Chapter 1: When Curiosity killed the cat

The Desolate Forest, home too many wild beasts and completely devoid of any governing laws. It was a world on its own. This was also the hunting grounds for many clans and villages in the surrounding vicinity. It was said that a third of the planet was covered completely with endless green colors if one had to look at it from Space and its size is equivalent to that of 5 times of the earth. But at this moment what use to be endless greens showed signs of gradual decay in the distance. Lush green forests and thriving life were slowly decaying, turning into a habitat filled with death and rot.

The other two-thirds contained endless oceans and one big continent that was connected to the Desolate Forest, it was said that during ancient times the Desolate Forest completely covered this continent as well but as people become stronger they expanded their civilization and used the thought to be endless resources without restraint.

Walking barefooted, a looking pale boy, which seemed to be around 6-7 years of age. Walked without caring for his injuries or hunger. He lips were cracked, his skin blistered and his exhausted arms moving the vegetation to the side as he continuously walked without any sense of direction. The sound of birds chirping, and the sounds cicadas could not even reach his ears. He seemed to be in a Trans like state, moving without a care in the world.

The boy's name was Jihan, the two things that he could only remember was his name when he woke up in this strange place a couple of days ago. Initially, everything would frighten the shit out of him when he woke up but after experiencing a cold days and nights, he accepted his fate. He was alone, no one to help him.

He never how to communicate with any sort language, he didn't even know what a language was. The only thing he remembered was the basic things he needed to survive. Like he needed to eat, drink and sleep. The one sound he constantly remembered and could say was "SURVIVE" and "JIHAN".

The first couple of days he became so weak and cold he thought he was going to die and what was weird, he never ever came across any beast or animal that wanted to attack him.

Every plant and shrub he ate seemed to be miraculously eaten by without worrying if it were poisonous or not, he never take note of this, the only thing on his mind was to keep walking, his feet had turned bloody of the blisters already but it seemed as if he didn't know pain but he kept walking, stumbling along as he strived forward until the the sound of water flowing came from distance.

His face always seemed devoid of emotion, pain, sadness, loneliness and not even happiness. He never smiled. The only thought he had was just to keep walking, not even stopping at the pond of water, as he continued walking he stumbled and face planted into the water. The ice cold pond water gave him a sharp chill that shot through his body as every hair shot up and nerves shook with shock and ecstasy.

He took huge gulps of water as he released without knowing how he was actually swimming and floating on top of the water, he never even knew how to swim in the first place but he was like a fish that finally found water.

He swam back to shore but did not climb out of the water as he emotionlessly stared at his feet and realized how badly they were bruised. Due to it getting blisters, every single wound on his foot actually didn't seem to fester at all and just had the dirt washed away by the water. He took time to replenish his dehydrated body and washed his clothes and bruised arms, feet and legs.

An hour was spent drying his clothes after realizing how cold it was again. Without him knowing it himself, he started preparing to make a fire. Gathering dry tinder and making a small patch so he could make a camp close by, he had seen there was quite a few aquatic life in the large pond so he caught grabs and water snails.

That night, for the first time, that he could remember he slept by a warm fire and a belly filled with cooked crab meat and snails for supper. He used the dry ash of the firewood that was white in color to rub onto his feet completely covering them as he realized it actually helped with the covering of the blisters and drying out the wounds.

What Jihan didn't know was that using Wood ash was actually very good for wounds of nothing else was around to use for wounds but he did the unconsciously. He also used that for his teeth in the mornings, he prepared a mini-camp for himself as sort to his daily needs robotically. It seemed as if his eyes were devoid of life as he continued his days just surviving.

Since that day, 3 years went by in a flash. Jihan was taller, his hair longer, reaching by his waste. He had built himself a miniature tree house since he realized how badly it rained and it was better to stay in the above the forest floor than on the ground since everything was always wet.

He had found a hollow tree that was at least enough for 6 of him to stand side by side. He had built stilts so that was at least 2 meters high into the tree, Jihan never realized that everything he had done was unconsciously remembered and he never even once doubted anything he could do without him knowing it.

