Chapter 2: The Arrow

Yi Hai walked through the woods enjoying the sound of the breeze caressing the leaves. The sky looked amazing that night, he marvelled at its beauty; an orange cloak bleeding into purple with distant shimmering lights that looked down upon him as he adjusted the pipe like object on his back.

His telescope was his most precious object, the one he loved above all else, it let him see a world beyond his without the constant annoyances of his life, a beautiful place with lights and mystery and treasures just waiting to be explored.

As it was he had discovered three comets he'd fondly named Lycia, Amore and Terna which he proudly thought of as family he thought of their light every time he felt down which with the way things were going in his life, was becoming quite a lot lately.

He trudged along quietly along the path he had long become used to but today there was something different the air held a faint flowery scent that for some strange reason stirred something in him. it felt like something was being woken up, like a grizzly bear coming out of hibernation. a hunger he thought he had long quenched roared within him and he struggled with the strange sensation before tripping over something, "what the fu...?!" was all he said between the arc his head had to travel to reach the muddy floor.

He swore, looking around for the offending object all he saw were a pair of spectacles he held them in his large hands; his green eyes becoming razor sharp as he focused on them, noting every single detail,

"definitely feminine Dior, good taste rather understated," he thought aloud putting them in his pocket.

He ran a hand through his hair before standing up to check on his telescope. It wasn't damaged, thank god, the lens needed cleaning though, he thought fetching a soft cloth, delicately wiping the mud of the fragile glass, sighing a deep contented sound that vaguely resembled fading thunder, he smiled knowing what that sigh could do to women they practically melted when they heard it some faking it to get to his money others not seeing anything beyond his face and physique .

They had long become a pass time barely eliciting any satisfaction they just gave it up way too easily till it became a bore, then it became a chore, finally it just became pointless to pursue them they offered no mystery unlike the stars and space sure they had enough beauty to rival them but they offered no allure, no wonders and a treasure wasn't fun to find if it was handed to you on a plate though mostly he had come to receive their treasures on a bed, back of a car, bathroom stalls, office desk , beach that one time in a phone booth, elevators the location did not matter anymore.

He set up his little telescope, well actually it was quite large but due to his muscled body and tremendous height it looked very little.

He adjusted it focusing more on the east; which already looked like nightfall plus it faced away from the city ensuring no man-made lights could dim his stars.

He directed the telescope up slightly above the trees relishing the bright light of the stars, the gentle manner they shimmered sending a warm feeling into his heart they looked so cold like diamonds but he knew they burned hotter than lava.

Instinctively he turned just a little northward searching for the archer constellation one he considered to be a sort of guardian to him how he was always there when needed he saw the archers belt and the archers bow then he finally spotted his arrow drawn ready to strike.

Perhaps he was hunting prey for his family or maybe he was a cold-hearted assassin who brought justice to the scum of the earth maybe he was simply a young man enjoying himself in archery the possibilities were endless he began to turn in search of the Aries constellation when he saw it, a falling star it was just nearing the stars of Arietis .

He looked up at the sky quickly spotting the flash of light that seemed to emanated from the archers bow like an arrow being fired its luminescent tail burning bright as daylight somehow connecting The Archer and The Ram before falling somewhere further east as if it had an actual target on earth, he was overcome with the urge to follow it, he couldn't explain it something just whispered to him,

"Run,"

Before he even knew where he was running to, he took off after it.
