Chapter 4: 1.3

Kei felt himself being at a loss, digesting what happened to him since the start of the day.

'school' seem to at the start bare a close resemblance to the time he joined the 'academy'. he at the time put quite a lot of effort in order to gain full access to that place which had the biggest amount of recorded books in the continent.

but... it only took the first class to realise the two were nothing alike.

his original realm might be what they called 'a cultivation' realm, but it was really advanced. and he did, through his fractured memories, gained a lacking understanding about what the 'modern' realm was like, so he was not at a total loss. it was just... this... history class... why is he forced to learn useless things like who was the first to discover some continent which is not even close to his own? it was not like this person still live! and about some prisoner of war, why was he needed to learn about their suffering? it was war! what else would a prisoner feel? delight?

he also did not get why he had a book about passed territories and who conquered them at which time. all of those that did it were dead, and according to what he knows their families are not a overlord power who value their legacy. Why would he need to know something as useless as that?

In the cultivation realm there were fights all the time, and many tried to take each other territory. no one cared about the previous owner unless the territory was obtained through inheritance. who found what? who cares about that? all the the cultivators cared about is who kept it. there are history books, but they had never been forced to study them before, not to mention remembering and having to write it down like it held some sort of importance. it happens! it's in the past! what can be learnt from that? personal stories are passable, as you can learn from another mistake if nothing else, and there are many who left a cultivating journal to help others see what they did wrong and avoid it, but a history of a nation? how could that ever help!? and he needs to remember this? the worst is, not only does he have information on the time of war, but also time of peace. why does it matter who ruled over you at which time? your a peasant! you don't need to know! there was even a completely different subject about the different nations and how they are run, talking about important people in the past who helped 'contribute' to such legacy! what does knowing the laws of his nation do to him? does it forced him not to leave? no! can he change anything? no! would knowing anything actually do something for him? no! absolutely nothing! he would act exactly the same! all he needs to know was that at 'modern' realms they found the act of killing to be taboo and locked you up for that! that's all he needs! and the only reason the teacher still breath!

then, came literature... Kei truly felt like killing the moron who decided to make such a profession mandatory. he gets why some would be interested, there were many scholars interested in his realm. but forced!? why does he need to hear the dribbles of a person complaining about his child leaving home to live his life and learn the meanings of every word he used to describe his stupid heartbreak??? how would that help him in ANY WAY in life? did saying that kept that child from going away? no! he got it, and the 'poem' or whatever was really nice, it had some deep meaning, and showed well the writer loneliness and what not... but why, oh why... a high school student is in need of knowing it? at least in gym they could work out with their body! in the completely meaningless task of chasing around balls. did this place truly wanted to teach its 'students' anything? it was utterly useless! if there was no physics and math he would really feel like dropping out of school because it seem to try and make him dumber! it suddenly made sense to him how his third memory-blank could come from 'modern' times. he thought that guy was just a lunatic, turns out he just came from a place that had stupidity as its main value! in his previous realm, people learned nothing unless it helped them in some way in life, and if they wanted to know more, they did so as a hobby. the act of being forced to learn anything that would not play any role in his life just did not sit right with him.

so here he was, banging his head against his desk at the end of the day, scrutinising a book as if it was his worst enemy. worst part? it counted as NORMAL doing something like that. apart from some stares, many just went on with their life

"cheer up, Kei!" Allena couldn't help but say to him after watching him for a while "at least the day is over!"

Kei groaned "do i really need to do this tomorrow AGAIN?" he whined. dieing did not seemed so bad after all.

"yes" Allena said putting a hand on his shoulder, nodding with a solemn attitude "yes, we do" her voice as if declaring something horrible. she was obviously joking with him.

he groaned again, finally noticing few of the stares at him began looking lewdly at him from his voice. he might made people accept his current look, but he still looked like himself, and he was really sexy. he ignored them after flashing a look that instead of intimidate seemed highly seductive with his shining eyes, and him pouting, and stood up. putting his bag on his back "let's go" he mumbled going outside of this cursed place to 'his' favorite park through 'his' memories, talking to his best friend as they did. he knew full well it was where the male lead had seen the female lead for the first time. sighing, he still kept ignoring the feeling of longing that had never left him and accepting this to be the start of his own personal hell, where every part was made to torment him.

reaching the park, he hanged out with his best friend and talked, trying to act completely oblivious to the wind that seem to blow just a tiny bit weaker, blowing his best friend hair just the right way, the sun glowing, brightening her figure up and hiding him, and what could SWEAR to be a song he could vaguely hear as their talking. if he didn't know better, Kei would think he was insane. do all world-hoppers see things in such way? did something like this also happen in his world? how come he never noticed?

In the end, he managed to spend the entire time with her on that bench, smiling, completely hiding how troublesome he found it all and was not even kicking a fuss when they gained a new tail (main lead). was he the weird one for not remaining oblivious about the main lead sitting there for an hour trying to come up with excuses for his friend to stay there longer? luckily for him the background music quickly fading away, taking the other 'special effects' with it as well. he did not think he could deal with more than an hour of THAT.

Going to his house, he locked himself in his room, avoiding that brother of his and forcing himself to actually read his school books, he needed to get to good college. luckily for him he was a genius, and only had to read it once to remember, or he would truly consider dying for real this time. it would not even count as ooc! Kei Yuuma died that way as well!

putting his brilliant plan aside, he read all the books he needed for this year, just to allow himself to slack off while actually in class. in the back of his mind he reminded to himself he could not avoid his family forever. he was just truly at a loss what to do about his siblings NOT loving him. can you believe that? maybe his brother a tsundere? that make sense, no? it's impossible for anyone to dislike him, after all. our mc seem to completely forget being killed and labeled as a 'monster'. it was just not possible. though this place IS his personal hell. let's go with 'maybe by accident'. thinking so, for the first time in his life, Kei Yuuma skipped work. instead spending the whole day studying.
