Chapter 12: Chapter 12
Sabrina felt the heavy atmosphere around the room as she took a seat infront of her grandparents. Both of them looked too serious making Sabrina more nervous.
"What's the problem?" She asked noticing the blue photobook she never saw before lying on top of the table.
"Remember when you were young, when you wake up in an hospital? We told you we are your grandparents?" Her Lolo started "Yes I do remember. What about it?"
"Actually..." her lola started before stopping shortly and looking at his husband seemingly asking for approval to him. "We are not your real grandparents" she continued whilst looking down
Sabrina held her breath with the sudden confession not knowing wether to believe it or not. "W-what?" She looked at her lolo asking for an explanation.
"The truth is we had a child before but she was taken from us because of cancer. You're lola was so depressed that time she became so sickly so I decided to take her here in Busan. Then we heard of this orphanage and we started to volunteer. I never saw her looking so happy" He held her wife's hand while looking at her then he looked at Sabrina who was sitting quietly, head down, still trying to process all this information. Then he continued.
"That's where we met you. You were 7 y.o. and so little back then. You were like a bundle of joy. Mel was so happy whenever we visited and whenever she saw you. She felt better. We were planning of adopting you but when we asked you, you didn't want to because you didn't want to leave your bestfriend alone. You said he'll be sad and you'll be sad too. So we decided to just continue visiting you until you changed your mind."
Sabrina lifted her head when she heard the story. "I-I have a bestfriend?" "Yes, he was a quiet little boy. When you said that you don't want to leave him alone. Mel thought of adopting you both but we knew that we can't afford to adopt to children so we brushed off the idea" Sabrina nodded her head "W-What's his name?" She asked "We don't remember" she dlnodded her head again feeling a bit sad not being able to learn about the little boy's name
"One day an incident happened. You were both playing outside with a dog and he ran off the road and you followed him then a truck hit you. We quickly brought you to the hospital. You were asleep for 2 weeks and when you woke up you can't remember anything. We took the opportunity to adopt you and to make a new life for you. We moved back to Seoul and took you there."
"S-so are you saying that the dreams I've been having were part of my past? T-that it wasn't just a simple nightmare?" Sabrina asked tears flowing both of her cheeks. Her lola's eyes softend as she went to sit next to Sabrina and hug her.
"Yes my child. We were sorry we lied to you. We just wanted you to forget that horrible experience." Sabrina felt the warm hug from both of her grandparents.
"Y-you don't have to say sorry. I understamd you just wamt the best for me. I'm not mad." She showed them her sweet sile and hugged them back. "B-but what happed to the little boy and the dog?" She asked.
"W-we actually didn't know because we were so occupied in taking care of you and he never visited in the hospital too."
Sabrina was so curious and was so sad for the boy too then she noticed the photo album in the table. "What's in there" she asked pointing towards the album.
"Oh that's a collection of your picture when you were on the orphanage" her lola excitedly said before showing her the contents. Sabrina opened the book amused and she also thought that this could be a way to know about the little boy. But all of the pictures where focused on her and there were only few picture with the boy and he was either looking away or just his back.
Sabrina sighed as she can't figure out who the little boy was so she decided that she will find it out herself.
