Chapter 43: The Diary
I went directly to Ravenclaw's common room and when I arrived to the entrance I asked the first Ravenclaw I saw where is Luna. I wanted to hear her opinion of what to do now, as she's the only one apart of me that knows where is the chamber. He told me that she's probably close to the forest with her imaginary animals.
When I reached Hagrid's hut, I saw between the trees that Luna was with some Thestrals. So I got closer.
Rainy- you really like the Thestrals right?
Luna- yes... they are the proof that with the weird things the magical world has, the animals my father and I talk about are not inventions... I'm sure I'll be able to show them to my friends someday...
Rainy- I would love to, but I came here because I think we have already discovered the monster of Slytherin.
Luna- that was quick...
Rainy- yes. Probably is a basilisk. And it hasn't killed anyone yet because they have seen the eyes through reflections.
Luna- a basilisk... and what are you gonna do now?
Rainy- that's what I came to discuss with you... can you help me?
Luna- sure. What's the problem?
Rainy- if we go and kill the basilisk, we will never know who was the student that did the attacks. Besides, everyone will think that I'm the culprit because I'm the one that discovered the chamber and it needs parsel to open. Is that or they will think that Harry was the one that did it and me, as a friend, discovered everything... either way is bad.
Luna- then you just need to catch the culprit.
Rainy- but we don't know when it will attack again. And I can't just stay on the chamber until the student decides to attack, can I?
Luna- hmm, it is a problem... just tell the teachers then. I'm sure Dumbledore will have a plan for that.
Rainy-... I don't know... he can't just read the students minds without their consent. And I can't risk that the student knows that the chamber has been found...
Luna- and how do you know it's not me?
Rainy- I don't know it. I just trust that if something tries to control you, you'll tell me.
Luna- you trust people really easy, you know?
Rainy- you too. I'm the one that got closer to you, remember? Anyways I'll try to think about this later on. At least the professors know now that the monster is a basilisk.
After talking a little more with Luna I went to the common room. There I found the trio talking about the potion they will use to talk to Malfoy.
Rainy- hey! How are you doing?
Hermione- Rainy, I've already talked with McGonagall about the monster and she told me that they will look at that and gave me 5 points for Gryffindor.
Rainy- nice, we just need to find now the student that is opening the chamber.
Harry- and the chamber...
Rainy- yeah, well... I've found the chamber already.
Harry/Ron/Hermione- what!?
Rainy- the day I went to the lake with Luna, I talked with her about what we knew and she told me that maybe talking in parsel would work. So I went to the Snake symbol on my training room and talked in parsel. To my surprise it worked, so now I know how to enter.
Hermione- then we have to talk with the teachers now!
Rainy- not so fast! We need to search for the true culprit before because if we don't, everyone will think that the culprit was or Harry or me!
Harry- ... it's true, it we suddenly appear with the location of the chamber that none could find... it's too suspicious.
Rainy- right? That's why I want to search for the culprit... but I don't know how.
Ron- we can think more tomorrow... I'm tired today.
Harry- yeah, a nap can give us ideas...
After that we all went to sleep and we couldn't find anything to do the next few days. Later on, we discovered that almost all the kids are going home for Christmas. It seems that they fear the monster. Some of the few that didn't go out for Christmas are Harry, Ron, Hermione, Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle, and me. So it was perfect for the potion plan the trio had. I wasn't going to take part on it. Instead, with the knowledge of that the monster is a giant snake that kills with it's eyes, I'm training on a way to kill it, and it's going well. The potion plan only served to know that Malfoy isn't the one, to know that the chamber was opened fifty years ago, and to send Hermione to the Hospital wing transformed on a cat-girl. Also as I'm always training I reached 150 mana on February, and I've learned Thundaga! It seems that it costs 44 mana. I won't use it against anyone I don't want to kill.
The 3rd of February I went to the common room to rest for a day after classes, and I found out that Hermione had left already the Hospital wing. I was glad because it was really upsetting that Esuna! couldn't heal that.
Rainy- Hermione, you are better now?
Hermione- yes, I am. Any luck with the culprit?
Rainy- no...
Harry- hey, Look at this.
Harry then showed us a diary that he found out on Myrtle's bathroom. It seems that someone threw it at Myrtle and Harry took it because it was from a person called T.M. Riddle who won a trophy fifty years ago. It doesn't take a genius to see the connection.
Rainy-... I don't like it... it could be a trap.
Harry- but it doesn't matter what we do with it, it won't show any word.
Ron- yeah, it's empty!
Rainy- and someone got angry enough with an empty diary to throw it? I don't think so.
