Chapter 5: Meeting Nami's Family

Long story short, I explained what happened to Genzo, and he got the gist of the entirety of the matter. Apparently, Nami had paid attention to all the navigation books from the bookstore being transferred to my house. This urged her to sneak into my house and steal from me.

Genzo dragged Nami to complain to her mother, and I followed behind.

"BELLEMERE! BELLEMERE! Your little cat burglar has done it again." Genzo yelled.

A relatively slim woman with long fuchsia hair tied in a ponytail, grey eyes walked out of the door. She wore a blue checkered shirt, a yellow apron, and held a wooden spatula. The woman was Bellemere, a former marine and the adoptive mother of Nami and Nojiko.

"Jeez, what're you so noisy for this time Genzo…? Oh, and welcome home, Nami."

"I'm home, Bellemere!" Nami replied with a mischievous smile.

Nami and Bellemere conversed further, completely ignoring Genzo.

"STAY QUIET NAMI! For heaven's sake Bellemere, you must discipline her. Today she stepped into a private property to steal from someone. At this rate, her reputation will be completely ruined."

Genzo's veins budged out of his neck.

"BEHH"

Nami stuck her tongue out, which made Genzo on the verge of fainting from anger.

Bellemere just put a hand on Genzo's face and came closer to him. "Oh, what's the big deal, she's still just a kid. Besides, I'm sure you'll pay for her right? I can pay you back next time… With my body. ♥"

!!!!...

After blushing scarlet for a good few seconds, Genzo yelled, "Don't say such idiotic things!"

Watching this entire manga scene happen in front of my eyes, I couldn't help but roll on the floor and laugh.

"Mwah-ha ha … You old Sheriff… If I was you, I'd cling to her offer desperately considering I'm still a bachelor at such an old age."

Genzo's ears turned completely red at my comment, and Bellemere just giggled.

"Bandit boy! What the hell are you doing here?"

"He He… What a smart boy. I've never seen him around though…" Bellemere said.

After calming down, Genzo explained a little about how I just moved in and became the victim of Nami's robbing attempt.

Bellemere was a little surprised at my young age, but she still talked to me pleasantly. She invited me and Genzo over for dinner to apologize, and we accepted the kind gesture.

"Okay Nami, give an apology to Cross here." Bellemere demanded.

"That's unfair!" Nami sulked.

"You're such a klutz, Nami! You're supposed to not get caught when you steal!"

Nojiko said, her chin was held up. I completely agreed with her words too.

"Nojiko's right! If you had done your homework for a few days, you would have able to tell that my house is free pickings till late afternoon. Chhi… you're such a noob little girl"

"STEALING IS WRONG KIDS," Bellemere and Genzo yelled, crossing their arms at us.

"OWWW!" Nami and Nojiko had a scowl on their faces, annoyed with their mom yelling at them.

"You wouldn't have bought books for me anyway Bellemere!" Nami added.

"Of course, I would have… I do have enough money to buy a few boo-."

"Kuhum… Kuhum… Allow the hero to save the day once again. If Nami and Nojiko are in need, they could just come by and borrow all my books! I have all the navigation books this village has to offer." I thrusted my jaw forward.

"WOW… really?!"

Nami gave me a hug out of excitement.

I gently patted the loli Nami's head and said, "For sure, all I want in return is your soul and… for you to be my girlfriend forever!"

"Stay away from these girls, you bandit" Genzo yelled.

"YAYYY! I am a girl and I can be your friend!"

Nami jumped happily from getting a step closer to achieving her dreams. I couldn't help but settle just for the soul, seeing her innocent and pure pursuit of her dreams.

"So Cross, I'd like to thank you too! But… how were you able to afford all the books available at the bookstore?" Bellemere asked, her brows curved.

At Bellemere's question, I made sure to do the best acting of crying I could do.

"Sob… Sob… This is a very sad story, so make sure to grab a bite before I get started. Long… Long ago, I was summoned to this world. Then I ended up in the Conomi islands… Then Billy the Bandit found me and forced me to join them. 2 years later… I got them killed and stole their treasures. Thank you… The end."

After finishing my amazing origin story, I shifted my focus on consuming the infamous tangerines from the manga. I completely ignored the odd faces on Bellemere, Genzo and Nojiko at that moment. Genzo and Bellemere were even more startled because they knew at least parts of my story were true.

"YAYY... Now I am one step closer to learning navigation for my dreams and sail around the world" Nami grinned.

"If you can dream it, you can do it! Oh… Remind me later to extort some help from you when I become a pirate in the future." I said.

WHATTT!

"You want to be a pirate now, you bandit?!"

"Do you know I'm a former Marine?!"

Genzo and Bellemere bared their teeth at me.

"Eh… but I heard pirates are very dirty and bad…"

Nami cocked her head, unable to understand my choice of career.

"Don't get the wrong idea on pirates. While I agree that most pirates are fake and act just like bandits, a few of them truly choose to live in freedom and follow their dreams. In fact, Nami, your dreams may depend on you leaning on a strong pirate crew. Mwah ha ha…"

I put on a smug expression when I looked at everyone. Although I wasn't sure if I really wanted to be a pirate, I had a feeling that my mission from Isekai services may have something to do with it.

"How so…?!"

Nami tugged on an earlobe, confused on why she would have to become a pirate.

"If you want to truly explore the entire world, you must see the final island, Raftel, located at the end of the Grand Line… At the same time, the island is rumored to have the One Piece treasure… so going their may surely offend a lot of corrupt marines."

"Ahh… I guess I'm going to become a pirate too…"

Nami bit her nails and thought seriously about becoming a pirate.

"STOP! Don't put weird ideas in her head you bandit!" Genzo and Bellemere yelled.
