Chapter 143: The Final Base Part 1
(Sakovia, Novi Grad, Avengers)
In the snow filled forests of Sakovia, not a sound could be heard, not a creature nor a bird, not a..... pack full of troops rushing to the defences as their long-time enemy began their attack. Shouts could be heard across the area as men moved into position.
The Avengers had already started their assault.
Natasha, Felicia, Laura and Clint had already highjacked one of the enemies vehicles and were rushing down the main path towards the base. With Natasha in the driver seat avoiding enemy fire, Clint had free reign to shoot at any and all targets.
Following closely on their trail was another more advanced Humvee, with a Chitari empowered canon mounted on the back. Avoiding the fire with ease, Felicia looked over her shoulder at the enemy before sharing a look with Laura.
She titled her own head back as if saying 'you take this one', bringing a small smile to her lips. Not wasting any time and using a bit of her superhuman strength, balance and reflexes, Felicia bound up from her spot and leapt to the vehicle.
The poor Hydra goons didn't know what hit them as she quickly took out the man helming the cannon, before kicking the driving out from his seat. He let out a small scream as he fell to the snow as she took control and followed behind Natasha.
Thor came in from the sky as they approached a firing tower scattering, flinging and punching off all assailants as they tried to fight back. One of the hydra soldiers equipped with a Chitari flyte pack tried to surprise the god of thunder from above but only got man handle d to the ground for his efforts.
Transitioning to the ground to wail on more Hydra lackies Steve rode past on his motor bike, picking up one of the soldiers by his leg and dragging him along the ground before flinging him at a few men trying to pin him down with gun fire.
Continuing forward he almost felt like he was back in World War 2 as he expertly ricochet his shield into another group of Hydra agents, taking another down before holding his hand up to catch the shield.
Taking a hard left as he got closer to one of their tanks, Thor once again came down, Mjolnir easily crushing the hardened metal sending the remains of the tank into the hands of the Hulk. Shouldering the scrap metal for a few seconds to pick a good target, he threw it like a chew toy at another armoured tank as a few men tried to take him down.
It was their mistake as Hulk easily brushed them off and reeked havoc on their forces. Natasha, Clint and Laura were coming up behind his carnage as Felicia left her Humvee behind. As they got closer to the small barricade before them Laura shouted out, leaping off her vehicle.
"Hulk! Fast ball Special!" The green behemoth didn't think for a second as he turned around to look at their group, a small smile on his face. This was one of his favourites moves they had developed as a team.
Laura leapt out of her Humvee into the giant hands of the hulk. *Snikt* her claws popping as he shot her towards another firing tower. "Yaaaah!" With a scream of blood lust Laura tore into the unsuspecting group as the rest of the group pounced over the barrier, leaving their Humvee behind to finish the rest of the Hydra Soldiers.
The poor soldiers didn't know what hit them as Steve ploughed down one man and Tony picked up another and slammed him into a tree. Continuing to destroy a bunker, Iron man flew higher to take arial superiority, gunning for the base before them.
As he streaked across the sky aiming for the final hydra base, weapons at the ready, as he dodged laser fire a small miscalculation in his flight tilted him to the left and right into the shields the castle held. Stark couldn't help but shout out at the jolt through the team comms. "Shit."
"Language." Steve didn't miss a beat as he continued to ride through enemy troops as the words slipped out, throwing his shield from enemy to enemy taking them down without breaking a sweat. "Jarvis what's the view from upstairs?"
Banner as usually was doing a hulk smash on the coming in reinforcements along with Thor raining down lightning and swinging Mjolnir at any unlucky soldier to get close as Jarvis Replied. "The central Building seems to be covered by some type of energy field. Struckers' Technology is well beyond any Hydra base we've already taken down."
It was easy to see the difference, Steve thought, to all their past battles, this time there were more soldiers, better weapons, greater tactics. Though Hulk, Laura and Thor soaked up most of the hits being their tanks so to say it was a deadlier fight than the norm over the last few months, especially the Chitari powered Rifles, flight packs and cannons they sported.
Though he did feel pity for them as he continued to take them down, the pain only caused the Hulk and Laura to hit back harder, Laura letting loose an audible growl as she propelled herself forwards, claws outstretch into an oncoming Humvee.
The steel stood no chance as she dived to the side and sliced right through both of the left wheels. The sudden switch in momentum upended the vehicle no problem and launched it into the air as it came crashing to the ground.
Thor's voice spoke next, in the middle of a beat down of more soldiers. "Loki's sceptre must be here, Strucker couldn't mount his defence without it. At long last." The words were missed by the resident widow and black cat as they sprinted through the woods. Weaving through the chaos of the fight.
Natasha threw a small grenade into the back of a passing Humvee as it exploded after a few seconds, while Felicia popped her own claws and began to run on all fours. Don't ask her where she learned that type of form, but her speed did increase for a few seconds as she flittered forwards almost a silver blur as she knocked over and tackled a few soldiers to the ground, slashing their arms and legs so they couldn't get back up.
Her claws made short work of the military gear as she moved on. Finally taking a chance for a breather Widow quickly shot out a gun emplacement as she caught her breath. "At long last is taking a little long boys."
Clint couldn't help but agree as another of his exploding arrows took down an entrenched bunker. "Yeah, I think we lost the element of surprise." Though the conversation tried to continue, Stark butted in again.
"Wait no one is going to discuss the fact that cap just said…Language." A small laugh was all he got from most of them while Laura nodded her head as she wrapped her legs around a poor victims neck and then brought him down, making sure her foot claw drew across his neck on the way up to finish the job.
"I don't like to agree with Stark…" "Hey" "…But he does have a point. He sounded like a… Grandpa right there." There was a small smile to her voice as she continued her fight, this was her element, where she felt most comfortable. She couldn't help the feeling of glee that radiated her person.
Felicia couldn't help but quip as she took down another person. "Well….he is." "Hey!" Steve almost, almost face palmed as he heard the two, it may have been a while since they had been on the team, but the two still left him exasperated sometimes. Especially Felicia and her grandpa jokes.
But he kept a smile as he rode on, the banter was all in good fun. It actually reminded him of his war days. But of course, he had to defend himself. "I know…" He took a second to dismount and then fling his borrowed bike into an oncoming Humvee before continuing. "…It just slipped out."
The almost resigned voice finally drew everyone into a laugh as they continued to attack the base. This would be the last and final base of Hydra they would have to destroy. Hopefully.
Notes: Ok so now that we are in a movie setting with a lot happening, though I will have to pull some dialogue and use some of these scenes, I will be skipping some scenes, especially if I don't think they will change that much.
