Chapter 11: The Will (V)
The helpers all started to scurry away, afraid to face her wrath. The helper with the notice in her hand was repeating to herself, please don't kill the messenger, over and over again like a protective mantra. After a long moment of silent, she looked up at Matriach Du only to find the old lady in deep thoughts. She did not wait a moment less to quickly excuse herself. As she was about to leave, she heard the old lady voice, "Sa Long, wait. Please get people to prepare a room for the young miss, we need to show that we are truly sincere in accepting her. Get some known designers to make the room wonderful. I don't want anything subpar. It needs to be ready in 3 days."
The helper was relief that she could finally leave and went off to carry out the order. Nowadays, the Matriach's temper is unpredictable, a few of her friends were fired over simple mistakes and some were even beaten. She still have many mouths to feed at home, and she doesn't want to get involve whenever the Matriach loses temper. She let out another long sigh, dealing with the people in this family is truly challenging physically and mentally. No need to mention about the mean old lady, even her son and daughter in law were equally horrible people. Somehow, the papers and magazines always praises them. Such is the life or the rich and influential.
Matriach Du, crumpled the piece of paper in her hands. It was a notice sent out by Gan & Lee and Associates Law firm, regarding the will reading of Du Wen Hao. She hated that she failed to eliminate Du Wen Hao when he was younger and now she and her son have to pay for it. She could somewhat guessed the content of the will. Looks like the little girl will be staying with them for quite some time. She needs to figure a way to get rid of her. She felt like history is repeating itself, previously, she failed to get rid of Du Wen Hao and now her own son failed to eliminate the whole family and left a survivor and it seems this girl has brains and is not as harmless as she portrays.
Du Wen Hai, was fuming and seething with anger that he actually developed chest pain and was diagnosed with stable angina. He needed to be observed for a few days and will need to undergo a Coronary angiogram. Chan Pei Sia was unhappy that her husband had stopped her from slapping the minx. When brought the subject up, she received a glare from him, causing her to feel unreconciled with her husband. The reason why she wanted to slap that minx was for her husband's sake but being reprimanded for standing up for him left a bitter taste in her mouth.
Du Wen Hai sigh at his wife's IQ and explained to her the reason he had stopped her from slapping Ru Ran. He himself had to exert a lot of self control as only God knew how much he wanted to strangle the girl dead. Her slaps were tiny but painful. Only then she stopped sulking and was more attentive to him. Du Wen Hai then chased his wife to go home so that he could reflect on the situation at hand and figure out his next step. He felt vexed and embarrassed that a five year old girl managed to cause him so much heartache. He still have not figure out if she did it deliberately or it was just her character. Either way, she is a pain in the a**.
He received the notice as well regarding the will reading and his heart is dreading it. How could his step brother be so well prepared to die. Even him, had not drafted a will, he would not curse himself to an early death. Everything is so frustrating and out of his control. He always felt this way, when he compared himself to Du Wen Hao. Why does Du Wen Hao gets to have everything and even in his death people still hail him as the genius while people only consider him second best?
He didn't think the board of director had all hesitated to make him the next president even after Du Wen Hao's death. As if they knew about the will. Argh.. He let his anger out on the notice paper.
