Chapter 5: ***Present(year 2190)***

The gnawing hunger pulled me out of my musings. That's another thing I had to learn. I can never ignore the hunger for too long. If I did someone else paid the price with their lives.

As I get up I wipe the tears from my eyes. I've never fully recovered from the loss of my friends or family, but the pain is bearly there anymore, unless I relive it.

I'm not a massicist, but this evenig is the 200th anniversary of thier death and there's 5 days before my Immortal Birthday. I don't usually like to relive or celebrate either event, but Chance was wrather insistant about this year. Why, I don't really know. Yes, I resent him for saving my life and not that of my parents and friends, but honestly, if I was him and faced with saving my betrothed or the family and friends of my betrothed, I might have done the same.

The night of my party I was to meet Chance, get to know him and then if I felt a connection tell my father and then steps for the marriage would be taken.

I never knew about the arrangement, nor did I know how important it was to my parents that the marriage took place. Chance only told me two weeks after I was turned. My family owed his a tribute, and I was the tribute. In the shadows The Vyscus family had been supporting mine for well over 40 years and when I was born they decided that I would be the perfect "pay back."

I was upset, to say the least, in the begining, but Chance is finaminal, and a great guy. After the insident he gave me space and let me choose if and when we joined. It was 2 years after the demise of everyone I loved, and Chance was perfectly fine with it.

We sleep in seperate rooms, only because it is one of the Royal rules of the Immortal Race. So many rules, uhg. To think, I thought there were some dumb rules when I was a mortal. This rule was to keep us from breeding more than twice every 50 years, as well as to keep me from getting jealous if he brought a plaything home. Immortal rules were different in that even though you are married the man could still have "play things." Not that Chance did. I'd have his family jewls and I made that very clear.

I went over to my dresser, got some pink lacy under garments and stalkings. After puting them on I went to the closet and picked out a baby pink sundress. I do have to admit, after being turned all imperfections were erased from existence. I ceased aging and my honey gold hair had a natural lusture to it. Sparing a few moments to look into the mirror and seeing a flawless image of beauty staring back I made my way to the parlor.

Chance was waiting for me when i got there. As our eyes met across the room his brightened a bit and a huge smile spread accross his face. He met me in the center and took my hands into his.

"Sasha, you look lovely. Did you sleep well?" He lifted my arms and took a step back to look me over. His smile widening.

"Yes, thank you. What about you." My eyes skimmed over him. He was in a three piece and was wearing black loafers. "I'm underdressed, maybe I should go change" I said.

"Nonsense. You look perfect. shall we go?" He let go of my hands and offered me the crook of his arm.

"If you truely think I dont need to change." I said, second guessing my choice in outfits.

"By the way, I'm hungry." As if to punctuate the fact my stomach growled.

"I was going to have us stop and get us a sip before we arrived at my parents. It is a sign of rudeness to show up famished." He said and gave me a stunning smile.
