Chapter 3: Cocoyasi Village.

Like this, 2 years passed by quickly.

In these 2 years, I trained my physical body to the upmost limit and went bounty-hunting from time to time. My stats had increased slowly but steadily over time. Now I was completely capable of using Kenbunshoku and Armament Haki, even though the latter drained me too much. In addition, I was capable of hearing conversation of the entire island if I wanted.

'Damn if I wasn't the most overpowered 12-year old of all time!'

Sanji's Cooking

===

Now if you noticed, don't ask me why I have Sanji's cooking skills. I just added it on a whim while experimenting with that section one day. I mean I can always delete them and add another one after 3 months.

I remember that one time, when I totally did not do anything unscrupulous with Jango's hypnotist skill. It was just too tempting… I had to delete it.

**

A new day and morning sun arose in the town of Ragako. Currently, I was walking around the bustling town, shopping for supplies to set sail once again. Although Louise often tried to make me stay in Ragako, she couldn't really do much to stop me from leaving.

In front of me was an old man, a famous shipwright in the town of Ragako. He was looking at me with a slight frown, and he said, "Listen, young man. You may think I'm a fool, but I'm not going to return you this boat for anything less than 100,000 Berrys."

"What rubbish?! How could the repair cost be half the price of the boat? I don't like intimidating people often, but my name's Magnus Leo!"

"Smirk… Impossible! How could a brat like you claim to be Leo, the famous pirate hunter? If you're Leo, I'm ready to give you all the boats here for free… Just pay up already!"

The man raised his voice, attracting a crowd of people to his store. They also started to look at my figure with some scepticism.

"Hmmm… Then don't you regret losing your business old man!"

I threw the cash at him and headed out to the shore to set sail.

Caww… At that moment, a News Coo bird dropped its newspaper to a nearby passenger. He sweated and brought the newspaper to the old man.

As soon as the old man read the newspaper, he chased after Leo with a pale face and a body trembling in fear.

**

A few hours into my journey, a silhouette of an archipelago island appeared in the distance. It was the Conomi Island, which was where Nami lived and the setting for Arlong Park.

Presently, I was rowing towards the Cocoyasi village while reading the East-Blue section of the World Economy News Paper.

In the front page was a picture of a fit looking young-man. He had a slim muscular body and a handsome masculine face with natural blue eyes and short, blue hair. The headline for the picture was: [Magnus Leo took out the leader of Black Cat Pirates, Kuro; he's called the biggest rising star of East-Blue.]

"Hum… Aren't I too handsome?" I murmured.

Though I wanted to marvel more at the face gifted by Being X, I forced myself to turn my attention to a small article in the corner of the paper.

[All citizens of East-Blue: BE WARNED! A Grand Line pirate group split from their parent group and is known to be heading to East Blue.]

'Snort… I'll be sure to give them a congratulatory gift for getting freed from Impel Down!'

**

In due time, I arrived at the shore of Cocoyasi village and anchored my boat. I walked towards the village after taking all my supplies and weapons from the boat. I had developed some basic skills in using melee-weapons, especially a trident.

The weapon I carried with me was a silver-coated long trident that was longer than my body. Although I liked using the trident from time to time, I still wanted to upgrade it to one with pure gold or silver. Alas, I wasn't rich enough to buy kg's of gold or silver in bulk yet.

Chatter… Chatter… With the help of my Rumble-Rumble fruit along with Haki, I picked up the conversations of the entire village. Fortunately, the people in the village looked lively, indicating that Arlong was yet to come.

After quickly dropping off my supplies in a room at the Cocoyasi Inn, I went into the village bookstore to buy some navigation and geography material on the Grand Line. I had some free time here, and it won't hurt to brush up my skills for the future.

Back on the way to the village inn, Tunn… My Haki warned me of someone with malicious intentions towards me.

Whoosh… I grabbed the hand of an assailant who moved their hand towards my bag. On a closer look, it was a young girl with orange hair, looking at me with teary eyes. 'Wow… I wouldn't have caught that without my Haki… as expected of the future cat-burglar, Nami.'

"Hum… I see you were trying to rob me. Do you have anything to say for yourself?"

"I-I'm solly…"

"That's not going to cut it for me…"

With an innocent face, Nami pointed at the navigation books in my bag and said, "I c-can pay you for that book… with my body ♥"

Cough… Cough… Swallow… I was perplexed for a second, but I soon realized that Nami didn't even understand what she was talking about… probably copying her mother teasing Genzo or something.

"How cute…"

I proceeded to pinch Nami's cheek, stretching her soft cheeks wide.

"Owowow… S-Stahp"

"Hahaha… A skinny girl like you wants to give me her body. Stop starving yourself and then come back!"

After her cheeks were freed from my grip, Nami winced and massaged her cheeks in pain.

"Behhh." She stuck her tongue out and then yelled, "I'm not starving! I eat a lot of oranges every day. Bellemere said that oranges are the best and enough for us!"

I smiled wryly, feeling a little bad for her family suffering in poverty.

"Hahaha… You're overestimating those oranges a little too much. Where can I get those?"

"Come with me… Hmph… But you better give me those books for free in exchange if you like those oranges!"

"Yeah, sure, sure…"

I wanted to try those oranges too, even if I was getting scammed heavily for them. Soon Nami and I headed to her home at the Orange groves, arguing along the way.

Outside the home, a relatively slim woman with grey eyes, long fuchsia hair tied in unique hairstyle walked out of the door. This woman was Bellemere, a former marine and the adoptive mother of Nami and Nojiko.

"Jeez, what's all the ruckus about?"

"Bellemere, He's new and doesn't believe that our oranges are the best!"

