This is a horrible book. It’s so bad I want to give it a zero, but I can’t, so I give it a 1. Just avoid it. The translator is a sweetheart, and even though the English is super choppy, it’s not behind a paywall so I can’t really be mad at that. Plus there are explanations for colloquial and formal Chinese things that are really helpful, so I really can’t fault the translator here. Starting the book, there was some potential, but this potential died a horrible horrible death. The FL is literally the weakest heroine I’ve ever seen, meanwhile she’s supposed to have this super high IQ which you would think she would actually use, but no. She’s painfully ditzy and it makes no sense. Author writes her to have skills that should be able to pay bills, yet she uses them for incredibly mundane things and literally sells herself for money. Then she has moral values so she doesn’t want to “cheat” on the man she sold herself to, yet she constantly puts herself in ambiguous situations with her ex-boyfriend who she broke up with because he literally cheated on her. Her ex professes he loves her while still being with the woman he cheated on FL with and other women also, but is raging mad because she has a “boyfriend”. She can’t get over her ex and essentially just drags them along because she doesn’t want to get her ex in trouble with her mafia boss owner. This mafia boss now decides he’s in love with her and kind of tries (?) to be sweet to her, but then not really because he’s constantly beating her up whenever he’s upset with her? I’m even worried for the author because the FL is stuck with horrible choices for her significant other, and the choices are horrible in a way that shouldn’t be accepted in a relationship, whether because of love or some other overarching reason. The mafia boss seems to be the final ML, but hello??? Domestic violence is not cute??? Even if the ex is the final ML, hello??? He cheated on her unprovoked?? And if it was provoked for some reason, why is he chasing her without simply explaining the reason why? Especially when FL has made it clear that the cheating is something she can’t tolerate????And the mafia boss’s brother tried to grape without the g her???I guess I’ll never find out if he succeeds and I’m okay with that. There was one decent potential ML but he was clearly written as a plot point so that’s not going to go anywhere meaningful. I’ve decided to drop it at chapter 218. I completely understand why the uploader here stopped after 94 because I’m sure they dropped it too. This is literally the longest review I’ve ever written, because the book is just that bad.
