Chapter 1: Captured
Gazing through the window as she Savored the cool August breeze, Lala took another look at the man on the bed, he seemed to be in a deep sleep as his heavy breathes filled the poorly lit room. she wiped the the back of her palms as her thoughts drifted back to her hometown in Africa.
She used to be a cheerful 17 year old lass living with her grandma until their little hometown was raided and their houses burnt to ashes. She narrowly escaped death by jumping into one of the boats on the sea that lays east of their town. She took refuge in the boat for some days barely eating anything with few other escapees from other few town near theirs until they were finally offloaded in a strange land.
It was a dark night but the villagers seemed to be out fully, they were seen in groups as they chatter and laughed heartily. Suddenly, one of the villagers called the attention of others around to the strange girl beside the sea, they all came around her and one after another, they took turns in questioning her. She took note of her surrounding and realised the people there were of different race, she couldn't understand the language they spoke and they seem to want to communicate with her. It was a countryside and she noticed the amused expression in some of their faces, they wanted to get a feel of her skin as that was probably their first time seeing someone that has a different skin color. Bronze skin, blue eye, perfectly curved body and clean long legs, she was a beauty to behold.
As the town people gathered around her, it wasn't long before she attracted the attention of the town police and some other tourists around, the two policemen came through and was asking her questions in their dialect, she couldn't understand what they were saying and she inwardly pray for someone to come to her rescue as she was getting dragged to the small police station.
Suddenly, the policemen stopped in their tracks just few steps away from the crowd and and bowed to an old woman that stretched her hands towards a house, she spoke in same dialect as the villagers to the policemen and after those two parties exchanged a few words, the policemen released her to the old woman.
The woman brought her to a small house, it was the closest to the sea and one could feel the cool sea breeze blowing through the unlocked windows. The old woman introduced herself in fluent English and Lala was very surprised. Surprised that there could be a single soul in this town that understands the English language and Surprised that the one soul is even this old woman. She introduced herself to the woman as Lala after getting to know the woman name was Madam Han, she runs a local restaurant in that small town and she basically sells sea food. She was told she'll be staying there for some time till she finds a place elsewhere to stay.
That was all she prayed for, a place as abode. She was so tired that she fell asleep immediately after freshening up, she couldn't even eat the dinner that was served to her. The old woman came to her room after changing to something to sleep in and noticed she was still wearing the same torn clothe that was on her despite leaving pile of clothes for her on the table at the corner of the room, she sighed and picked up the tray of food and left the room.