I forcefully chuckled at Nami's accusation and bowed my head. I said, "Hello, Bellemere-san, my name's Leo. I'm staying here at the Cocoyasi village temporarily…And, yeah, I've come here to try those oranges."

Bellemere smiled gently and patted my head, "Hehe… What a polite kid. Come in, I'll prepare some tea and oranges for you!"

We went in and gathered around the dining table, a young Nojiko joined us too. While making introductions, Nami mistakenly slipped information on how she was initially stealing from me.

"You're such a klutz Nami; I would have never got caught while stealing."

Bellemere heard Nojiko and yelled, "Stealing is wrong kids!!!!"

"Owwww" Both Nami and Nojiko started throwing a tantrum, feeling wronged that they were scolded.

I might have watched this manga scene occur with nostalgia, but I was more focused in getting a bite of the infamous orange.

"Yum! This is amazing; I love it!"

I smiled broadly, enjoying the sweet and sour flavors of biting into this fruit. It had been too long since I'd eaten an orange.

"Hahaha… I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. Feel free to have more if you want!" Bellemere smiled and elevated her chin with pride in her oranges.

"You like them a lot, right? Now you must give me all the navigation books!"

"Apologize, Nami! You steal from him first… and then this shameless demand!"

"How unfair… He promised though!!!"

Nami was about to throw another tantrum, but I immediately handed her the bag of the navigation books I was carrying. "Hahahaha… A promise is a promise."

Yayy…! Nami started jumping around with the bag of books, carefully taking them out and inspecting each one of them.

When Bellemere and Nojiko took glances at the contents of the bag, their eyes widened when they realized how expensive my gifts were.

"No, we absolutely can't take these! They are too expensive for som-"

"Don't mind the small gift. Her dreams are genuine enough for me to warrant this gesture."

I started pinching Nami's cheeks once again, but she didn't resist much due to how happy she was. "Ow ow ow… huff… huff…"

Nami got up from her chair and announced with a flushed face full of excitement.

"I'm now closer to achieving my dream of making a map to this world!"

After some time, due to my insistence and Nami's enthusiasm, Bellemere gave up and accepted my gifts. Upon hearing that I was staying at the Cocoyasi inn, she forced me to stay in their empty room as a thank you. I accepted her offer and temporarily stayed in with the family.

**

2 weeks later…

Nami and I were sitting together, going over navigation books.

"Hey Nami, I don't understand this application of atmospheric pressure in weather forecast. Could you help me a bit?"

"Hahaha, you better pay me or make food for me later for all this free help you're getting. So, this is how it goes…"

Although I was grimacing a little in embarrassment from being beaten by a kid in studying, I listened carefully and comforted myself in the knowledge of who my competition was.

"Hey Leo, are you going to be leaving soon?"

"Yeah, I guess…"

Nami leaned close to my face with moist eyes, and she said, "Don't leave! You're strong and I can learn how to navigate later. We can team up and go to the Grand Line!"

Nami pouted when I continued reading my books in silence. She leaned in even closer, blocking my view of the book I was reading.

"Leo, you meanie! Don't you believe me when I say I can become a great navigator?!"

I nodded and… Pat, Pat… gently patted her head "Hahaha… I know that you'll become the best navigator in the world."

Nami blushed scarlet, and then ran away. "S-Stupid…! Of course, I'll be the best."

**

2 weeks later…

Bellemere was in the house, lamenting a little bit about her fight with Nami today. They had gotten into a little scuffle over wearing old clothes, which led to Nami "running away from home."

'Huh… Stupid me! Even though things were going so well ever since Leo came. I need to be a good mother and stop screwing up!'

Bellemere slapped her cheeks and started preparations for dinner today. Even though Leo was a great cook, he would just buy the supplies and only cook when he felt like it. Bellemere was determined to give Nami a taste of her special orange sauce that would be on par with Leo's cooking.

Knock… Knock… Creak…

Just as she grabbed a spatula to begin cooking, a man wearing a police uniform with a pinwheel attached to his hat walked into the house.

"Jeez… Genzo! You haven't been here in so long that you surprised me."

When Genzo got a closer look at Bellemere, his face turned a little red. Bellemere's complexion and weight were now much better after eating well for one month; her natural beauty shined brightly now.

"Kuhum… Kuhum… I see you're doing much better these days. I came here because the entire village is a little worried… our trouble-maker has not struck anyone in the past month. How's she?"

With a shake of the head, Bellemere went on to explain everything that happened in the past month. She also briefly informed about Nami running away from home to Leo's training grounds.

"Wait, did you say it was a 12-14 year-old looking child, named Leo Magnus?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Nothing, I'm going to go after Nami!"

Before Bellemere could ask for an explanation, Genzo chewed on his lip from worry and ran in the direction where Nami went.

**

At an abandoned land in the beach, Nami was waiting inside a shack built by Leo for holding his training supplies. Different from her expectations, Leo was nowhere in sight to be seen. With no choice left, Nami gritted her teeth and waited for Leo to show up.

Quickly after, almost arriving at the same time, Nojiko and Genzo showed up at the shack.

"Nami, I knew you'd be here. Just come back with me to home already!" Nojiko yelled.

"Yes, listen to your sister Nami. And where is that boy Leo…!"

Nami made a puffy face and avoided eye contact from the two. She said, "humph… What are the both of you doing here?! I've already ran from home, and I'm not returning back!"

Genzo smiled and walked up to Nami.

"Coming from your home all the way to shack is running away?! Hahahaha… Let me tell you a little about why your relationship is thicker than blood…"

Genzo went on to narrate the story of Bellemere's determination in saving them and being their mother. Nami's eyes moistened, and she was about to head back with Nojiko when…

Clang… Clang… The alarm bell for the entire village rang.

"PIRATES ARE HERE!"
