I soon relized that he wasnt the only one staring. The entire class looked at me open mouthed. "ms. Serena Hemmings, i suppose?",he eyed me skeptically. "y...y...yes.",i stammered. Three boys behind me, each wearing identical Letterman jackets snickered. Mr.Dreadmont didn't seem amused, in fact he looked angry, "i suppose that you thought that arriving late to class on your first day would impress your friends?" Not knowing what to say, i said the first thing that came to mind, "no sir i dont have any friends.", my face went red. The boys behind me snickered again. "what i meant was i am new to town and don't know anyone yet." Mr. Dreadmont looked a bit delighted, but then i saw why, " well since ms.Hemmings clearly doesn't respect the rules, then you all will write 5 page essays on why rules are inmportant." The whole class glared at me. I am going to have a harder time making friends than i assumed, i thought to myself. As i looked around at the glaring faces around me, something caught my eye. In the sea of strangers there was a friendly face. It was Mason's and he was smiling. My heart was beating like crazy. I smiled back. My face got hot, i quickly turned around. But not before i caught Mason give me a wink.
