Chapter 1: So much like a Robot
Here in my room, doing nothing, staring at the ceiling, an absurd and strange thought just passed by my mind... Maybe it was because of the movie I watched before. I forgot the title of this movie(some of you might remember or know this movie), but the story was about people in the future would every day take pills that would void all of their emotions. The antagonist of the movie was sick of the endless wars and crimes of the people that when he ruled all of mankind, he implemented a law which would force people into taking this said pills.
The antagonist believed that humans' emotion was the main source of all crime and evil deeds, and to be honest, he had one hell of a point there.
So the protagonist, who was once a law enforcer, later on, was caught in his own curiosity, after he escorted and talked to a human who had not been talking the anti-emotion pill and who was sentenced to death. The words of the convicted fellow made him stop taking his own pills.
Fast forward to ending of the movie. Well, this is a happy ending. So yeah. The Protagonist became so pro-human and free will etc... and that there is always pros and cons, a grey area, and that, you know, yin and yang good inside of evil and evil inside of goodness. So like every other happy ending movie. The protagonist, which somehow resembles Tom Cruise, saved the day and the entire human race from the control freak antagonist.
So back to my strange thoughts. What if, a pill or drug as such can be invented and what's more can be bought in drug stores?! Wouldn't it be awesome? People undergoing intense emotional stress would have a choice whether to feel or not. Maybe suicide rates would go down, coz if you're hurting you can just go to a drug store and buy that anti-feel drug. That would be great, right? No more heartaches, you can also control your negative emotions, it would be a stress-free life.. but then again people would be so much like robots. All of these emotions are what makes us flawed, yes, but they make us human. Imperfect, intelligent creatures. That may be a weakness, but can also be our strength. Yeah I know it sounds so cliche and dramatic which some righteous-as* protagonist would say from some series, but at least, much better than being a senseless robot.
