Chapter 1: Day 1
I decided to get this journal for my expedition. I will try to remember to write an entry every night.
My wife's name is Kara Ackeron, so if somebody finds this journal, she needs to know what happened. Kara, my love for you is larger than the amount of water in the seas.
I just got a big job by some rich explorer called Donovan Green. My crew and I will be setting sail towards uncharted seas west of Shieldrake*. The risk is high, but this explorer is paying a high amount for me and my crew and the Gods know I need that money. Or more precisely, my wife needs it.
I'm writing this journal in case anything happens during the trip.
I'm aware why the western seas haven't been explored. An abnormally large amount of storms and some superstition of ghosts looming those waters. I don't believe in the ghosts, but I do have to be wary of oncoming storms.
Fortunately, our ship, the Raging Squid, has the durability to handle most storms that it has come in contact with.
Out of the crew, my first officer and best friend, Harry Chyllings, will be onboard with me during the expedition. If he's with me, then we should have no problem navigating whatever comes our way. He is slightly younger than me and is more interested in the adventure. I think he is a little naive, but he has a good heart. I have no idea why he isn't married, yet.
Mr. Green has already gave me half of the money and promised to give the rest after the expedition is complete. I left the money with my wife.
This explorer has also discussed what our objective is for this expedition. We are going to sail towards the western seas and map out the area. He said that he will bring his own cartographer. We will be sailing around for at least 2 months, so the boat has been prepared for a long lasting trip. I have to get going. I still have to go home and say goodbye to my beloved Kara before the expedition.

asifsaj *Shieldrake is the main continent that Captain Jim Ackeron and his crew set sail from. The continent's history is filled with tales of magic and monsters. The continent used to be plagued by dragons, but their kind have went extinct due to mass hunting and a very zealous dragon hunter.
