I slowly reached for my phone.
I answered. It was Mom.
She had work today so she wasn't able to stay with me.
"Hello?" I said.
"Via I asked Lexi to come over to the house to check up on you are you okay with that?"
"Sure," I said. "She can come over."
"Okay bye love you," Mom said.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hung up.
I sat back on the bed and sighed.
What was going on with me?
My hands?
Why?
I didn't get it. I didn't get why I was struck by lightning. I didn't get why lightning was coming from my fingers.I didn't get it.
None of it.
This made me angry.
Angry for not knowing. Angry for the tension between Lexi and I.
Angry. But also scared.
Should I tell Lexi when she came over?
I can't.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I heard the doorbell.
I ran downstairs to let Lexi in.
We sat in the kitchen at the island.
"Are you okay?" Lexi said concerned.
"Yea, I'm okay," I said.
I decided not to tell her. To tell anyone. I had to figure this out.
"Do you need anything?" Lexi asked.
"No thanks I'm okay," I said.
Lexi's phone beeped.
"I have to go sorry I wasn't able to stay long. "
"Its okay," I said.
I sat there for a moment after she left.
The lights began to flicker off and on in the room.
I jumped up from my bed.
A small circle began growing bigger in the middle of the room.
Some type of thing. A hole?
No a portal.
"Come." A voice said from inside the portal.
I took a step back.
"I want to help, step through the portal."
I began to ease my way to the bedroom door to try to make a break for it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before I could touch the doorknob in a gush of wind I was yanked into the portal.
And I could not believe what I found.
