Chapter 22: The Inky Blood

Leon's feet were sinking into the airplane slowly until he fully inside a small room.

The place is full of foods and assortments with various varieties, it smells very good.

But Leon's attention was broken by a small whimper.

He immediately raised the hood of his jacket and gave the voice a side glance without exposing his face, it's a woman in a flight attendant outfit.

With slight eye contact, he put her into a deep sleep.

He caught her before she collapsed and let her rest on the empty chair.

Leon turned to his left and he saw his reflection in the mirror.

He had no mask on, this might bring him trouble if someone saw him. So he looked around the room if there is something that could be used to hide his face.

After a long search, his sight returned to the woman sleeping on the couch.

There's some kind of cloth on her neck, something a flight attendant usually wears.

He had no idea what it's called, but it will be able to help him hide his identity.

Leon carefully untied the cloth from the sleeping woman and drape it over his face, then tied the cloth behind his neck.

His reflection on the mirror is a little silly, but it was better than nothing.

From the mirror, he saw a kitchen knife glittering in the light. Feeling that it might be useful later, he put the knife in his pocket.

After he is done, he walked out from the door and made his way towards the passenger seats.

He walked slowly for a moment before started to smile when he found the red footprints in front of him.

He followed the track and it leads him towards the middle seat.

There are many people, so he stopped for a moment to think about his next step. It's guaranteed to succeed if he just walks up and immediately sucked the man into Kamui, but that is a very risky move for allowing a conscious and unrestricted human into his dimension.

If he remembers right, it was One of Obito's Mangekyou weaknesses. He could get attacked from his own dimension if he used an intangible in the real world.

He is also afraid to injure the other civilians if he tried to disable the man first... So it put him in a dilemma.

Even after thinking for a long time, he had no good idea in mind until he saw a bottled drink on the sleeping passenger beside him. Leon borrowed the drink stealthily without being noticed, using his body to block the other passenger sight.

He started to play with the water for a moment before squeezing the bottle with his hand. Some of the water was sent flying from the bottle and landed right on the pants of his target which accompanied by a couple of curses.

His prey already caught the bait, so Leon immediately returned the drink to its rightful owner and walked back into the room where the attendant is sleeping.

A moment later, the man walked past his door and without hesitation, Leon slowly followed behind him until he entered the washroom, it was empty.

So without hesitation, Leon launched a heavy kick towards the man's back which sent him flying towards the opposite wall, creating a loud sound. The man moaned from the impact but there's no serious injury.

It looks like the man had enhanced his strength somehow, Leon's fellow disciple that had a clean shaved head would be unconscious after that heavy impact.

The snake quickly parted from the man's neck and slithering toward Leon at high speed, hissing angrily while the man tried to stand from the floor and adopted a fighting stance.

Seemingly ignoring the snake's law, it jumped straight like a sword towards his chest.

Leon used the kitchen knife to parry the snake and there's a spark from the collision between their clash, it was surprising. The weak green looking snake is harder than metal.

Leon continues to parry the snake attacks with a knife in his left hand. It was nothing to him, but very annoying nonetheless.

Even while fending off the snake, he never leaves the man out of his sight, it also what prevents the man from taking any action.

But if he does nothing, it may never end. So with a sigh, Leon put the knife back into his pocket and faced the incoming snake with his bare hand.

It might be impossible for the magician in this world, but it was easy for Leon. Even with the snake's ridiculous speed, Leon managed to catch the snake in his hand easily before it pierced his chest, but at the cost of his hand, it was bleeding from the sharp edge of the snake, dripping with blood.

Even when enhanced with chakra, it can't make his hand immune to weapons with extraordinary origin or blade enhanced by magic.

The man is very experienced. He is already at Leon's side, trying to sneak attack at a crucial moment, using Leon's weakness as an opening. But Leon only leaned his head back slightly to avoid the man's punch.

The man repeated his attack for a few seconds but all of them ended up with the same thing, It landed without hitting anything, Leon able to evade his attack flawlessly until a soft kick from Leon disturbed the man's stance and followed by a palm strike to the man's chest, sending him reeling.

