Chapter 2: Meeting the Psycho

I look at him for the third time there he was, walking at his yard with his dog following his every stride. He fails to get some sleep again I can see the black circles in his beautiful eyes. If only he would come to me. I can do something to shoo those bags away. I watched his every move he look so strong with those legs that support him. A crease form at the side of his eyes as he laughed at the stupidity of his dog. I hate that dog. The other day he was barking noisily while his tail kept on wagging like it was a blissful day for him. I watched him circle his masters leg, 'mine'. I shouted in my mind. He was claiming my price as if it was his. I watched him trip his master and they both ended up in the grassy lawn. If I can only grab that dog right now I would rip him open and scattered his balls in the river where he would not be able to find it. I would rip his legs and hung it in the tree where he wouldn't trip my belonging. I see a small gush in my belonging, it was a small wound that need time to heal. There was a small blood from his skin and I can feel the sudden rush of excitement in my veins. No I have to wait, not when his wounded. I want him perfect and ready. I look at the damn dog again. That stupid dog had brought this to himself.

Jay woke up at the wrong side of the bed. He was hammered with a headache and a piercing sound of his telephone. He looked at the clock just above the fire place six o'clock. Furrowing, he looked at the piercing light through the curtain, no that wouldn't pass as a six o' clock. He looked at his wall clock again.

"Great it stopped." He grumbled as understanding dawned at him. For the third time since he woke up the phone ring again. Grabbing it he managed to mumble some incoherent reply.

"I'm sorry sir did I wake you up?" The man at the other line said.

"No genius, I was talking in my sleep."

There was no reply in the other line.

"Who's this?"

"This is Mark sir. Officer Mark Williams." The man answered with so much enthusiasm.

"And?" Jay grumbled. He suddenly remembers the kid he was talking to last night.

"You asked me to arrange a meeting with my sister remember? She would be at the Ramshock by three pm today sir."

Jay's attention was totally invaded by the boy. Sitting up straightly he grabs for pencil and paper by the table. "Ramshock? Three?"

"Yes sir." Jay imagine the boy saluting him as he answered.

"Anything that would make me know it's her?" Jay questioned as he contemplated for time.

"Oh, that… she'll come to you." There was a little bit of hesitation at the boys' voice.

"All the best that you can offer?" Jay couldn't help asking as he raised his brow as if the boy could see him interrogating.

"That's what she told me to tell you." Mark answered a matter of fact.

"Great!" He exclaimed as he brushes his hair with his finger.

"She's quite odd sir." The boy supplied at the other line.

"Yeah I kind of get the idea." He answered back as he searches for his cellphone at the couch.

"Uh, sir I've got to go, I just call to tell you that."

"Yes of course, thank you." He was about to put the cradle down when he gave up looking for his phone, and instead ask the boy at the other line, "What time is it Mark?"

There was a slight paused before Mark answered, "Fourteen hundred sir."

"Perfect!" Jay muttered as he rolls his eyes. Thinking about meting some narcissistic prick and being late. Way to perfect.

Jay sat at the left corner of the room where he could watch the whole place, from the door to the comfort room. He was late and she is totally late. Jay look at his coffee he should have expected it, women can never be on time. They set the time and surely they would miss it. "Big time!" He brought the cup to his lips and watched a woman enter the café. She was wearing a skirt and her hair was tied like a bun at the back of her head. She was wearing this incorrigible big spectacle that hangs to her nose. "Cliché, and she's late." He whispered through his cup.

The woman beside him started laughing. He wasn't really paying attention to her. He wasn't even aware that she's there all this time. Pushing her away of his thoughts he watched as the woman with large thick glasses stride towards his direction he readied himself and started to stand up, however he was surprised when the woman took a sit at the vacant place just in front of his table.

"The hell?!" Jay grumbled as he stood up flaming. He expects that she was the one who's going to sit in front of him not in front of his table. "What's with the 'she'll come to you'?"

"Sit Mr. Sullivan." Jay stood frozen as he heard the woman beside him address him. There was a touch of mockery and laughter in her voice, which heightened up the irritation in him.

Jay looked at her. "You…" Jay started unbelievingly. She had her curly hair framing her head like a crown. She's wearing blouse that was not fit yet not too big for her. He could not guess if she's wearing slacks or a skirt or a pants or a short below the table.

"We wouldn't like you charging shamelessly at that poor girl now do we?" she continued.

"Mary, I believe." Jay said between his teeth. Swallowing the growing irritation for the woman, he doesn't like where this is going.

"Sweet," she whispered as she smiled to herself, "first name basis I guess." She continued whispering almost to herself. "Sit down Jaybird." She said pointing to the chair in front of her.

Managing a self-control Jay sat gingerly at the chair indicated at him.

"Oh, and let me set the record straight I wasn't late."

"Then why didn't you say anything since I came and sat incidentally beside you." Jay asked, he couldn't help but snapped at the woman in front of him. He was right a narcissist.

"Woooh! We have a snapping turtle in the table. Admit it pet you lose in our little game." She said looking at him directly.

