Chapter 4: The Encounter
After listening to hours and hours of the deep rumbling hum of the cities star drive, Dr Samantha Carter had fallen asleep on the couch in her quarters. From the window behind her the streaming light of hyperspace could be seen as the city hurled itself toward it's far off rendezvous with Destiny.
Suddenly the cities warning alarms went off waking her from her slumber. She pressed her finger to the side of the headset she was wearing. " Control room this is Colonel Carter. Report!" She spoke. Without warning the familiar hum of the cities stardrive lessened and the city dropped from hyperspace. " Colonel the cities proxity sensors picked something up directly in our line of flight and the computer automatically slowed the city to it's pulse drives." Came back the answer from Dr gearing, the head tech in the control room. Then there were a few moment silence as Carter tried to get a response from Gearing. "Umm.. ma'am," he said shakily. "I think you better come see this quickly." He said. " I'm on the way." She answered, and ran from the room.
Dr Carter exited from the transport pod and stopped dead in her tracks. she rwcognized the three ships hanging in space before the city. "It can't be. it's impossible." She mumbled to herself as she quickly walked up the steps to the cities control area.
Dr gearing looked up at Carter as she entered the control area. " I've double checked the sensor records ma'am." He said. " I have no doubt that those out there are-" "Asgard mother ships" Carter finished for him.
The asgard had been one of the Galaxy's remaining ancient civilizations that had been originally discovered by the original SG-1 team from Stargate command many years ago. Over the course of many years and during many times working together the Asgardian people and the Tauri, or people from earth had grown very close.
Then suddenly a few years ago during the war with another race called the Ori, the Asgardians had blown up their planet committing mass suicide after leaving all their knowledge to the people of Earth.
"Colonel Carter, we are receiving a signal from the Asgard Ships, audio only." Gearing said. That's odd, thought Carter. Asgard always communicated through a holigraphic type system. "Put it through" She said.
"Attention people currently occupying the city. We are the Asgard. You have currently entered the Hyperion System. This system is protected by the Asgard fleet. please relay your intentions." The voice said. Carter excitedly said to gearing." Dr play that voice against the recordings we have of the Asgard leader, Thor." He nodded and began typing. " The computer says it's a 97 percent match." He said incredulously. "How is that possible." He asked. Everyone knew that Thor had beamed back down to Asgard right before that planet had exploded.
"I don't know" She said with unbelief In her voice. "Open a channel to the Asgard please," She asked." we have much to discuss.
