Chapter 7: Boss Lian!

When Bao Bao saw Cheng Tu, she jumped up and down around him in a circle and asked curiously, "Aren't you the boy from yesterday? The one that got beat up!"

Just like the first time Cheng Tu started talking to Xi Lian, he stuttered when he talked to Bao Bao. "Ye—-yes. I—I'm thankful for what you and Boss Lian did yesterday for me."

Bao Bao's eyes lit up and looked towards Xi Lian, "Boss Lian? Lian, you became his boss?"

Xi Lian looked embarrassed and waved her hand around "No, Little Rabbit is just calling me that."

Cheng Tu hurriedly intervened, "That—-That's not true, I really acknowledge you as my boss!"

"That's so cute! I'm going to call Lian as Boss Lian now too! Wow, Boss Lian already has two lackeys at the start of school." Bao Bao exclaimed.

Eating her burger, Xi Lian decided to ignore them. I won't acknowledge any of you as my lackeys!

While Xi Lian ate, the two of them introduced themselves and when minutes passed by, Little Rabbit didn't stutter anymore. He was now comfortable with the group and could talk without being nervous.

Bao Bao stared at his face, "Say, you're actually really tall and scrawny but you're face looks so young!" This caught Xi Lian's attention and she too looked at his face.

Cheng Tu smiled briefly before saying, "I actually turned eleven a month ago. I skipped grades when I was younger."

Bao Bao got up and shook his hand happily, "Woah! Me too, but I'm ten. Turning eleven soon."

Xi Lian paused drinking her smoothie halfway. She wasn't much older than the two but it seemed as if she was leading around a group of children and didn't have any friends her age... Could it be her maternal instincts? Or is it because she's only had three older brothers her entire life?

"Boss Lian what are you thinking about?" Bao Bao asked.

Xi Lian shook her head. "Nothing."

Bao Bao smiled and dipped her french fries in her ice cream, "How mysterious."

Xi Lian was speechless. Did you think I was having flashbacks of sad memories or something... There really was nothing... Bao Bao was overthinking it.

For the rest of lunch, they silently ate and Xi Lian realized how awkward the atmosphere was. "Ahem, do you guys have any classes left for today? Why don't we send each other our schedules so we can check the times we're available?"

They agreed and sent each other's schedules and contact information on their badges. At this point, all the freshmen in the school learned from the higher ranks and abandoned their phones, replacing it with their badges. The badges were more useful and were available at all times since they had to wear it around their necks 24/7.

Cheng Tu was the first to speak, "All of us don't have classes for the rest of the day and tomorrow. Why don't we do something together since it hasn't been long since we've met?"

Xi Lian wondered, 'Cheng Tu doesn't act like an eleven year old at all, he's so mature. Could it be being beat up shaped him like this?'

Bao Bao quickly agreed with excitement, "Yes! Let's do something today and tomorrow! What should we do?"

Xi Lian immediately said, "Points! We should get points and raise ourselves to blue rank quickly."

Cheng Tu was surprised at this suggestion. "Well... I was actually planning on slowly accumulating points and staying as a blue rank in my senior year..."

Bao Bao and Xi Lian sucked in a breath. Such low expectations! What low motivation!

Seeing their faces, Cheng Tu bitterly smiled, "Don't worry Boss Lian, I won't drag you down, let's go find points then. How much do you guys have anyways? As you know, I have three. Xi Lian, you should have three too after defeating Zhang Wei before. What about you Bao Bao?"

The two girls exchanged glances. Bao Bao decided to take the upper hand and tell him, "I have two points after finding hidden points. But Boss Lian doesn't just have three points."

Cheng Tu was startled and looked at Xi Lian. "Could it be Boss Lian has four points? Have you perhaps also found a hidden point?"

Xi Lian awkwardly rubbed the top of her nose, "Cough cough, I have twenty four points.."

"What?" Cheng Tu almost stood up from his seat. "You're not lying, are you?"

"...Do I have to lie to you..."

"But how?!"

"Ah, why don't I just show you instead." Xi Lian tapped on her badge and showed him the notifications from yesterday's duel. "Do you believe me now, Little Rabbit?"

Cheng Tu blushed, "I never didn't believe you! I just wanted to make sure..that's almost half the points needed for blue rank..."

...Liar...you didn't believe Boss Lian at all!

Bao Bao spoke, "Little Rabbit."

"What?"

"Nothing...just wanted to try calling your new name..."

" ... " Little Rabbit was supposed to be for Boss Lian only...

"So where do we find points?" Xi Lian asked.

"Aren't you supposed to know that? You were the one who wanted to do it!" Bao Bao exclaimed.

"Ah, right...how about we duel with others?" she suggested.

Bao Bao frowned, "But I'm only an expert in chemicals...if I wanted to duel with someone it might be a bit hard to find someone willing to also compete in chemicals. Little Rabbit what are you good at?"

Being called a little rabbit by a girl younger than him, really... "I was accepted here for my instrumental skills and archery. More specifically, I'm talented mostly in piano, violin, and guitar." These were all skills used by the hand...all three of them simultaneously looked at his hands. They were slender and full of blisters, a sign of hard work.

Then Cheng Tu asked his boss, "What skills do you have?" He was embarrassed and his cheeks were red, he didn't even know what skills his boss had...He had to work harder at being a lackey!

Xi Lian looked at him. 'Why is his face always so red?'

"Photographic memory is one you could count as a skill I guess. It's more likely a thing I was born with." Should she reveal all her cards at once or let them discover them one by one? "Ah...for the rest you two would probably find out in the future anyways so why talk about it now?"

Bao Bao laughed, "See I told you so! How mysterious!"

Cheng Tu nodded in agreement.

Ah, I really wasn't trying to act mysterious...

Xi Lian coughed, "Alright, let's split up and try to find opponents that match our respective skills. Don't challenge anyone you don't think you could handle. After half an hour, we'll meet up at the entrance of Mall B. If you need to take a little longer than half an hour then just call the other two using your badge."

"Alright! Good luck Little Rabbit and Boss Lian! I'll come back with many points!" Bao Bao was long gone already.

Little Rabbit put on a fighting face and tried to reassure himself that he won't embarrass himself after half an hour. "Good luck Boss Lian!" Then he walked off determined.

Xi Lian smiled at their disappearing figures and looked around for a match. Since she had quite a few skills, it shouldn't be hard to randomly find another freshman and duel with them.. But what if she couldn't find any freshmen with three points? Some freshmen were probably still organizing their dorms and didn't have any points. It would be even harder for Cheng Tu and Bao Bao. They had specific skills, which meant the requirements for their opponents would be stricter. Just finding an opponent might take half an hour...she only said half an hour because she was afraid of getting lost in this huge school...
