Chapter 4: Forceful Breakthrough
3 days later.
5 days had now passed since he had arrived at the Academy. Nothing special besides his constant increase in magic and physical strength. His increase in physical strength was as surprisingly faster than his magic increase as yesterday, he had brokethrough and became a 5th Stage Warrior!
He still hadn't guessed the origins of his mysterious increase in physical strength but didn't complain about it. If there was something that mages needed, then it would be the physical abilities of a warrior. A powerful assassin could kill a strong mage if the mage was not cautious enough.
It had already happened throughout history. 200 years ago, a High Mage from the eastern region of the continent was killed by a famous young assassin called Shadow. Despite being a Grandmaster Warrior Stage, he had still managed to slit the throat of the mage while in the middle of a battle. After the battle, he had become famous all over the world. He had also fought against many enemies which only made him grow stronger and even more influential until he had disappeared 128 years ago.
After that era, mages became even more wary of assassins in fear of them being like the High Mage that was killed long ago.
Zane sighed and blankly looked outside the window of his mansion-like dorm. At first, he had initially thought that he would have an exciting life at the Academy. But now, he was not content with the current situation. The students of the second circle was too cowardly and weak!
They always bowed their heads to the strong and influential people like Zane. His only hope would be the seniors that he would be fighting 11 days from now. Aside from that, if he wanted his life in the Academy to be more exciting, then the only place would be where his brother was.
The Inner circle of the Academy!
It was a place where background didn't matter and where the iron fist ruled. Students thought that his brother was one of the stronger students in the Inner circle of the Academy and he thought so too at first. But he then realized that his brother was still at 7th Stage Junior Mage, so how could he be the strongest if the requirements to graduating was becoming a Senior Mage?
Unless the Academy had students with low potential, then that wouldn't be possible. If it really was the case, then why would it even be named as one of the 4 Great Academies?
Therefore, the only place he could be content with was the Inner circle indeed! However, he couldn't go there unless he became a Junior Mage.
The only thing he would need to focus on was to cultivate his magic core even faster. If his speculations were correct, if he was extremely lucky, then if he collects the energy in the air using all his elements, then it would fasten his cultivation of magic core and become a 7th Stage in 10 days!
But doing so was going to attract bigger attention compared to his breakthrough last night. The leak of his element energy would definitely be felt if it wasn't contained by another person.
But the problem was where he would find another person. His brother wasn't available but there was still Lucian. Although it wasn't long since he had met him, he felt that the latter was someone who could be trusted easily. He was also talented to reach 4th Stage Apprentice Mage and if he truly helped Zane contain the leaking magic energy, then he could also be lucky enough to become a 5th Stage Apprentice Mage.
He decides to act earlier and try to find Lucian. He fixed his things, and headed outside to look for Lucian. But just when he was about to open the door to leave, a voice was heard calling for him behind the door.
"Zane! knock knock!"
Surprisingly, it was the person he was going to find. He immediately opened the door as he pulled Lucian in locked the door. Lucian looked at him with a confused gaze and started to explain what he wanted to do.
"Are you serious?! You are going to breakthrough into the 7th Stage in more or less than 10 days?! And you are also going to help me become a 5th Stage!"
"I said it might help you breakthrough into the 5th Stage."
"But still!"
"No buts! If I want to get into the first circle, then I would have to become a Junior Mage even faster. Be sure to keep this a secret."
Lucian nodded seriously as he placed his right palm onto his chest. "I, Lucian Evergreen, swear on my race to keep the secrets of Zane Auserwalt, otherwise, I shall be cursed and become a corrupted!"
A bright green light covered Lucian which made Zane cover his eyes for a few seconds until it faded. Zane was baffled and couldn't speak for a while. As a prince of a large empire, he knew what Lucian just did.
It was the Oath of the Ancient Elves created to keep their promises otherwise they would be damned by their race and become corrupted elves which were the complete opposite of elves. It could only be used once an elf in their whole life.
If before, Zane still had doubts of Lucian, but now it was different. He had sworn on his race and it would never fade away unless he dies.
Since now Zane was sure he could trust Lucian, they cleared out a large space in the hall as they sat down face to face.
He told Lucian to absorb the leaking mana energy coming out from his body and prevent it from leaking outside. After some while, large mana fluctuations started to appear around Zane's body which attracted the elements all around him.
This time, he had also used all 10 of the elements he had in his body to increase the mana in his magic core including the unfamiliar ones.
Different kinds of elements sucked the mana fluctuations around him rapidly as some even leaked which Lucian continuously absorbed.
Lucian's eyebrows twitched as he felt a familiar feeling which made him open his eyes wide in surprise as he looked at Zane is shock.
Zane sensed his movement as he shouted at him.
"Lucian! Focus before it leaks out!"
Lucian snapped out of his shock and continued absorbing the leaking energy coming from Zane.
A couple of minutes later, the mana fluctuations slowly disappeared as Zane and Lucian had broke through and became 7th and 5th Stage Apprentice Mages.
They took another couple of minutes to stabilize their magic core and relax themselves.
After a while, Zane furrowed his brows and looked at Lucian. " What were you doing earlier? You almost let it leak outside!", he angrily shouted.
Lucian looked at him left and right as he smiled wryly.
"How could I not be shocked. Clearly, you don't have the bloodline of the elves!"
"What do you mean by that?"
Zane was confused at what he meant and gave him a questionable look.
"You... I felt you release the Nature Element of us Elves!"
