Chapter 28: A Good Afternoon
Rattata's Quick Attack never reached Rinan because a sudden gush of wind blocked the rat's attempt. Rinan looked up and saw Pidgey flapping his wings as the bird hovered above him.
Rattata squeaked as he jumped to show that he was angry. Pidgey chirped and ignored Rattata as he perched back onto Rinan's head.
Rinan felt conflicted and thankful towards Pidgey because of what the pokemon just did. He was not really used to express his thanks but changed his mind because Pidgey was not a human. "Thank...thank you."
Akira, Nori, and Koga stopped what they were doing and looked at the Hyuga kid. After a few seconds, they continued what they were doing.
Rinan did not know how he should react to such a situation but he felt that it was not a bad thing to thank someone once in a while. Pidgey flew before him, face level and looked at Vulpix being carried by Nori. Rinan saw this and asked, "You want to be carried as well?"
Pidgey chirped and flew near him. Rinan grabbed the bird and hugged him. Pidgey rubbed his face onto Rinan's chest.
Rattata saw this and gave a slight squeak. He ran away and followed Chansey, who was busy cleaning the room.
Akira saw how human-like the pokemon acted and understood what Okami had said about pokemon. Indeed, they were purer and their intentions were much more sincere than humans do. "Thank you for letting us stay inside your house, Okami-kun."
Okami smiled. "No problem. This house needs some human presence after all. And it's not bothering me at all because you're nice."
"Heh! Have you seen our notes yesterday?" Akira asked as he sat down. "We visited you but you were not around."
"Yeah. I've just graduated and this is my first day as a Genin."
"Well, congratulations. Have you met your Jounin-sensei? I know that the ceremony was today."
Okami shook his head. "I don't have a Jounin-sensei as of the moment, Akira-san. As for now, I want to concentrate my energy in developing my clan and clan Jutsu."
"Just tell us if you need help," Akira offered, his eyes fixed at the Genins who were busy playing with the pokemon. "These pokemon of yours, they sure are good."
Okami noticed that it was his chance to invite him to become a Pokemon trainer. "Ah, Akira-san, why don't you become a Pokemon trainer and have your pokemon? It will not hinder your Jutsu at all."
"I'm kind of interested. Are there any other things that I have to prepare to become one?"
"Nope. Just be sure that you are well-rested so you will have the proper stamina and chakra to test the Pokemon Jutsu."
"I see." Akira looked at his watch and it was almost 5 pm. "It's time for the kids' training, Okami-kun. Thank you for entertaining us."
"No problem. You can visit, anytime."
Akira stood up. "Hey, everyone. It's training time. We've got to go!"
"That fast?! Is it already 5 pm?" Nori asked as she tickled Vulpix.
"Okay." Koga gave Akira a serious look, faced the pokemon and patted the trio's head. "See you, tomorrow."
Rinan had a smile on his face as he let Pidgey fly away and walked towards Akira.
Akira gave him a weird look. "Rinan, you're smiling now."
Rinan's smile froze. He looked down and coughed a bit as he changed his mood. When he gazed up, his face became serious once again. "You're imagining things, Akira-sensei."
"Sure..." Akira chuckled and turned around. "Goodbye, Okami-kun. See you next time."
"Yes, Akira-san. Thank you for coming here as well."
"Goodbye, Okami-kun!" The trio bade their farewell and followed Akira outside.
As soon as they left the house, the pokemon continued what they were doing a while ago. Okami felt that the pokemon were very smart and knew exactly what they were doing. He was about to go upstairs when the Pokemon App appeared on his hand.

"HELL YEAH!" Okami shouted with joy when he knew that he could redeem another one to complete his ten pokemon. He scanned the list of available pokemon and weighed his options. After a few minutes, he decided to redeem Venonat because he could upgrade Psybeam to Master grade with Kadabra and Butterfree, Gust skill to its Master form through Pidgey and Butterfree, and Poison Powder with Butterfree and Paras. He felt the familiar sensation when he redeemed Venonat and waited for the light to dissipate.
He saw an insectoid Pokémon with a spherical body covered in purple fur, which he believed to be poisonous. A pink pincer-like mouth with two teeth, stubby forepaws, and a pair of two-toed feet were visible through its fur. Its limbs were light tan. There was also a pair of white antennae sprouting from the top of its head. However, the most prominent feature on its face was its large, red compound eyes.

