I had fallen asleep on my bed, laying next to Jimin after my weak moment the night before. He had tucked me into bed and left to his shared room with Taehyung for the night, once he was convinced I was sound asleep.
The boys let me sleep in and unbeknownst to me, were gathered in the living room for an emergency meeting organized by Jimin. "We have a problem, guys." He announced to the group. He filled in Namjoon, Hobi, Jin, and Yoongi on what the other three of them had found out-that I could sing.
"However, she thinks her voice isn't good at all." Jimin explained. "Which isn't true, her voice is amazing." Taehyung added. "I tried to convince her last night, but she just won't believe me." Jimin went on. "Apparently her mother who who died always sang and her father told her to never sing because her voice was ugly and was nothing like her mother's."
"It sounds like we have some major work to do." Namjoon said. "We all need to work together to convince her." Hobi, Mr. Sunshine himself, confirmed. "Yeah, I think if she hears it from many of us, it'll be hard not to believe." Jungkook agreed. "Thanks everyone. Fay-noona takes care of us so well and I think it's only fair that we do the same for her." Jimin replied, concluding the meeting.
Today was a day off between concerts so when I finally woke up, I was alone in the big hotel suite. The boys were all off relaxing and doing thing separately. I wandered into the kitchen and found a note on the counter. "We decided to let you sleep in. We will all be back for dinner later. -Joon"
I didn't really know what to do with myself since this was the first time the entire tour I wasn't with at least one of the boys. I decided on grabbing some coffee and relaxing on the couch while watching the TV. I flipped through channels for probably about an hour before I gave up on finding anything good to watch.
I was already bored, so I texted the youngest.
Fay: Hey, Kookie. I'm bored, what are you up to?
Jungkook: I'm downstairs in the studio.
F: Oh
I was thinking about reaching out to Tae next when Jungkook texted again.
JK: Come keep me company?
F: Okay!
I smiled and headed to the studio.
I knocked on the door of the studio and Jungkook appeared, opening it. "Hi, noona." "Whatcha up to, Jungkookie?" I asked, walking in. "I was working on posting a cover song for the fans." He answered, sitting back down at the computer. "I see." I said, sitting in a chair next to him.
"Do it with me, noona." Jungkook said. "I-I can't, Jungkook." I said firmly, looking at my hands. "Come on, please." He whined. "But-" "Please, please Fay." He cut me off and looked at me with bright sad eyes. We had a stare off for a few moments before I blew out a breath in defeat. "Fine." I mumbled.
"Do you know All of my Life by Park Won?" He asked. I nodded. " I'll start and you can sing whatever parts you feel comfortable with." He said. He sang the entire song while I harmonized with him on the chorus each time. He smiled at me gently and patted my hand. "Let's play it back before I post it." He said, as my heart sped up.
He played it before I could begin to protest. "Is that...me?" I gasped, hearing the foreign voice. "Yes, that's you." He confirmed. "Will you start believing Jimin and the rest of us now when we tell you how nice your voice is?" Jungkook asked, desperately. "I don't know. I can try, I guess" I replied, staring off into space. "I'll take it." He said, hugging me. "Is that really me?" I asked again, voice muffled from Jungkook's arms.
Sometime later I was lost in thought at the dinner table. I still couldn't comprehend that the beautiful, clear voice in Jungkook's video belonged to me. It wasn't at all like my father had told me. Was it really mine? "-ay, earth to Fay!" Someone said, snapping me from my thoughts. Jin was looking at me expectantly for a response to something he asked. "Sorry, what?" I asked. "Orange chicken or sweet and sour pork with your chow mein?" He repeated. He and Yoongi had picked up Panda Express for dinner. "Orange chicken." I answered and he set a plate in front of me.
I ate, but continued to be in my head and was unusually quiet during dinner. "You okay, Fay-noona? You're quiet." asked Jimin. "Yeah, I'm okay." I lied. He narrowed his eyes at me, contemplating whether to believe me or not. Jungkook leaned over and whispered in his ear. He must have told him about what happened in the studio because then Jimin looked up at me, eyes full of understanding.
After you all ate, you finished cleaning up with Jin. The boys all went to bed early since their next concert was tomorrow. Jimin was the last to leave and he kissed you on the cheek. "Goodnight, noona. Get some rest." He said warmly, heading to bed. I left the kitchen as well and got ready for bed. My mind was still racing despite being exhausted. I did the only thing I could and snuggled in the covers while putting my headphones on. I listened to soothing music as my brain quieted down and sleep overtook me.