He used the tree hollow section to smoke and dry whatever food he had and preserve it if he didn't catch anything to eat for the following days but he would always resort to grabs and snails if he completely ran out of food.

One day a thought hit Jihan that he needed to move out and head further west, he never doubted these thoughts of his or question them. Since these thoughts kept him alive for 3 years so he just robotically followed them.

He took his makeshift bag, filled it with his dry provisions and everything else needed for the journey. Jihan had found quite a few things in the forest that could guard against the moister and he built his bag with that. He also had built his clothes with layers of reptiles and snakeskin to prevent himself from getting wet easily.

When he caught a snake a was stung he was paralyzed for more than 5 hours before he could move again, after that incident he made crazy ideas as he would capture snakes until he mastered the art. He then would take the venom and dilute it and consume it over a period of time. Eventually, he could even let the snakes bite him every once in a while until he became completely immune. But he did realize, most poison could not harm him. Not even plants that could kill certain animals did nothing to him before he even started with the snake experiment.

After 3 years of walking westwards... He managed to eventually see people that looked like him but what surprised him was they had different hair and eye color, their hair color shimmered goldenly and eyes colored that of a snake.

He followed the group of people silently for 2 days until they walked out of the forest and onto grassy plains. Jihan was shocked at first at the change of scenery since he used to the forest. He waited a whole day until he followed again and when he continued tracking he noticed a village in the distance.

This was the first time he had seen so many people in his life, for the first time he felt like heart beat so fast he thought there was something wrong with him. He spent an hour calming himself down as he ate and drank his last bits of rations.

Afterward, he looked for a source of water and made a new area to camp far from the village so that he would not be disturbed. Jihan was shocked that these overly large people were communicating by making noises with their mouths. It seemed similar to how he did when he spoke his name.

He spent a week investigating the village, and noticed they had very strong people, the guys had huge bodies thrice his size, just looking at them made him shudder in fear. Their muscles protruded like chiseled steel, tanned from being in the sun.

He spent two weeks sneaking about, with his body covered in layers of bush for camouflage. He studied their village patterns which people went for food hunting, which people went for plants, water and so on.

He also noticed that the males were much larger than the females, all the females looked very pretty compared to the robust males. Jian didn't know why but each time he saw the females faces he actually saw them pleasing to the eyes, they had fair silky skin, rosy cheeks from being too much in the sun for a day and actually they all had similar yellow to golden brown eyes with honey-colored hair. Unlike his black hair, the males looked similar but with darker skins.

After 3 months spending around and studying, he eventually started to understand words they commonly used for the food, clothes, etc. he was almost found our by the hunting team a couple of times but this made him even more cautious as he would make sure t clean up his tracks whenever he investigated. But this was all from a distance.

One day as Jian was watching the children interestingly as they were playing, three of them decided to sneak away from the village, it was a male fat boy and two females. The one was extremely pretty compared to the average females and the other was fairly average. The fatty pointed to the forest and led the two girls, saying something in hushed tones as they sneaked out.

They would make sure to look over their shoulders each time so that they were not being followed. Since Jian has already lived and adapted to not be spotted for almost more than 6 years, it was natural for him to move like a cat.

He noticed the way they were moving was extremely noisy and Jian contemplated whether would it be a good idea to even follow since they were making all sorts of noises and these noises could attract predators but for him, he had never seen one before only the aftermath of each kills.

Jian decided it would be interesting to see what was happening, so he tiptoed and followed along as they were strolling for at least 10 minutes before they came to a stop. Jian heard the two girls gasp in surprise as he looked ahead, even he was shocked at what he saw. It looked like a corpse of a man, u could see his white bones as if he was lying there for years and years.

He still had clothes that looked very foreign, the fatty gestured to the other two to keep quiet by holding his finger to his mouth as he sneaked ahead he gestured for them to come closer and as they were searching the body, the average looking female shook her head and stepped aside indicating she didn't want to search but the pretty one seemed thrilled and helped the fatty search. They searched the pockets, shoes, and sleeves but found nothing, until the fatty exclaimed as he pulled over what seemed to be a necklace and it had a very odd looking ring hanging on it.