Okami realized that the only thing left for him to do to redeem the Pokemon Center was to hire a receptionist. He was not sure if his Chansey could be used to complete the requirements. Nevertheless, that was one less of a headache for him.
Venonat stared at him as he made a chirping sound. Okami understood and opened his fridge to get some tuna sushi and gave it to Venonat. The bug pokemon became happy as he received the food and ate with gusto.
"I must have my Pokemon Center tomorrow."
Okami wanted to carry Venonat but he was afraid of being poisoned. He asked him through Telepathy and felt elated when he found out that the poison only oozed out of his body if he wanted to. Okami then brought Venonat to the Pokemon Duplicator. Soon enough, there was another Venonat that was standing beside the original one. He brought it outside towards the forest entrance and released it, thereby earning another 10 Dream points. He then converted the new Caterpie and Pidgey on his list into Pokemon Points and earned another 100 PP.
He checked his Pokemon App to know how many points he had.

Okami treasured his DP because of the skills he could do with it. Dialga's and Palkia's skills all required DP which could play a major role in shifting the tide of the battle. He could also meet the mysterious God by using DP.
As for PP, he was very glad that the 1,000 PP target was slowly achieved. If he could befriend at least six people, then he could unlock the Pokemart and start earning like a true Pokemon Emissary. He tried befriending people randomly but he did not earn any PP. The Pokemon App explained that befriending should take its natural course and the other party should take the initiative. As for Reika's case, they had their previous interactions when he was hospitalized due to fainting. It was just pushed to a greater degree when Iruka came into the picture.
Okami teleported inside his old palace and went outside to visit Baki. The shop was filled with diners. His eyes shifted towards the counter and saw Happiny who was busy clinging onto Baki's arms.
Baki saw Okami and waved his hand.
Okami approached the counter. "Hello, Baki-san. Good afternoon."
"Hello, Okami-kun. What brought you here?"
Okami stared at Happiny as he conversed with her inside his mind. He was surprised by what she said. After hearing her recommendation, he changed his plan. "Is Happiny giving you any trouble?"
Baki hugged Happiny. "This cute little thing? Hah! She is such a delight here. Customers even come here just to see this wonderful pokemon."
"That's good to hear. I am very glad that you find her adorable."
"Yeah. Even my son and daughter love her. Look how happy she is."
Okami summoned the Pokemon App and checked her status. He was shocked when he found out that she was already level 14. He suspected that they overfed this playhouse pokemon.
He wondered where he could get an oval stone to evolve Happiny to Chansey in the day time.
"Baki-san, I came here because I want to make a proposal with you. I want to hire you as a receptionist of the Pokemon Center I am about to create. Are you interested?"
Baki gave him an odd look. "A receptionist? Why should you hire a grown man like me?"
"It's because of your compatibility with Happiny. Actually, she was the one who suggested this idea."
"You actually understand her?"
Okami nodded. "Via Telepathy. Every Pokemon Trainer does understand their pokemon."
Baki paused a bit. He turned around and saw how busy his son was back in the kitchen. "What benefits do I have if I accept the work?"
"First, I will let you become a Pokemon trainer. Second, I will let you have Happiny as your pokemon Starter. Third, you will learn all the secrets behind the pokemon Jutsu and I will personally train you as well. And lastly, your family will also have their own pokemon in the future. They can also become a Pokemon Trainer if they want to."
Okami continued explaining what pokemon was and how they were used in battles, which made Baki more interested. As soon as he told him that he could catch more pokemon, Baki was in deep thinking.
"I still have to talk to my son. Please wait for a bit." Baki went inside the kitchen and had a little conversation with his son.
Okami looked at the clock and he saw that it was 5:15 PM. He remembered that he had an appointment with Naruto at Ichiraku Ramen by 6 PM. He spent his time playing with Happiny as he waited for Baki.
After fifteen minutes, Baki was done talking with his son and went outside the kitchen. He approached Okami with a smile on his face and said, "I accept it."
Okami grinned as he extended his hand for a handshake. "I'm very glad that you accept the invitation to work with me, Baki-san."
"Hah! Toki convinced me to accept the job. I don't know what prompted him to do so but he was glad that I can become a Pokemon Trainer. He said that Tomiro was the one who told him about the wonders of pokemon."
Okami thanked Tomiro inside his mind. He had already an idea as to the two people to turn into a Pokemon Trainer next week - Baki Ryota and Choza Akimichi. As for Tomiro, his slot would be for the next coming week.
Okami was about to bid him farewell when the Pokemon App appeared on his hand.
