Chapter 3: Nightmares?

Sonza awakes in an unfamiliar room with blue flames lighting the small white room and an old man sitting on a stool the man looks at Sonza "you are gifted by jesic himself you are the one chosen to be his sword and shield now please pick your boon as this will aid you on your journey to become jesic's strongest soldier" the man dissipates and leaves behind three objects one being a book one being a note and the final being a blade handle Sonza investigates each individually in order they are "Magical Book: increases magic power" and then "note of advice: increases experience gain by 50%" and last but not least "blade of focus: this handle becomes the handle of any weapon you imagine while wielding" Sonza thinks for a minute and then chooses the note thinking that a blade is only as strong as it's wielder and he doesn't have any magical powers which are gifted at birth so increasing magic power is useless to him he chooses the note and picks it up immediately after he truly awakens in his room in the morning he looks around and he still has the same gauges and bars and nothing has changed so he begins to accept that his life is going to be like this forever he gets ready for the day and heads to the kitchen his mom waiting at the table "Sonza did you sleep well? I'm sorry about last night I hope you have a great day" Sonza does his usual walking up drinking his glass of orange juice and leaving for the day "love you mom" Sonza headed towards the goblin fields and began practicing he felt himself get a little bit stronger each time he killed a goblin and after taking out around ten he received a notification "goblin slayer: achievement rewards sent to inbox" Sonza immediately searched for this inbox and found a small icon in the top right of his vision after focusing on it he found two items listed as "achievement rewards" and "welcome gift" Sonza opened up the achievement reward first and received "+5% damage against goblins,+50 XP, Healed to full," Sonza for excited at the XP due to the fact that the 50 pushed him just up to 100/100 from the XP he got from killing the goblins he received another notification "level 2 reached: +5 stat points" again he frantically searched for his stats to he could add these points but again he couldn't find them eventually he gave up and opened up the welcome gift and received another +5 stat points Sonza had gotten fairly tired before but after he opened the rewards his HP bar was taken back to full after he saw this he also saw that his HP increased to 20/20 he got excited at this sight and decided he would stay longer and fight some more goblins after around 2 hours of fighting his XP bar reached 68/100 he wanted to get to level 3 but decided it was too late and he shouldn't stay out so late and cause his mom worry again Sonza headed to the market district so he could sell some trinkets he got off the goblins he received 2 copper for all of them he pocketed it and headed home for a pretty uneventful night he eventually layed down to sleep again he woke up in the blue room the old man sitting again "you chose the right choice boy now you need to make another decision" the old man dissipates again and leaves behind 3 scrolls Sonza investigated each one "flame magic: learn to use flame magic" "ice magic: learn to use ice magic" "earth magic: learn to use earth magic" Sonza thought that any of them would be insanely cool but ice specifically peaked his interest as he's never heard of a magic user that used ice magic he chose the ice scroll and again he woke up in the morning this was the last day he has to prepare for the tournament Sonza had an idea for today and headed to Jericos shop "old man show me your discounted products please" the gnome took out a box of stolen goods and Sonza investigate all of them and only saw two items that caught his eyes "shortsword: +2 speed,+1 attack,50% chance to bleed" and the second item "buckler: +2 defense, 5% change to negate all damage"
