Chapter 4: Whose child are you, if not mine?

I started walking towards the wall, planning to leave Kinds and test the amulet out in the forest. I originally planned to just test it in the shop, but after examining the mortal who called herself Elena's memories, I learned that most mortals in the surrounding area would die and a group called the "Enforcement" would come looking for me and "lock me up". The thought made me chuckle.

'As if you could ever make me do anything.'

The only reason that I didn't do it was that I had wanted to observe the mortals as they normally act, it was less fun making them do something.

However, before I left town I passed by a grand building (,at least compared to the other mortal buildings around,) and decided to take a look. The structure was completely made of gold and stood even taller than the walls! It was decorated with golden statues of dragons and seemed to radiate heat. But the heat wasn't hot, it was pleasant.

In the memories of the two, they knew this place as "The Church of Aidian". Supposedly, he was a "god" that was once a orcan commoner. One day he was in the forest chopping wood to sell, when he heard screams. He went to check it out and saw a male dragon, with beautiful golden scales and no bigger than a teenager, and a female tree spirit mating. Around them were the panting, collapsed bodies of various female creatures including deer, rabbits, dragons and other magical creatures. He was so shocked he dropped all the wood and axe. Sadly, he axe fell the wrong way and chopped off all his toes on his left foot. Hearing him yell in pain, the dragon panicked finding out he was caught and lunged at Aidian deciding he would rather kill him than let this get out. Just when Aidian was about to get hit, he tried to dodge, but instead he slipped in his own blood and was knocked unconscious. Meanwhile, the dragon couldn't stop himself and head butted a tree. Holding his aching head, he cried out for it's father. The ground rumbled and great physical pressure was felt from above, blowing most of the forest apart, but none of the animals died. This alone showed the strength and control of the creature above. With a thump, a dragon exactly the same as the previous one fell from the sky.

But don't be mistaken! This was the king of dragons himself, coming to pick up his son!

With one glance at the scene, his experience told him what had happened.

"AGAIN? WHAT DID YOU NOT LEARN THE FIRST 1,000 TIMES! I COULD JUST SEND DRAGONS TO YOUR BEDCHAMBERS!" He boomed with a deep voice the caused all the animals around (even the ones who just had expressions of ecstasy) run away with fear.

"But dad... takes not as much fun." The son whined.

"WHEN WE GET BACK TO THE SEVENTH REALM, YOUR MOTHER WILL TALK TO YOU."

"Alright dad" the son said sulkingly.

"Did any of them become pregnant?" The father had asked calming down.

"No dad, I used the spells on them beforehand."

"Good. Also, who is this human bleeding profusidly on the ground?"

"No idea father, he was the reason I'm injured though."

"Oh, than leave him, he will die on his own."

The space in front of the dragons was torn apart revealing a hole of darkness which they stepped through and disappeared.

4 hours later

Aidian woke up in a cave, his foot had stopped bleeding but half of his toes were still gone.

He looked around the cave and found a rabbit. The rabbit had been enlightened and her intelligence was no less than the average human adult. However, since it's vocal chords were different, it couldn't speak the language he did and instead used it's paws to write on the ground. It explained that she was one of those collapsed rabbits from earlier and that it had dragged him here and had healed him with it's magic.

Aidian decided to stay with the rabbit all his life and help her in exchange for the healing. On day they realized that the rabbit was pregnant, it seemed the dragon was bad at casting spells, missed one, or lied to his father about doing it.

During the birth, some of the blood splattered on a wood Aidian had gotten while chopping wood, giving him powerful dragon blood that dominated all his normal blood and slowly turning him into a dragon. After the birth, the mother had died and it was up to Aidian to raise the child. After 3 years the baby dragon suddenly disappeared one day and never came back. During that time Aidian had become 50% fire dragon. He was only a fire dragon and more elements like the son of the dragon king because he had only gotten diluted blood that was originally weak due to the mother not being a pure blood dragon. Aidian traveled across the realms and became one of the dragon king's subordinates in the 7th realm.

