Chapter 31: Homewrecker

The first thing Hermione noticed was the overwhelming feeling of dread. She looked around. She was sitting on the ground. To her left and right there were grave stones. So many grave stones. A few meters away lay a person. Fearing the worst, Hermione scrambled to where the person lay on their stomach. She couldn't see the face. She had to make sure the person was alive. Was okay. Was…

It was too quiet all around her. All she could hear was her own frightened heart beat. At last Hermione settled down next to the person. With trembling hands she reached for their shoulders, carefully turning them over.

"Percy," she gasped. There was no doubt it was her water boy. There was also no doubt, that the boy was dead. There was no life left in his unblinking, empty eyes.

"Percy! No! Percy, please!" Hermione sobbed desperately. This had to be a nightmare! And there was nothing she wanted more than to wake up. That's when the laughing started. A cold high laugh reverberated over the graveyard turning Hermione's blood to ice. She looked around and suddenly the graveyard was filled with people. Cloaked people in masks, who joined in with the laughing.

Hermione wanted to block out the noise with her hands but she was too shocked to move.

The laughing became louder and more hysterical by the second. Hermione wanted to run but she couldn't leave Percy here alone with them. And then… he was right in front of her. Voldemort.

His pale skin and snake face seemed to be more protruding, his black robes seemed to billow out around him as he rose into the air. He had become something more, no longer just a dark wizard, no longer the "Dark Lord" he had become the "Dark god"

Merlin, no!

With a flash of green light that was projected from his sleeve the dream ended.

"Hermione! Wake up! It's just a nightmare! Hermione!"

Someone was screaming. Two people. It took a while for Hermione to figure out that she was one of them. The other… she couldn't be sure. But… she knew that voice. Or more like that whisper.

"Percy? Is that you?" Hermione asked hoarsely. She hated how small her voice sounded. There was an additional weight next to her. Then a hand, squeezing her own quickly.

"I'm here. You were having a nightmare."

Was it? Maybe not. If Hermione was she was simply too tired and still shaken from the nightmare. She nodded, rubbing her eyes tiredly.

"Do you… want to talk about it?" Percy asked cautiously.

Hermione shook her head. But then she sighed, sitting up against the headboard.

Percy sat down next to her, silently waiting for comforting.

"I'm at the graveyard and you were de-" Hermione stopped, unable to continue. Hermione squeezed his hand for support.

"Dead," Hermione continued, almost spitting the last word, "You were dead and then there's Voldemort and he's laughing and the other Death Eaters are all around me and they won't stop laughing and he looks at me and he-" Hermione had to stop there. She was breathing fast and there wasn't enough air and the memory of that night was terrifying.

"Hermione, it's okay, you don't have to tell me-" Percy looked at her with sympathy, reaching for her other hand as well. There were tears in her eyes.

"He points his arm at my heart and then there's a flash of green light..." Hermione shook her head to get rid of the images, "I think I screamed… Then… I woke up." Why wasn't she telling him the other part... Because she didn't want it to be true she decided.

"Oh, Hermione," Percy said comfort in his voice soothing her restless mind, "I'm so sorry you had that dream."

Hermione didn't answer. What was there to say? It's fine? Don't worry? It wasn't fine. That was the problem. Hermione wasn't sure if it would ever be fine, with the wedding being today. She hasn't told Percy yet about... Her heart felt a tiny bit tighter now. But at least she didn't have to carry the burden all by herself anymore. She didn't want to tell him, although he heard from the snake woman yesterday, if she told him it would give him hope... and she didn't want him to hope for a future together with her... if it was all going to end in a matter of hours, I'd rather him not carry the burden.

"I just want him to-" Hermione took a deep breath, "I just want him to leave us alone."

For a moment she stared into the dark gloomily. Then she lay back down, leaving some space next to her. Without a word, Percy crawled in beside her, facing each other in the darkness. When Hermione was sure it was too dark for anyone to see her, she whispered, "I'm scared."

"Me too," Percy replied quietly.

Hi, Hermione!" Ginny greeted. She waved cheerily and looked around the compartment curiously. She was followed by none other than Lavender Brown who was waving as well.

Has the world gone daft? Hermione wondered

"Hey," Lavender said, "Have you seen Ron?" She was frowning.

Ginny put a hand on her shoulder in comfort.

Due to today being so important, Sirius had called in all of the Order members and unfortunately that included Lavender Brown... the home wrecker. Yeah maybe Hermione had left some of the hurt behind but that doesn't mean anyone should like their torturers. And she decided she wouldn't either. Hermione froze in place hand gripping on to Percy's like a vice. Percy seemed to notice her reaction and gave her a worried glance. 'Will he do the same to me' She internally fretted. His worried sea green eyes told her one thing though. When our eyes met. He didn't even see another girl in the room. She was all he wanted, all that existed.

"Oh him, I wouldn't know." Hermione informed her tight tone.

"Oh." Lavender eyed her confusedly for a second like she had only just noticed the boy beside her.

"Right. See you later!" Lavender said, waving once more, before she moved further into the creepy hallway. "Not if I see you first." Hermione said under her breath, which Percy caught and laughed at.

She had decided to explain her reaction. "One of the many reasons I left my life behind was Lavender's acceptance into the order of the Phoenix. We had a previous order leader 'Dumbledore' and he had just relinquished his duties as Order leader to Sirius due to his growing sickness. When I and Ron broke it off he had gotten together with Lavender." She pointed at the direction she had just left. "Whom by the way, had attempted to give Ron a love potion back at Hogwarts... which is disgusting to me, its as bad as a date-rape-drug. Regardless of my feelings for Ron at the time. How could the Oder trust someone like her, who would try to drug someone anyone to get what they wanted. It boggles my mind.' Hermione finished shaking her head.

Thinking back on the bad memories she had her arms held onto Percy as a life boat to keep her from fully submerging into that horrid time.

-Percy-

"Sorry you had to go through that." He said cupping her face with his free hand.

Looking at Hermione's face there seemed to be a firm resolve that he hadn't seen before. But with everything going on they didn't have time to think about past grudges. They need to focus on surviving the day, and by the gods she will.

"Min, we should get going, we need to get to half-blood hill and meet Tyson and Leo before we get into our wedding cloths." I had thought of a nickname last night when Hermione was teaching me a few basic spells. I hadn't tried it out with her yet so I decided to gauged her reaction. I watched her face go from surprised to flaming for a second and she tightened her hold on my arm again.

"Min? Huh," She smirked up at me.

"Do you think is bad?" I asked blushing.

"No, I don't mind it... As long as you'll be my 'water boy'." Hermione reasoned.

Meeting her warm chocolate eyes I replied. "Anytime"

Embracing each other we apperated to half-blood hill.

I got some of the words from the above site. Although it was just kind of a playback of the confrontation between Harry and Voldermort during the Tri-wizard tournament I wanted to be fair and give out my sources I use with the chapters.

Enjoy!
