Chapter 2: HOPES SHATTERED LIKE GLASS

So.., aniket opened the website and waited for the result to be displayed ... after a few trails the website went offline and a message was displayed that server under maintenance , we really regret for the problem and thank you for your patience. his heart was beating madly every minute passed by .. it was pounding out of his chest...his palms started to sweat , all he wanted was a seat in the IIT or NIT .. his mother started praying god . To be frank, she was begging for the thing which can't be bought with money not even with a truck full of money.. she was begging for IIT like all those 8 mothers out of 10 in India do.

Then the moment he was waiting for ,arrived ...now there was no escaping or running away from it..he had to face it !!

with all the courage left inside him , aniket opened the results tab and entered his ID and password...

Like every middle class house in the country, the internet connection was slow ... (neglecting the fact that it was the best that a middle class couple could provide their heir at that time... ) at last , his rank card flashed in front of his face . His father , who was standing behind his son keeping his hand on this fellow's shoulder , took back his hand . Aniket felt a warm liquid flowing down his eyes !!

Yes indeed you are right , he couldn't make it to the prestigious IIT or an NIT. He got a rank which was pretty good and would have got him a seat only if the country wasn't India... but the reality is far different... this is India.. here underpreviliged get more than the privileged class .. there are more underpreviliged (considered to be , in early 19th century but not now)! people in government services than the upper class people.. a priest cannot eat a balanced diet 3 times a day... but an underprivileged class man can buy his son an ice-cream worth 100 bucks...

And yes !! Aniket was from an upperclass poor family.. though the two terms are quite opposite you still have to digest it... he was ranked 57594 out of approximately 13 lakh aspirants. But he can't make it to the IIT because the government of India believes that a student ranked 240000 was more deserving than a student ranked 57594... but neither Indian parents nor society is ready to accept this..

His father was very angry and went out of the house banging the door behind him. His mother was already crying out loud enough for the neighbors to come over.. here Aniket was feeling empty he was ready to end his life !! he cut his veins out and waited for the death god to come and take him away .. what will happen to him?!!

will he perish like those hundreds of students who end their lives just because they can't reach their parent's expectations or will he survive and try to change the society...

wait and read to get to know what happens next !!
