Chapter 52: Talking to Nikita-Part 1
Yes they needed to work on a strategy to ensure that the evil present in her uncle did not cross over to future generations. It had to be stopped now in this life only.
Upon reaching home and parking the car, Dada ji headed straight for the kitchen to ascertain from Dadi ji the status of the rooms as well as to find out what was being cooked for dinner.
Tania headed for the Library which had now become a sort of study where they all met to read and talk about things. The sitting room had become a neglected area.
Upon entering the library, Tania saw her uncle Igor reading the newspape, but Nani ji was not there.
"He is always reading the paper, with such great attention, wonder what is so absorbing in it?" Tania thought.
Meanwhile, Dada ji had reached the kitchen. He had a strong sense of smell and could know what his wife Mira was cooking. Mira was a great cook.
"What's cooking?" He inquired.
"Your favourite," Mira replied at the same time winking at Nikita.
"I saw that! You ladies are having a joke at my expense," He responded with a hurt look on his face.
"Where did you leave my grand daughter?" Inquired Nikita.
"She entered the house before me and went to the library and I came to the kitchen to request you good ladies for tea," he responded with a smile.
"Yes of course, tea is ready!"
"We were aware that you would be back by 6 p.m."
"We need to speak to you Nikita, preferably after dinner, if you can spare some time."
"Yes of course, I will come to your room," replied Nikita.
"No, no, we three will come to your room first. Then we will go to Tania's room."
"We need to discuss something and thereafter we need to show you something." Dada ji added.
"I will call Igor if necessary?"
"No need to call him, this matter is between us, why disturb him."
Tea was over soon.
Everyone was chasing their thoughts.
Mira knew what would be the topic of discussion in Nikita's room.
Nikita was a bit apprehensive and was wondering what they all wanted to discuss and why they laid so much emphasis on not calling Igor.
Tania also knew what was to be discussed and was hopeful that her Nani ma would side with her.
Dada ji (Dinesh Sharma) was a bit apprehensive too. He knew that Nikita was aware of what her son was capable of. But like a doting mother, Igor could not do any wrong in her eyes. It would not be easy to convince her.
Soon dinner was ready. They had a display of Indian and Russian cusine. Everyone had a sumptious dinner and after a cup of coffee headed to their respective rooms. Tania did not enter her room but went to her paternal grandparents room.
Mira described how she had scanned the room. She checked for anything big or small that could be fitted in a tiny space like a flower pot. She had seen a number of James Bond movies and knew such things existed.
She had first checked behind the curtains, corners of the windows, behind the TV set, under the table and the chairs as well as under the bed. She pulled the double bed a little, not an easy job as it was quite heavy.
There was nothing placed behind the headrest area. She was looking for something small like a tiny pen type CCTV camera or a tiny listening device which had become undetectable.
She then closed the curtains to make the room slightly dark but she could not see any sort of light being emitted from anywhere.
She had then taken out her mobile and dialed her number in India. No one would be home at this time and no one would pick up her phone call. With her mobile call still dialing her home number, she moved around the room. But she did not notice any interference or clicking noises in any area of the room. This meant that Igor had not placed anything in their room.
She had then left her room and proceeded to Tania's room.
As in her room she checked behind the curtains, corners of the windows, behind the TV set, under the table and the chairs. She saw the tiny CCTV camera that Tania had fitted behind the TV set.
She then checked under the bed but could not see anything. She pulled the bed a little so that the head rest area was away from the wall. Here also, she could not see anything.
She then closed the curtains to make the room slightly dark. Except for the tiny light from the cctv camera behind the TV set there was no other light being emitted by any device. She then opened the curtains.
She then dialed her home number from her mobile. She moved around the room but there was no interference or clicking noises in any area of the room. However there was some sound being emitted from under the bed. As she moved the mobile closer, she saw that something had been pasted to the leg of the bed.
Thereafter, she had left Tania's room and returned to her own room. Then she dialed her husband to inform him about her search. But there was no reply. She then called Tania's number but there was no reply.
Tania was very happy with her Dadi ji's discovery.
Dada ji then narrated about her venturing to Nikita's room to call her to come downstairs in order tohelp in making dinner.
Nikita had been sitting on the bed looking through photographs. Some of these were black and white and others were coloured.
She had narrated about Anastasia and her family who were their neighbours. How the little girl used to visit her and her mother in law. How her father in law used to shout at her and drive her away. He even accused the family of being thieves.
She also informed about the fire incident and thereafter, how the villigers looked at the Gagarins with suspicion. The villigers considered them to be the culprits who had burned their neighbours alive. How her son Igor had taken after her father in law especially in the meanness angle. He wanted to aggrandise anything that belonged to another. As a child, he had received a lot of scolding and thrashing from her husband. But, as he grew older, he became meaner and meaner.
After hearing all that Dadi ji had to say, they all decided to go ahead with their plan of convincing Nikita that her son was no good and somehow take her to India.
Soon all the three of them left Dada ji and Dadi ji's room and made a bee line for Nikita's room.