But as soon as the necklace was removed, a tremor ran through the air like a rippling effect of water, it sent out subtle waves, disorientating everyone including Jian. And suddenly what made everyone shocked was a thick red fog started gushing out of the ring like a fountain spraying in all directions. But it didn't stain anything, it filled the air and what made Jian's pupils constrict was when he smelt the air... He was very familiar with this smell, it was a very thick metallic smell of blood. It was so thick you could taste it in the air... The fatty screamed and threw it to the ground, he turned around after running 10 meters away from it.

He stared wide-eyed as he backed off and the pretty girl stood behind him, the average looking girl was dazed. She was frozen, the mist started coming together at a blinding fast pace condensing in the form of an animal on all fours.

What made Jian almost shout out was what he saw, he was even shaking in his skin right then, it was a fierce beast he once came across but was too scared to even breathe when it ran past him. The beast resembled a massive two-headed wolf. The wolf reformed and growled, one of each head staring at the fatty and at the frozen girl.

The fatty screamed as he realized the wolf was staring at him. He didn't give a damn as he immediately dashed into the forest running as he had just seen a ghost, the pretty girl didn't care as well as she ran the same way of the fat boy. Jian started turning when he noticed that the average looking girl still never woke up from her frozen like stance, he was shocked and realized that if she didn't move, she would be killed and eaten.

The wolf growled out loud as he stared at the ring then at the girl and started growling in a threatening stance at the girl. Jian realized this girl was definitely dumb he could even see the girl wetting herself right then.

She was firmly rooted on the spot as she stared the wolf in the eyes, he contemplated for a sec before deciding to run towards the ring, hearing another noise startled the Girl shitless as she then screamed it seemed to have snapped her out of the trance as she realized it wasn't a monster but a very primitive looking boy, wearing animal skin rags and leaves.

The boy ran to the ring and got hold of the necklace as he shouted incomprehensible words and made shouting sounds waving around like a madman. She finally realized what he was telling her after three seconds as the boy shouted at the top of his lungs He held the necklace up to the wolf. As soon as the wolf saw the necklace... It immediately became even more enraged as it seemed to be mad at the girl, even more, Jian was shocked as the wolf actually dashed over to her instead of him.

The girl was so shocked that she could finally muster up the strengthen to move as she turned and ran but it was futile the as the wolf crossed 5 meters like nothing behind her in an instant, it raised its paws ready to slash but before it could reach the girl a shadow popped out of nowhere and jumped in front of the girl, keeping his arms out like doing a star jump. Instantly, the girl heard a scream and a body was sent flying tumbling and hitting a nearby tree, blood gushed like a fountain as his chest was torn open like a melon heavily slashed by an axe.

The ring was firmly held in his hand and it grew blistering hot within seconds, sizzling sounds came from his grasp but it looked like he didn't feel anything. he was completely knocked out. The air even contained a trace of burnt flesh as it burnt the hand of the boy, but the wolf strolled up to the boy growling reading to itself to tear the pitiful fellow throat out and end this pitiful creature's life. But what made it shocked was the same thing that the boy did the girl was doing, she dashed to the boy's side. Tears in the eyes, snot, and spit flying as she cried and held

"Please don't kill him! Please, we're sorry. We didn't mean to touch the body!!!" she cried pitifully,

She thought that the wolf was protecting its meal it had a couple of days ago. The wolf was shocked, and lowered its gaze at the girl, staring at her than the boy then at the girl again and the boy. It seemed to contemplate something looking deeply at the crying girl and the almost dead boy at the side, he noticed that these two didn't even know each other at all.

The boy seemed to be sneaking around following these three when he thought this boy would run away after he appeared. But he was actually shocked when the boy jumped in front of the girl. The wolf just made a low growl and the girl flinched and closed her eyes ready for the death blow.

The two-headed wolf ignored the girl and walked over to the boy that looked as if he was dying boy, it inhaled air and it seemed to gently blow a breeze of wind that caressed the boy's face and the huge wound on his chest but nothing else happened.

He grabbed the ring into its mouth and one could see burnt mark clearly visible on his palm. The wolf seemed to bow at the burnt mark subtly before putting the ring into its mouth and dashing deep into the forest. Leaving the smell of blood dissipating slowly in the air.
