Chapter 3: Why I must fight?
There have been warriors and legends that challenged. All have to claimed to have the capabilities of defeating the duo in the battlefield. Their sad fate had only been sealed as they have been slayed by the deadly duo Alpha and Beta. Despite all of the victories Alpha had earned it only gave more dissatisfaction in his side. Thinking of a life he could have lead if he were not a machine created to kill.
Humanity has its perks and downsides but thinking of the greater good Alpha has no choice but to fight in this chaotic world. He beats his chest looking at the foes he had slain all have ventured out to claim glory for themselves.
"Why must people hurt each other?" He ponders looking up to the sky.
A challenger has arrived to see him. Alpha was not in the mood anymore to swing his weapon against him but the challenger was eager. In the midst of chaos the two assumed to their fighting stance. His opponent eager to score a kill while Alpha to preserve his life. Neither of the two moved an inch observing their movements.
"I have no intention to fight." Alpha who had enough of fighting said to his opponent.
"Then allow me to strike you down!" His opponent said.
All of a sudden the two was surrounded by men-at-arms on horseback. It was his opponents brethren who was hunting him for days in the wilderness. Alpha have no choice but to fight he draws his weapon. His opponent gave a signal and two of his men dismounted from their horses. He instructed them to move forward and face Alpha.
"This is it?" He said. "He is no man but a marriage between steel and flesh. Take a good care of yourselves lads. He is no easy prey!"
"Very well!" The two knights began to move encircling Alpha who was vigilant on his surroundings.
"HYAAAAAA!!!" One of the knights attacked from behind with a huge swing of his blade.
Alpha quickly moved to dodge and disarmed his opponent with ease. The knight in front of him advanced with caution and halted his charge. He grips his weapon with two hands and proceeds to attack with quick stabs. His attacks were dodged, Alpha who was no intention of killing him proceeded to injure him. He broke his arms and the knight screamed out of pain.
"That's enough!" Alpha's challenger said.
Both of his men retreated backwards and he proceeded to draw his weapon.
"The best blade imbued with the strength of the gods themselves. I hope you have something in your side to defend against it!" The challenger said and attacked fiercely at Alpha.
The attacks are getting fiercer and faster but Alpha has no problem in deflecting and dodging them. Frustrated the challenger continued his attacks and are resorting to dirty tactics as he continued. All else had failed and he rested for a while after realizing his attacks are having no effect at his opponent at all.
"Not bad, monster!" He signals his hand and the remaining of his knights in their horses trotted towards him.
"If I cannot have you alone then I will have you by our numbers!" The challenger said ordering them to attack at Alpha all at once.
Seeing how dire the situation was for him. Alpha dispatched beta to reduce the numbers of his opponents and looks for an opening for an escape.
"Beta, go!" Alpha said and saw an opportunity to escape.
He proceeded in eliminating his enemies one by one as he tries to escape to the forest in front of him. The terrain provides cover and would prove difficult for horses to traverse as it was a steep and rocky. Alpha successfully escaped from his pursuers and was able to safely return to Erudito days after. He realized that living in the World of Dawn is not as different as his life in the Laboratory as he thinks it was.
"Why I must fight?" Alpha asked himself on his way home.
His answer became clear to him as he opens the door of his home with his friends whom he call his family in front of him.
"I am home!" He said with a faint smile on his face.
