Chapter 14: The Chaos inside

JORDAN

Golden fireworks blocked my view of everything but Noah, his dark hair reflecting some of the golden light as he got closer to me. This wasn't like Derek, I was holding my arms around Noah's neck pulling myself to his mouth. He was so warm and was gentle but I could feel the sparks between us. He tasted of salt and citrus, with an addicting warmth. It was a fast kiss, not short on passion. I looked at Noah ready for some sort of rejection or a look of disgust, but his face was also flushed and he was out of breath. His clear aqua eyes looked playful. He was very handsome but not only that, he was protective and kind and made me laugh. He knew what he wanted and was straightforward. Noah swung me into his arms as I let out a surprised gasp and we landed on the floor with grace. He set me down on my feet but my legs felt wobbly from nerves and excitement.

NOAH

I delicately let her down onto her feet and she saw my scratched up hands. Grabbing them and closing her eyes I thought she was crazy but then green freckles of light fell onto my hands and closed and cleaned up my cuts without a trace.

"Healing magic?" I was in awe, I had never seen healing magic before. "So you can do Ice and Earth magic?" she was still blushing, I hoped my attempt at a special first kiss had exceeded her expectations.

"Well, I can do all types of elemental magic. It used to be two or three, but then I had access to all of the elements." She replied shyly glancing in my direction.

"Even Vulcan?"

"I….I'm not quite sure?" Her eyes rested on the people walking towards us again.

"Looked like a nice easy workout, Noah you're out of shape." Kyra announces, trying to embarrass me after I rejected her earlier this year.

"It didn't look like you did much." Jordan glares at the girl and Mason.

"You know Noah, I wouldn't surround yourself with her type. They like to promise love than hide from you for seventeen years." Mason sneers, but it was soon wiped away with a burning scream. Jordan's hands facing Kyra and Mason suffocating them with a rope of burning, dark red, lava. The spell dissolved and they sprinted away screaming but Jordan didn't get the satisfaction of showing them who's boss. Her eyes were rolled up in her head and she spasmed taking in deep gasping breaths before collapsing in my arms. I used the rest of my energy to run carrying my golden girl to the room and yelling for Kellan to help. He may be furious at me but I needed her safety first. I hold it on her forehead to cool her down and she flinches

Kellan was not angry, he was desperate. Cameron followed him in minutes later and her lavender eyes grew wide. I was the odd one out of the family circle.

"Can you explain it one more time Noah?"

"We were practicing agility and focus with minimal energy use, got done and she exerted a little energy to bring us on to the top of the pillar but nothing to big." I paused to look at Jordan she was still panting and her eyes were closed but moving frantically. "She healed a small cut on my arm, then two people insulted her and she choked them… with a rope of lava. Then this happened." I was pretty sure our kiss didn't induce this, at least I was really hoping it didn't. Kellan was whispering to Cameron and she left the room in a hurry. I watched Kellan look at his daughter with more emotion than I had ever seen from him. He turned and stood in the corner of the room examining the gadget stuck to the wall. There was a burst of energy and he smashed the device to pieces and it fell to the floor.

"What was that all about?"

"I apologize, I was angry."

"Sir, can I ask one question before you leave?" Kellan nods with approval. "Why am I here? What is this plan?" Kellan looks guilty, no longer shielding the emotion from his face.

"It was never with my approval, I never wanted Jordan here. The further away from me she is the safer she is. The Council found out I had been watching over her and demanded me to capture her. Once they dreamt up the possibilities they put everything into motion and if I went against it I would be dethroned. I can't protect my family without my throne, I've been pinned against a wall." My king was ranting to me about being thwarted and family drama. I was so taken aback I couldn't speak. Rushed footsteps were coming our way. "This may not suit your liking, I apologize."

JACK

Jordan's mother rushed to my cell with a look of desperation in her eyes.

"Jordan?" I sputter as she unlocks my cell and I jump with haste. Jordan was in an elegant gold room with a red satin bed. Her father looked as desperate as her mother, and the dark haired boy was looking awfully worried, but when he saw me come through the door he looked disgusted. I guess I wasn't the nicest sight to see. My attention went right to Jordan convulsing on the satiny covers and her eyes racing. Something was definitely wrong. I put my hand on her forehead and her skin was almost too hot to touch.

"We think she used Chaotic magic and her body is completely rejecting it. Kellan thought you might be able to bring her back like you did before, please Jack." Jordan's mother begged, it was so strange how similar they looked and there she was begging me to save her daughter from who knows what. Of course I would help Jordan if it was my dying wish.