Leon attacked every part of his body which always accompanied by a cracking sound.

He let out one final kick on the back of his head and the man finally collapsed on the floor.

The man must have no knowledge about Naruto, to think he would attack someone with Sharingan in close combat, it's basically suicide.

The snake in Leon's hand suddenly stopped struggling and turned into a spot of ink, dyed the floor black.

Leon walked towards the man as he pulls out a handkerchief from his left pocket to wipe the ink and blood from his hand, then put it back into his coat. He is afraid the police or someone might be able to trace him from the blood, so he tried not to leave any trace behind.

Using his feet, he pushed the man to his back so he could see his face, it was a middle aged man you could find anywhere on the street, but there's a scar on his forehead.

"There's no need to pretend in front of me." The moment Leon finished speaking, the man opened his eyes and trying to attack him once again, but Leon was ahead of him and already stepped on his chest, blood spurted from the man's mouth, yet the man still didn't to say anything.

Leon increased the strength of his leg and the man below him groaned in pain, but he fearlessly peered into Leon's eyes without avoiding eye contact. As if reading Leon's soul he started to speak with a mysterious tone.

"You're a huge hypocrite... You who pretends to have a certain belief when you really do not."

"...Is that your last words?"

"Deceiving yourself and your heart, you'll not last long..."

"..."

"...The truth was you're able to stop your captive from escaping. It was easy for you, one who possessed the heavenly eyes that see the truth of all of creation, yet you do not act on your belief." The man's mouth opened and closed repeatedly, speaking with a flat and strange tone as if controlled by something.

Leon opened his eyes wide in disbelief at the man's words.

His mind started to think back about the female witch...

How did he know? Is it his ability?

"That was a sign of hypocrite... You're a Hypocrite!"

The man's words echo in his mind continuously and various thoughts started to emerge in Leon's mind. He was filled with self-doubt and confusion.

Did he really let the explosion woman escape?

No! that was impossible! He nearly killed her.

He was planning to kill her!

But it's also true that he was able to catch her movement with his superior eyes and yet, he did nothing...

He only watched as she crushed her necklace and escaped, right under his watch... and he did nothing.

But...that can't be...

Leon clutched his head with his right hand, he is very confused and didn't know what is right and what is wrong.

Leon knows that the man was right. With his Mangekyou, he had plenty of time to intercept her action and made her whole resistance futile.

And just like the man said... he did nothing and let her escape.

He let her... escape...?

Wait... that's not important right now, Leon shakes his head to clear his mind, but he can't help thinking why did he let her escape...

Why?

Why did he let her escape?

Is it a pity? or because she is a woman?

Maybe because she is beautiful...

But... that's impossible. She tried to kill him...

Then why... he will kill everything that stands in his path... He must survive and save his sister.

Sister...?

That's right! Ciri!

"Ugh..." Leon groaned, feeling exhausted. The moment he thinks about Ciri, his mind cleared a bit.

Before he realized it, he was already panting and crouched down next to the wall while holding his head and there's no sign of his prey, the place is empty.

That feeling earlier is very nasty... what the heck was that... Leon took a deep breath and pondering the man's ability.

The old witness said the man had the ability to turn the tattoo alive and it's true, but now he also had the ability to read his mind.

No, that's not right, Leon denied this notion immediately.

Even though he appeared to know his past, it doesn't look like mind reading. Especially the way he spoke, it's as if someone or something is controlling the man's speech. It also contains something weird that made him confused and had a hard to think clearly.

So it might be the man's lucky draw, this unknown ability can be considered a powerful ability if used properly and a very deadly one at that.

It was even able to make Leon doubt himself...

But is the man right?

Is he really a hypocrite?

"No, let's not think that now," Leon shakes his head once more as he stands up from the ground, dusting the dirt from his pants.

Even now, Leon can't shake the remnant of doubt from his heart and mind.

"There's no need for more nonsense, I will kill him right away the moment he enters my sight." he sighed, "He might have important information, but it was not worth the risk. His ability is too dangerous."

Leon would never have thought that his prey was not a herbivore but turned out to be carnivore instead, what a blunder.
