyes.
The day get darkened as if the Lord apollo is about to sleep soon but i am still staring the sky, bright to dark and dark to a magnificently starry night, the view is so soothing followed with a falling star and it is when I think that I shall make my wish. I pray for a wish and closed my eyes then suddenly I heard a noise from bushes. I assume that it's just a wild animal wandering around the bush so I turn around and start to write again.
Shoot, a single gunshot sound coming from outside the interment, suddenly a badly wounded gentleman is crawling towards me asking for a help, I hastened to get closer to him and try to help him,I take several herbs from from trees to put over his wounds and he finally falls asleep on my lap.
Leaning my back on mother's grave with a stranger who is sleeping on my lap, I grew drowsy, slowly closing my eyes and finally fall asleep.
"Mary are you okay? hey Mary!" a familiar sounding voice strikes all over my head and soon the voice wakes my unconsciousness,
I slowly open my eyes and I saw Christopher.
"I'm fine, what?... I was leaning back on mother's grave then a badly wounded man came to me and asked for my help and how can I be here?, I nervously answered.
Hey, it's okay Mary you can tell me what had happened after you recover, he said and hugged me warm and tightly.
Christopher soon left my room to give something to me and It's a book, he gave me three books, then told me that the author of that book is none other than my father Cornelius but it hasn't been published yet.
The next day after I obtained my father's books from my uncle. We decided to give it to publisher in London to make it official.
The expedition I must take to make my father proud unfortunately is by myself because Christopher can't come with me. He can't leave his book shop or closing it, because the book shop is the only one which provides money for us, soon I put some traveling clothes and took a bunch of preparation kit for quiet a long expedition. I hugged Christopher and say goodbye to him. With bags, a single map and riding a horse I shall take my leave from our lovely abode to the gorgeous city of London.