"Game you say?" Jay looked back at her, puzzled. 'This is one crazy idea'.

"Well, "she said pursing her lips as if thinking, "I wasn't wearing a lousy dress like you expected, though you see I was really wearing my pj's pants, but that was totally out of your criteria of me, right? And yeah you were like expecting me to wear those large eye glasses, sorry dear I had my contacts on, though I have some spare you could see them if you like. So basically you were wrong, Jaybird." She blubbered and as she finished she winked at him as she lifted up her tea cup and sip on it.

Jay's brow flickered specially with the way she addresses him, "I see you're not aware of the word fear."

"Oh please, spare me the tough bully image detective, we both know that you need me and you'll need me in the future." She said comically.

"That scares me." He said platonically.

"Flattered. Really." She retorted with the same piece of voice.

"I came here to do some business with you Ms. Williams." There was no touch of business in his voice. He was right and she was wrong. She is an egoist.

"Wow that was fast. Last name basis. Yehey! Here comes the bad ass cop." She said comically still looking playfully.

Jay's frown grew deeper.

"Ooooohhhh…. Don't go telling me I'm some self-centered know it all bitch. You're just afraid to accept that I'm smarter than you can handle." She said giggling and making a smacking sound.

Shaking his head Jay managed to control his anger. "What do you know about the case?" He started figuring that he should go straight to the point than playing the trick or treat to the woman in front of him.

"KJ" She pouted as she looked at her cup. She stared at it for a while and as if she had seen something funny in the cup she giggled again. "You haven't read the files." She pointed out.

"Listen to me smart ass. I came here with just three hours of sleep. So don't get cocky on me. I wouldn't come here without knowing anything about my case." Jay exploded.

"Oh boy his getting sentimental." Mary giggle again and stood up. "Come on detective you're getting peachy with this crowd you need some air." She said starting to march at the door.

Jay's jaw almost fell down as he followed the woman's movement. She was wearing pajama pants and a flip flop. She has a small pack bag attached to her back. As she pulled open the glass door the air came sweeping to her direction and mess up her already unorganized hair. It wasn't black as he first thought, it glistened mahogany as the light bounce into it. Just like her eyes, he thought. He couldn't tell that from inside the café, the only thing that he wondered is if that was because of the lenses that she insists that she wears.

He stood up and started following the woman at the door who seemed to be enchanted by her own world. He was right again, he confirmed to himself, through those laughs and crazy remarks she was an antisocial lass. Confirming his thoughts she tripped at the ramp, but she managed to keep herself standing still, proving that she was being tripped all the time. He almost laughed and commented, however the woman glared at the ramp, as if it was the ramps fault that she tripped.

She pointed at it and said, "I shall banish you from your existence unmoving uncaring rock, but your cousins would punish you." She said smugly as if she has every right to do so, or more like what she was saying make any sense at all. Then she looks at Jay, "And you!" she pointed at the man just the way she pointed at the ramp, "You should have spoken. Look what you have done to this poor ramp his going to get a cold shoulder from his cousin because they have to punish him."

With an amused look at Jay's face he looked at Mary, "Don't you think you should blame yourself?"

"Why?" She looks at him as if she had done nothing wrong and he was talking nonsense.

"Because you weren't looking perhaps?" He suggested mockingly, he felt like going out of the café did do something good on him. He was winning over this woman that had done nothing to him since the moment they met but to race him face flat to his man pride.

"I'm not supposed to look for myself. And you as well are not supposed to look for yourself." She stated as if she was stating a matter of fact.

Jay just raised a brow at her. What shenanigans is this woman talking about?

"You see Detective Sullivan you're supposed to look at me, that way I'm safe, I'm supposed to look at you, that way you're safe."

Jays' heart beat started to beat so fast not because Mary was close to him and he could see how adorable her eyes were or how gorgeous her little proud nose was, not even her wet lips that just keeps on lashing at him whenever there was a chance. His heart pounded crazily with her words.

"H…how?" he almost couldn't find his voice. And as if a cold bucket was splash on him he grabbed the woman in front of him, and looked at her in scrutinizing way, "You…"

Unruffled Mary look at her captor and constraining her laughter she put her palm against her captors' chest and felt his unyielding beating heart beneath it, "I admit I indulge myself in imagining a warm embrace from you but a rough handling was really unimaginable." She said shakily as she controlled herself from laughing. "You rather look stupid do you know that?" She said as she looked at his blazing form.

Without saying anything Jay release her, but his eyes never left hers'.

"But you know," She said as she claps him on his shoulder, he just noticed that she was really small. That's shy she said he look stupid. She looks at him directly in the eye, he couldn't distinguish the mockery and amusement between her look, "you're right about one thing."

"What?" He roughly asked.

"You are looking for a woman." She said suggestively with her brows wiggling, and without any further ado she dramatically bowed and spritely made her way out of his grasp. "I enjoyed our little talk Mr. Jaybird, till next time." She said, and even before he could react she sprinted out of his sight.
