Chapter 21: Blooming sweetness
After spending some times chatting with each other? Joyce and Jayden finally left the park. As they are leaving the park to Joyce's place, Jayden tried to hold her hand a few times but to no avail. He wondered how to do it without being too forthright. He had been waiting patiently for this day to come, when she finally admit her feeling for him, so when this day finally come he suddenly became quite impatient with everything....
They were now at the junction. After they crossed this junction, they will keep going straight and will reach Joyce's place soon. As they started to cross, suddenly a motorbike passes through.
"Be careful!" Jayden quickly pulled Joyce into his embrace.
Both were panting slightly due to the shock. Joyce was trembling an was getting weak in the knee. What a close shave! If Jayden didn't pull her in time, she might already get knocked over by that motorbike!
He turned her around, holding both her shoulder he asked worriedly, "Did you get hurt? Are you okay? Should we go to hospital to check?" While asking, his eyes scanned through her face and her whole body to make sure that she didn't get hurt anywhere.
"I am fine." She gulped. Totally inappropriate to think that he looked very very cute worrying about her like this, but she still thought he was adorable. Warmth spread through her like a slowly burning fire, her heart slowly beat faster and faster due to the close distance. It made her think of their previous kiss and her face reddened.
Looking at her reddened face, Jayden panicked!
"What happened?? You said you are fine but why you face became so red??? Did you tried to hold in the pain? Have you sprained your leg??? No, this won't do. Let's go to the hospital." He then prepared to carry her to the hospital since he thought that she had most probably sprained or hurt her leg and was embarassed to tell him.
Jayden was busy trying to call the cab and carry her at the same time when Joyce finally opened her mouth and told him,"I am fine really... I didn't sprain my leg or anything.." To convince him she even tried to move her ankle to show him that she was not hurt anywhere. She turned both her arms and moved her whole body. "See?!" She said cheerfully.
Seeing that she did look healthy and fine, Jayden finally calmed down. "Why was your face so red then?" He was curious.
"Eh... That is because..... because.... You were very close..." She couldn't bring herself to say out loud.
"What...?? I couldn't hear you clearly."
"You were very close!" she quickly blurted out and her face turned red again.
Blushed! Jayden also turned red in the face when he heard her said that.
Clearing his throat he finally hold her hand with his newly found courage. "Let me hold your hand so that you won't be in danger again..." He said awkwardly and without waiting for her answer he pulled her to crossed the road.
She was looking at his back and their adjoining hand in awe. Smiling quietly to herself, she let him pulled her.
They have reached the entrance of Joyce's boarding house. Both unwilling to let go of each other's hand but still need to do so...
"So... Let's see each other tomorrow?" Jayden asked while caressing her cheek with the back of his hand.
"Like today?"
"If you want...."
"Hmmmm.... Okay then. See you after school."
"Okay... see you." Jayden slowly let go of her hand and then turned around to leave. Just as Joyce started to turn around, somebody suddenly pecked her cheek... Surprised, one hand covered her cheek then she turned around in time to see Jayden waved good bye to her and winked while smiling mischievously.
Blushing, she finally turned around and got on the elevator as if in-trance.

Joyce started to get ready to go to the hospital immediately after she reached her room. She took some of Lily's clothes because Mrs. Chua wanted Lily to feel better and more comfortable at the hospital.
Joyce was in good mood when she reached the hospital. She entered room 402 and saw Lily sitting on the sofa provided chatting happily with her mom. She saw Joyce coming in and immediately gestured her to come closer.
"Hey! What took you so long? Come on in!" Lily called out to her.
"Good evening Mrs. Chua. Hey! I'm just a little late today. Miss me that much huh? Joyce teased her.
"Well, it's pretty boring to be stucked here the whole day you know.." Lily pointed out.
"Hehehe.. Sorry babe. I'll come earlier tomorrow okay?" She took note to herself to text Jayden to change their meeting time. "So, how's the compatibility blood test? Have we found anybody who is compatible donor?" Joyce asked casually.
"We can know by tomorrow. It's too soon to find out." Mrs. Chua replied.
"Don't worry Mrs.Chua. I'm sure one of us can be a suitable donor for Lily." Joyce encouraged her.
"Yes! Let's not think about something that we'll know by tomorrow!" Mrs. Chua smiled and told Joyce to sit down beside her.
The three started to chat happily. Since Joyce had been friend with Lily since they were in kindergarten, she was very close to Lily's family member as well. She was like the other daughter that Mrs. Chua had.

Mrs. Chua was out looking for Dr.Goh to ask him about Lily's donor.
In the room there only left Lily and Joyce alone. Lily took out a letter addressed to Jayden and shown it to Joyce.
"What is this?" Joyce asked Lily nervously although she pretty much guessed what kind of letter that was.
"A love letter! Don't let my mom sees that! Quick! hide it!" Lily whispered urgently afraid that her mom might come back anytime soon.
Holding Joyce hand in both of hers, Lily said ," You will help me right?" she said seriously looking into Joyce's eyes.
"Why don't you give it to him yourself Lily? He'll come here tomorrow with Sherly. You can give the letter to him by yourself..."
"Are you crazy?!!! If my mom sees it she'll kill me before the cancer does." Lily scolded her.
"Well, I think confessing is best when you do it face to face and directly." Joyce tried to convince her.
"I am scared that he rejected me...."She looked downcast and looked dejected. "You will help me pass the letter to him right???" Lily looked at her with pleading eyes.
Sighing loudly and dejectedly, Joyce finally nodded her head and kept the letter. "But I only pass the letter okay! You should talk to him directly to be clear."
"Okay girlfriend! You really are the best!" and Lily suddenly pecked her cheek!
Joyce pinched the meat between her eyebrow and shook her head in defeat. Now what would she say to Jayden? He would be angry again with her...
