Chapter 52: Just Training With Friends
Once they were all inside, Oji took a seat in the spacious quarters and told Nabaha about the current war between the Qin and Zhou. At first Nabaha went to cut him off, but Oji told him it was actually vital background information before laying out the mission he was given. Going around the same area of Zhou that Nabaha had gone two years prior and giving the exact same lecture.
That earned a laugh as Nabaha poked fun at Oji. "What teaching? I bet you just played a recording, refused to answer questions and enjoyed the attention of anything female." The newly raised Elder of the Crimson Sect laughed.
As the Yori Clan Leader went to defend Oji as an excellent teacher she felt her jaw drop at his reply. "Basically, but it's still enough to raise the level of those Clans somewhat. Doesn't help that I barely understand a quarter of what I'm saying." Oji became extremely serious in an instant after his laughter ended. "The important part is the next bit though. The Qin attacked me to prevent us from finding or raising any geniuses from Zhou."
Nabaha's expression changed as black lines creased his brow. "That's nearly suicidal of them. If it wasn't you that was attacked the Crimson Sect would hit the Qin Royals so hard that there would almost certainly be a change in dynasty and a vast reduction of the lands they could hold onto. Meanwhile various rivals, including Zhou, would prosper as they gobbled up what Qin couldn't hold anymore."
The Yori Clan Leader interjected. "If it wasn't Oji? Why won't they react the same way with it being Oji?" The discrimination made her very confused.
While Nabaha was trying to find a polite way to respond, Oji answered flat out. "The idiots in upper management think I'll never make you and Nabaha's Realm, so they don't care about me. I wouldn't even be a member if I hadn't almost beat Nabaha when he was Early Bottom Origination and I was Perfect Broken Origination."
This deluge of information almost broke the poor mind of the Yori Clan Leader. For one thing, the young man before her who had only just graduated from being a Core Disciple was another Skeleton Foundation. Oji had crossed more than a Tier gap to nearly beat this genius, but evidently had a cripplingly low Potential given the comparative progress since then. Not to mention the fact that despite his terrifying skill and actually good Cultivation, Oji was treated as trash by the Crimson Sect. It didn't make sense!
The conversation between Nabaha and Oji kept playing out, not waiting for her. "But I'll be frank, if it wasn't me than there wouldn't have been a report of the incident at all. They sent someone who might even have killed you if he had the same advantages on you that he did on me. The guy was Beginner High Origination and brought a High Origination Sword to the fight. And me barehanded while trying to fend him off long enough to rip the sword from his hands."
Nabaha had to agree with Oji. "If I had been without my spear I don't think I could have won that. But, given how cautious they were, I think they'd have calculated in my spear if I'd brought it. Your pretty much the only person who could win a fight like that. I'm guessing you brought the old lady along to verify your story?"
"She's the Clan Leader of the Yori Clan, and that's the Clan that I was heading to see when I was heavily wounded. If they hadn't found me where I lost consciousness from exhaustion and blood loss I might well have died anyways." Oji tells Nabaha frankly.
After listening to the Yori Clan Leader confirm the tale with her own experience and the discovery of Oji by her Clan, Nabaha was faced with a difficult position. "I sincerely doubt the Crimson Sect authorizes direct action from an Deacon on these grounds, but I could suggest taking a few of my friends into the dangerous areas of Qin and Zhou for training purposes."
The Yori Clan Leader nods. Part of a top brass herself, she recognized how such a suggestion would likely be permitted. The very friendship would ensure Nabaha tried his best not to allow them to die while he and they both would benefit from the experience. Not to mention any material gains resulting from the trip.
"That should be plenty. It's a rather insignificant strike force, but the locals lack a powerful enough Skeleton Foundation and numerous enough Peak and Pinnacle Originations. If we work together with the Yori Clan and the city she sent her Clan to after discovering me... we should be able to annihilate them." Oji was looking forward to striking down the Qin. Speed was of the greatest importance though, as he truly wanted to throw off this attack before the Skull Sect responded.
Momo and Cifer wouldn't be ready for a war like this yet. That was Oji's sincere belief.
Nabaha had his outing approved and gathered 7 Core Disciples of the Crimson Sect to come with them in just over an hour. He brought a much different spear with him than the one he had been practicing with.
All the members of the Crimson Sect knew what it was, as any Deacon who rose from Core Disciples instead of later in life was given one. Each of them other than Oji hoped to make Skeleton Foundation before they turned 30 and were no longer considered disciples for the express purpose of getting one. But the Yori Clan Leader only had her guess, and that guess completely terrified her.
If she was right, than it was something that the Skull Sect was only rumored to have a single one of while the Royals treated each and every one of their small handful as national treasures!
A Foundation Weapon, able to boost the attack might of a Skeleton Foundation to a level that would shake the earth and shatter the skies!!!
