Chapter 5: Let's Live Together Forever.

The inside of the box had a blue velvety lining. It was the same box my mom had. Only the name was never engraved on it. My mom… it was hers. She loved it. It was her little secret keeper.
" What's in there mama???" I chipped in. I was sad that day for losing my sweet dear hair pin.
"there is magic in there" she whispered with googly eyes.
"really???" that got my attention.
" yes of course" she chuckled . "it's a place beyond happiness. It is paradise." Dad smiled. He wrapped his arms around us ad kissed us. I giggled cheerfully. We were the happy family.
" so princess… tell this box what you wish for and if you promise to be a good girl it might give it to you." My mother smiled. I stood up immediately .
"I want my mama and papa and me to be together forever."I prayed to the box "oh!! And also I want my jade hairpin back. I lost it somewhere. I promise to be a real good girl"
I quickly open my eyes to see two sets of eyes looking at me with pride happiness and admiration. I blushed at that.
"You are a darling, Violet" my dad pinched my cheeks and laughed when I pouted. It was the best.
"Mama, can I see inside now??? The box is really curious. Please let me see it once. I promise I will always be a good girl."
"No koneko" gramps said coolly from behind. "It is dangerous." I could hear my dad whisper to my mom.
"Why??? Please let me see. I was a good girl. I will be really good" I had no idea what took over me but I really wanted to see it. I was on the verge of tears
"Because, there is magic in it, it will stop working on your wish if you open it now" gramps smiled while taking me in t o her arms.
"Really???"
"Yes, so let's go get some ice cream 'because Nana is reaaaaallllly hungry"
I giggled at her gesture.
"keep it safe, while I am away" my mom said.
"We have talked about it honey. We are going together in this" my dad hugged her tight.
"she is safe honey. It is all for her" and then it all fell silent.
"Nana?? Where are mama-papa???" I didn't see them for a week now. They never left me alone for such a long time.
" they must be here somewhere koneko" her voice was distant.
"They need to be alive" she said to herself " they should be."
I ran to their room. I couldn't see gramps like that. I needed mama. I needed papa to play with me. Tell me a lots of bed time stories. I look for something, anything that could help me to find him; them.
MAGIC BOX... it was there. Again!!!
"Nanaaa!!!" I run towards gramps with the ox in hand and tears rolling down my eyes.
"I have been a good girl nana. I was always a good girl. The why didn't this magic work???" I was crying the fullest now.
Gramps was shocked. Speechless. Her hands shook when she opened it.
There was a pendent and a letter in it.
"Keep her safe. We return what we took. Give the heir of dreams the gift of heaven
Look for me when you can on the flower garden"
The letter ended. The ink was unnatural blue like it was squeezed out from the bluest Clematis.
Gramps traced every word of the letter. Her face was pale but her eyes looked for answers; answers to a million unspoken questions. She stayed still for a while then slowly opened the box. It had a violet reflecting pendent, drop shaped and roughly cut. It could barely fit into my palm.
Finally she looked at me. "Koneko, tonight I will take you somewhere. That's where your mama went. Your papa went. We will meet them. For one last time, let's see them together." A single tear escaped her eyes.
Together… last time … gone…
I had no idea what she meant, but I knew something bad happened, something that could never be reversed, and something that changed our lives forever.
