Chapter 2: Ch. 2 : His secret
"Here, make this a little smoother." said Gou Feng. As he leaned over Lin Lu to correct her drawing, Lin Lu's face was as red as a tomato. She could hear her heartbeat going lub-dub lub-dub lub-dub as she felt Gou Feng leaning over her.
As she watched him correct her drawing, she thought : Even though it's just a hopeless dream... "As long as no one is around, just let me dream!" she whispered quietly to herself.
That evening, as Lin Lu was walking home from school she heard a familiar voice saying angrily,"Didn't I tell you not to come looking for me?" Seeing a familiar-looking boy hold on to a lady's hand, Lin Lu dashed behind a big rock and secretly spies on them from behind it.
Although the lady was wearing a mask, it could be seen that she was very beautiful. She was holding on tightly to Xia Yi's arms and looking up pleadingly at Xia Yi.
Lin Lu looked at Xia Yi and the beautiful lady, and was not surprised. "Is that Xia Yi?" she asked herself. "Oh? An after-hours meeting with a girl? And it sounds so irresponsible too..."
The beautiful lady looked sadly at Xia Yi and said gently,"Don't say that! I miss you... I just wanted to see your face, that's all..." Xia Yi looked at the lady skeptically and asked,"But I'm worried for you. Aren't there a bunch of paparazzi lying in wait around here?"
Disappointed, the lady gave up and sighed. "But... okay, then... Don't forget to call, alright?" Lin Lu covered her mouth in shock and realization. "Paparazzi? Wait a second, isn't she that celebrity, Ming Yao?" she said to herself.
Holding her chin, Lin Lu thought : They're a couple... I've seen something I shouldn't have. Leaning over the rock to get a better look at the lady, Lin Lu thought : But is she really Ming Yao? Gotta make sure...
Suddenly, Xia Yi shouted,"Who's there?!" Lin Lu jumped up in shock and fright. "Step out here!" Xia Yi commanded. With a buck load of dread, Lin Lu slowly stood up. She guiltily avoided making eye contact with Xia Yi and confessed,"Sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop... but you guys seem so worried, so... "
With a menacing look, Xia Yi walked towards Lin Lu and demanded, "What did you hear, huh?" Lin Lu bit her lip and thought anxiously : What do I do? He seems really upset...
Seeing Xia Yi come closer, Lin Lu took a step backwards and bumped against a lamppost. "What do you think you're doing?!" Lin Lu's hand was trembling in fear.
Xia Yi placed his arm on the lamppost pole and leaned forward, trapping Lin Lu. He looked down at Lin Lu and glared at her. "You saw something you shouldn't have, so what now?" "I won't tell anyone, I swear!" exclaimed Lin Lu. Instinctively raising her hand to prevent Xia Yi from coming any closer, her bag slipped off her arm and fell on the floor, and her drawing of her and Gou Feng fell out of the bag.
"Oh?" Xia Yi said in surprise. Xia Yi and Lin Lu stared at the drawing for a moment before both reaching down to pick it up. Xia Yi put his hand on Lin Lu's head to prevent her from picking the drawing up. Picking the drawing up and holding it up to look at it, Xia Yi scoffed,"Hey isn't this Gou Feng? And next to him... you? Man you're such a little kid!"
Hearing that, Lin Lu stopped trying to get Xia Yi to let go of her head and instead started to grab at her drawing. Seeing this, Xia Yi held the painting at arms length, stopping Lin Lu from snatching her drawing back.
"RIP~" the drawing tore after Lin Lu had pulled to hard when trying to snatch it from Xia Yi. The drawing was now even torn into two halves, with her in one half and Gou Feng in the other.
There was a moment of silence as Xia Yi and Lin Lu looked at the torn drawing. Tears welled up in Lin Lu's eyes. She was so furious that she was about to cry. Biting her lip to stop herself from crying, she glared at Xia Yi with enough hatred to stab him a hundred times if looks could kill.
Xia Yi raised an eyebrow and half-smiled at Lin Lu. "Hey now you're not going to cry, are you?" he asked.
Looking at Xia Yi with tears that were very close to falling in her ocean blue eyes, she whispered loudly enough for only Xia Yi to hear clearly, "I would never shed a single tear, not in front of you!" Letting her hands fall to her side, she tightly gripped a half of her drawing and said beneath her breath,"You're terrible."
Xia Yi folded his arms and looked at Lin Lu. "Please, you're the one who went and tried to snatch it away!" Ruffling his hair, he started to walk away and said,"I don't feel like dealing with you. This is why girls are such a pain, they'll break down and cry over anything."
He stopped and looked back when Lin Lu did not retort to what he had said. Seeing her not having moved at all, with her head bowed and her fists clenched, Xia Yi sighed.
Walking back up to her, with one hand on his hip and the other holding a half of her drawing in his hand, he said,"Hey! I don't have any way to replace your drawing, but I do have a way to help you realize your dream!" At this, Lin Lu looked up at him questionably.
With a confident look in his eyes, Xia Yi offered,"I'll help you win Gou Feng over, and in exchange you have to keep Ming Yao and me a secret." "Huh? A deal?" repeated Lin Lu.