"Jordan." I whispered, her eyes stopped. So far she was responsive, her hair was falling out of a bun in a mess. "Jordan, it's okay. You can come back." She stirred, but there was no other change in her condition. Her breathing was ragged, she looked to be in pain and struggling. I needed to pull her out of this, I searched inside myself for the connection to her. The web of connection touching me to everyone around her. Jordan the light of my life, I can't imagine my life without her. I would be nothing, a shell of a man without Jordan. I press my lips to her burning hand and draw out the pain like a snake bite. There was muttering around me. The boys voice sounded alarmed but I continued to press my lips upon her skin.

"This is nonsense!"

"Noah calm down." There was struggling behind me, and I was ripped away from Jordan. There was a purple mark where my lips had been but it was fading fast. Noah's hands released me with force. There were lots of words flying around the room but I couldn't hear them. I ran for a door, trying the nob and stumbling into a golden bathroom. I hunched over the toilet choking on a purple sludge that was escaping my body. Cameron's voice was hovering over me like a mother her hand on my back staying with me until all of the fluid left my body. I felt fine, but extremely disgusted.

"Is… she ok" I choke. Cameron looks serious but not as desperate anymore.

"Her eyes opened for a second and breathing is regular, she is still unconscious though. Jack what you did… I'm extremely thankful." She sighs looking guilty. "You have to return to the cell, It's not because we hate you," I felt tears well up "It's part of a plan, and it will be in effect soon, please hold on."

NOAH

I was so enthralled by her golden aura, I feel it flow through me unveiling my own darkness and exposing it to be improved. She was so honest with me, or maybe she was just unable to lie. To herself and me, she was always true to her emotions and wasn't afraid to show that she was scared or fight when she knew something was wrong. I had blindly been conforming to darkness and using death, sex, and blood to keep my defying emotions satisfied. I had my eyes opened by Jordan, and things I usually pushed away had to be dealt with. I am becoming something I am proud of. grab a towel and push it under the cold water. Jack had saved her by siphoning out the chaos, he didn't even bargain his freedom to save her, just did it out of goodwill or love. I was hoping not the latter. I hold the cold cloth on her forehead, she flinches for a second and then looks at me with those topaz doe eyes.

"You feel okay Jellybean?" I ask her innocently, jellybean, small, sweet, and tasty.

"I feel a bit better now that I'm cooling off."

"Well you need lots more rest. Can I get you anything?"

"Is this you being worried about me?'

"This is me caring about you." A blush raced across her already flushed face. "Oh no, I better not flirt with you or I'm afraid I may rise your temperature again!" I was partly sarcastic, but she gave me the saddest look I moved my head over hers and placed a kiss on her forehead. Her smile pulled at my heart. She was trapped here against her will but had the time and energy to make herself happy.

"Lets just relax for the rest of the day Jellybean." I climb in the opposite side of the bed and she turns towards me beckoning me to come closer. She nestles her head in my chest and closes her eyes. I hold my breath for a moment, how had I changed so drastically. I spoke my mind instead of my ego, I was…..in love.

"Jordan, are you happy here?" I was met with silence, her chest rose against mine.

"I could be happier elsewhere. Are you happy?" She replies with her eyes still closed, I could see the small veins traced across her eyelids.

"I will be happy when you are."

Some days past, some time was spent sleeping and a long nap was ended by a shift next to me. Too groggy to open my eyes I let Jordan slip out of my arms and step quietly away. I hear water running and a quiet tune hummed through the door. I was locked in a prison cell with my king's daughter, but it sure felt like home. I was looking at the ceiling now consciousness wavering to the hum of Jordan's voice. She came out hair damp and dripping in a black T-shirt and blue capri leggings.

"Do you feel back to normal?"

"Yes, that shower really cooled me off." I was up on my feet wanting to warm her up. There was a second where I hesitated in grabbing her hips, but her hands pulled my face down to hers so I could observe her gold kaleidoscope eyes for a second before she kissed the corner of my mouth, then the other corner and pulled away eyes telling me it was my turn. I pressed my lips against hers slowly giving her time to explore, she toyed with my bottom lip and I pressed her closer. Droplets of water were hitting my arms, my thumb caressing her cheekbone and other arm fiddling with her waistband. I pulled away, It was like taking the antidote away from a dying man.

"Jordan, your playing with fire right now." I take a step away aware of my heavy breathing. Her lips were pink and I wanted to go right back to them.

"So are you." She smirked and all I felt were flames when I brought my lips back to hers It was heating up in the room and I sat back on the bed and Jordan straddled over my lap. I planted kisses along her neck and stopped to breathe. Jordan twirled my hair in her fingers and looked in my eyes.

"What's wrong?"

"I don't want to rush this Jo, I care too much and I don't want to wreck it…."

"Don't worry about that, just focus on the present and talk to me. Noah," She stares deeply into my eyes, comforting me. "I love you no matter what."
