Since the talk about the filler has emerged in the discord chatroom, Elyon wondered why do authors use filler chapters? Do they perhaps do it subconsciously, or is there any other reason? To better understand the answer to this question, he decided to ask some of the authors in the discord chatroom about their take about filler chapters.

Cursed Daoist: I think that filler is an integral part of plot. Without fillers the world cannot be supported.
Rianolinon: I used fillers.
Totally Nano: For word count. Word count = monies. 2ez4me
Anjeeriku: A filler is when you produced scenarios that can be skipped, but you won't because you need to meet a certain word count.
CrossArk: Fillers are used when the author wants to piss the readers off, or when the author is in a writer's block.
Kuro Ookami: Filler chapters only work in an episodic light novel format. In a full length, traditional novel it would not be good.
A Certain Hanged Man: A filler is anything that isn't vital to the plot, like the Bleach episode in every goddamn anime, and also doesn't contribute to character development in any way.
Double D: Fillers can give people glimpses into character's feelings or personalities, but you can usually tell it's a filler when the story is accomplished exactly the same without its existence. Most of the time, the non fillers don't even mention the "filler" in any shape or form.
A Certain Baby Dragon: I think filler is fluff scene in romance novel? like it's not really that relevant to the plot but it can ease reader mind after tense scene
A Certain Tower: I like them as long as they are entertaining. And I think it's a filler when it provides no useful information for the story
A Certain Magician: As long as it's still the part of the story then it's fine. If it has no relate with the main story then it's no use.
