Chapter 4: Stranger

My knees nearly gave way. In the doorway stood a man with eyes the color of pine needels and skin the color of chocolate. His curly hair was a black that resembled the night sky. Out of instinct i smoothed out my dress. "good afternoon", the boy said. " i am looking for a Serena." The cold eyed man gave him a look of great disgust and finally said, "ah yes, do come in". The boy looked at me with a warm smile. "you are Serena correct?", he asked. "my name is Mason." He appeared to be holding something in a glass dish covered with tinfoil. I nodded, unable to speak. " aren't you new here?",he asked. I nodded again. He handed me the dish. "i live nextdoor. Here, a welcome gift", he smiled and soon was gone.