I frowned. This story was riddled with holes. For one, how could a dragon and a rabbit naturally have a child?

However, the church told a different story. One day Aidian was in the woods and he rescued and rabbit from drowning. The Dragon King saw this kindness exhibited and blessed Aidian saying that it felt that he deserved a reward.

I frowned again. This was too stupid. How would a Dragon King be able to see Aidian doing such a deed, and why would he randomly give out such blessings like a idiot? This would have other 7th realm beings angry about him stealing's members of other races.

Due to my curiosity about this "god", I took a look inside the church. The inside was just as flashy as the outside. There where rows of chairs made of gold on both sides of the aisle. Here and there, mortals were sitting with hands in front palm facing up and looking at the statue in the front. It depicted a orcan with a rabbit at it's feet with a fire dragon behind the orcans back looking down at all the people as if it was a existence they could never touch. Of course, it was made of gold too. Not to mention, there was a heap of coins placed at it's feet even more than what I had used to pay for the amulet. Before leaving, mortals would place coin(s) below it's feet.

Seeing me come in, a priest came over dressed in a attire made of golden silk that slightly dragged on the floor and asked me, "Are you here to join the church of Aidian?"

"No-"

Before I could even get another word out he screamed "Than leave!" and shoved me towards the door with a look of rage on his face.

I sighed 'it's not like I didn't ask for consent.' I read his brain.

On my way into the forest, I sorted through the priests memories and learned that these people prayed to Aidian and in turn, some were blessed by him. This system made no sense to me so I decided to go meet Aidian one day to find out how it worked and also which story was the true version.

After "teleporting" back to the crater where I landed, I started repeating the incantation to activate the amulet. "Qejezse smejj"

Elements that made up air started to gather around m to form an barely visible arrow. My hair and clothes were whipped by the air, causing them to flutter like leaves in a hurricane. The arrow was released unleashing it's ferocious might. *ROAR* it shot forward letting out a deafening sound ripping through everything and straining the space around it. The penetrating power was truly immense, for a hole, about as wide as a water bottle appeared in everything in the arrows path. No more. Most people on this realm wouldn't even bu able to see how far it goes, but I could, through trees, animals, beasts, even a mountain. Birds flew away, creating a multicolored frantic flying crowd. Animals fled causing a stampede, and mortals hide in their huts.

My eyes widened with shock, how had the humans gotten so good at harnessing the elements?!!

The amulet broke down after use from excessive power buildup causing it to disintegrate, but after a couple of trials, I managed to put it together again. I examined it over and found none of my divine power on it. I realized I needed more samples of magic items to find out how it was done.

Then a thought struck me, humans were able to use these spells too according to the memories of the others. Those people were called mages.

I went back to town and asked the guards posted where I could find the most mages in one place.

"Over there in the Mages Guild." He said pointing north at a building that was even taller than the church.

"Thanks you" I said before showing my ID and entering.

The mages guild only had 20 or so mages around, contrary to my expectations.

'Hm' I thought with a prideful look 'How could most mortals fantom my power.'

I analyzed all their bodies and realized that they all had something in common that the bodyguard from before didn't have. They had a small cluster of elements that were the same as the kind my main body was made out of. The only difference was that the amount each had was so small compared to even my current body that if it was compared with percentage there would be an astronomical amount of zeros after the zero point...

I thought about it and I didn't remember ever creating mortals like this and I know my siblings hadn't because I would feel them manipulating elements to create bodies, not to mention we are all made up of different kinds of things. Our parents warned opus to never give others some of our privacy divine powers no matter what.

So that leads to the question, who made you mages?

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
EverReach EverReach

The world they live in is divided into realms. Imagine a cylinder, there are sections with each section closer to the top. The higher up one goes, the better the resources and higher level creatures there (to lvl up) and the greater the pressure. To move on to each realm and live normally, one needs to be 150 lvls higher than the minimum requirement for the current realm to move up. So the first realm that the mc is on is lvl 1-150, second realm is 150-300 and so on.
