Chapter 10: Tom is a CEO?
Sab brows knitted looking directly at Veronica who also looking at her fiercely.
"These shoes is perfect for your new look and attire. Also, we don't have your sneakers anymore. The garage track already took your old and dirty sneakers. Because of this, I am paying it with these new elegant shoes," Veronica proudly wave on air the 5-inch white stiletto sandals in front of Sab's face.
The little girl faces darkened, she never wore anything with heels and she also doesn't want to. Though most girl prefers anything beautiful especially bags and shoes but she's not. Not sure if because her poor lifestyle but she really hates girly shoes and hates stiletto.
"My shoes is not yours to throw away.... Get lost!!!!!" she screamed in her thought. Not wanting to make a scene, she just looked at woman fiercely. If it was gone, what could she do. But she refused to give in.
"Have you not thought about your husband's image? You look okay but he's surrounded by beautiful woman. You can't let them win easily right? Don't you know who he is?" Veronica is also being stubborn as well. If she can turn this little girl into a refined looking woman, she was hoping that Thomas will be a little lenient or let go her ignorance a while ago.
Sab's face become less angry. Tom looks dashing this morning wearing dark blue suit and was bewildered to learn that he will just go to work. Normal people like her will wear something like that if they are lucky to be invited in a formal dinner or party. "Was he that rich? Do I really have to change and meet his standard?" she shook her head; she had not thought that possibility and she doesn't want to.
Tom said he's a businessman not a celebrity. A little changed would be enough, not a total transformation. She was about to speak when she felt someone watching them.
Both Sab and Veronica unhappily looked at the man standing near, listening to their arguments.
"Hi Madam, I'm Alvin, Mr. Del Monte secretary. He will not be able to attend to you, so he asked me to pick you up and bring you to his office. He's in emergency meeting right now," the man explained calmly, his wearing black suit about same age as Tom.
Due to her anger Sab rush out exiting the Salon without giving another word but Veronica followed and angrily pulled Sab's wrist to make her stop but she almost fell on the ground due to an unexpected strength from the little girl. She's taller and plumper but she was dragged easily by this little girl.
Sab saw Veronica almost falling, her reflex was fast and hold immediately the woman's arm before it's too late.
This was also seen by Alvin, so his instinct was to run and help, both end up holding Veronica's arms who still seem shocks.
"See, if you're not wearing that deadly heels, you won't stumble easily," Sab sounds irritated before she let go and walk out in a flash.
Now that they get rid of her shoes, she needs to spend and buy a new one. She has little money now, even she'll buy the cheapest one, she'll be broken in less than a day.
"These people..." she was speechless; her head is spinning due to anger. She can't win by words in any arguments and she can't also win really by physical strength obviously. She's quite useless without her endurance to take in hardships and insults from other people.
"Should I ask that man to buy me one?" she thought. He said he is my husband; a husband should help their wife, right? Real one or Fake, they should. She smiled helpless thinking of this.
Alvin was driving slowly, his eyes kept on checking on the mirror at the little girl making different faces. His thinking the relationship between the little girl and his boss. When he was asked to buy women clothes, he thought it would be for his secret lover.
Seeing the little girl, he can't believe that she could be his lover. The little girl face is pretty but she's more on the cute side than the gorgeous and sophisticate like the boss used to date. He only seen him date matured and successful woman on their career field.
Thinking about the new house and this little girl, he knew nothing at all, and he felt really frustrated on himself. He felt useless as personal secretary for not knowing personally his boss.
Alvin led Sab to the CEO's office. They took a private elevator which used only by higher position in the company and him as CEO's personal secretary. The little girl kept quiet and did not pay attention to the surroundings.
Not noticing the employees curious look as soon as they walk into the building. She seems in deep thought of something, so he did not dare to speak. He just made a sign and led the little girl where to go.
Sab's was busy thinking on how to open with Tom and ask him to buy her new sneakers without losing her face. She thought of different ways but unable to decide which one would work best. Her face is not that thick, giving her shelter and food was already too much and now, she was thinking to ask her to buy new shoes.
Looking at the salon's slippers, it was comfortable, but she can't use it at work right? She came back to her senses when someone spoke.
"Good afternoon Mr. Lim, who is she?" a beautiful woman dress in formal asked.
"She's a guess. I'll bring her to CEO's office," Alvin answered to end the conversation. No one dared to ask for more details upon learning she's CEO's guess but the women around gave each other a questioning look.
They are curious to know if she's a new blind date or not. Poor girl, she might be dumped as well.
Sab smiled politely before leaving. She did not say anything since Tom mentioned that she will only be his wife in selective people only.
Sab turned to Alvin as soon as they entered the huge office.
"Tom is a CEO?" she asked in amusement. His words just sink into her brain.
Alvin was shocked at her question. He then concluded that this little girl was not his boss lover. If she was, she will not ask this basic information about his boss.
He respectfully answered, "Yes, he's the owner and CEO of this building and XX company."
Sab heart stops as she gave the man an unbelievable look. How can she entangle a CEO? Was this a luck? This man also openly declared that she was his wife at the salon. Now she can understand why Veronica acted that way even after learning that she was his wife, who would have thought that he will like someone like her.
Alvin left the room after uttering few words.
She didn't hear what he said, she nodded not understanding what's that for.
She tried calm herself, she needs to think straight.
Being with someone powerful and loaded like Tom is a good thing for her. However, she can't help getting scared of possibility of hurting herself at the end.
She shook her head few times. She cannot understand why he choose her, why didn't he asked someone else to be his fake partner. Someone with same level as him.
She doubts with his money, influence and looks, no one will turn him down. For sure, there would even be lots of volunteer if he will announce it in public.
Nonetheless, the most important is not to trap herself in their situation. Just a year and she'll be able to free herself and give a better life. Whatever his reasons, is not important to her.
During this time, she'll make sure to guard herself and her heart. She has no plan and energy to fight with other girls. She wants a non-complicated happy life in the future. A man like him will only bring troubles for her. But she herself is also troublesome, it might be a tie in the end, she thought but disregarded it.
Sab scanned the office. It was huge but looks very relaxing. The office table is huge wooden with modern curve design on the side. Even with 3 24" compute monitors, pile of documents, and other stuff, it is still spacious.
Then she notices a modern design bookshelf at the corner but did dare to touch it. She rarely read even when she was studying. She was not the last in ranking, but she describes herself as survivor.
It has also a huge brown sofa with mini green plant on top of center table with unique design. This huge sofa seems very comfortable and looks very inviting, but she felt inappropriate to sleep now.
There is also functional mini kitchen inside. Overall, the office is very manly and unbelievably nice. It was her first time seeing and experiencing this kind of luxury. Her heart felt excited but also felt awkward.
To get involve for someone like Tom and be his fake wife was like a dream, as of now, she can't say if it's a bad dream or a good dream.
But standing in his office, seems unreal. She felt empty and scared at the same time.
