Chapter 46: Close confession
The servants were excited that Ru Ran had arrived, there were all the same people from 20 years back, some had retired while some had their children continue their duty. Some even gave her a big hug to welcome her back. They were happy to see she is all grown up. Ji Yu removed his disguises as he knew the people in this house are family and none has any intention. Plus he had already investigated all of them.
Ru Ran introduced him as their master. In fact, she did not have to do it because they already received the news earlier and had already made preparations for her return. All these years, despite Ru Ran being absent, she ensure that they are paid on time with new year, mid year and end of the year bonuses distributed from the earnings of Du Group. Those children of the servants who excel in their studies are given scholarships using her trust funds and in their contract is that once she returns they will then come to work for her and would be pay higher than their current salary and offered positions based in their abilities but they need to work for her whole heartedly. They can choose to decline but need to payback 35% of their scholarships if they are already working and successful. Those who are still unemployed, they will be given a chance to join her company after evaluation. Hence, the reason why her people are loyal and refuse to work elsewhere.
She even setup an independent retirement home for those servants that had served more than 20 years in the family. In addition to that, there is a nursing home for those unable to be independent and all of her employees are medically covered by insurance. This benefits are not publicised and is only known within the servants circle. She started this setup 10 years back when she did not know what to do with the earnings from her father's companies. She decided to give back as an appreciation of their loyalty.
That night the table was filled with food fit for Kings and Queens. She invited all of them including Ji Yu's men and Uncle Tek to sit together to feast. They declined hard but she refused to eat if they did not sit. Finally, they relented. She doesn't like it that they have to stand and serve her. These past years she is used to doing things herself and does not need people serving her of course, now there is an exception to this rule, her man, he can serve her all he wants. She was smiling happily looking at the familiar faces from her childhood and is reminded of the warmth and love at this dining table during meals during her childhood. Everyone was talking, no table etiquette had to be observe, food were passed around merrily and someone even burped in embarrassment, it was Ah Teng, the gardener.
Ji Yu was busy as well, deboning fish, deshelling prawn and crabs, and ensuring his wife tummy is full and happy. A happy wife equals to a happy man. Ru Ran also placed food for him, in his happiness he ate whatever is placed on his plate, forgetting he is allergic to crab and would go into anaphylactic shock, where his airway will be swollen and narrowed causing him difficulty to breath.
Ru Ran who was watching him eat happily was mesmerised by his looks. Suddenly, his expression changed and he had difficulty in breathing, in just a second, his face turned red then blue, his hand was trying to reach something in his pocket, Ru Ran panicked and quickly got up, Darren Lee, Ji Yu's right hand man, swiftly got up and took out a pen like object from his pocket and then jab into Ji Yu's thigh. Only after that did Ji Yu's face relaxed and his face returned to its normal colour and state. Ru Ran had a fright of her life, she wanted to cry yet her tears refused to fall, she could feel her heart stopped beating for a moment when she thought she would lose him. Never in her wildest dream that this man held such an important position in her heart in such a short duration.
The meal was disrupted and no one else had any appetite to eat. Everyone recovered from their shock when they heard Ji Yu spoke, "I am sorry for the scare, I forgot that I have serious allergy to crab, please do continue."
Noticing his wife in a trance, pale as white as a sheet, his heart tightened. He had caused her to feel pain and aggrieved. He signalled Darren, and Darren understood and whispered to Housekeeper Jie to send some food up to the study. Ji Yu took Ru Ran's hand and led her to the study, once inside, he hugged her tightly. She snapped out of her daze when she felt the familiar warmth and sound of his heartbeat. She gave him a tight hug before pushing him away roughly like a guy would to another guy.
"Are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?" she asked.
He smiled reassuring her that he is okay. His casual behaviour made her dormant volcano to erupt.
She was pissed, her face red with anger, "Mr Shen! I almost killed you, don't you think such an important information should be made known to your wife???! I REALLY THOUGHT THAT I WOULD LOSE YOU! NOW THAT YOU HAVE STOLEN MY HEART, HOW CAN I LIVE WITHOUT YOU?"
She started pounding his chest in anger, she was so worried! She just found happiness, something to look forward to and it almost disappear in a beat.
His heartache but he could not help but smile because he knew that he had managed to inflitrate her heart, body and soul as she had to him. He allowed her to release her anger and then he held her close to him once again.
"I was just too happy that you served me food that I forgot, I promised you I will hand you a file about me, everything about my life, my deepest secret, my strengths and weakness, it is all in it. I have compiled it and planned to give it tonight to you but who would have predicted that this would happened. Even if you serve me poison, this husband of yours will willingly do it," he said with an apologetic smile.
"Fool"
"I am a fool for you" he said.
"I am still angry because you had caused me unnecessary emotional distress. My heart stopped beating, I was afraid, so afraid. Don't you dare do anything of this sort again. Plus I haven't told you that I love you. Don't you leave me before I leave you,"she said fiercely.
He then grabbed her and showered her with kiss. It was fierce. Her close confession of love ignited the passion in him and he can't wait to have her. Housekeeper Jie knocked and entered the room only to see her masters kissing passionately without any signs of stopping, she retreated quietly and withdraw all the others and sent the food to the kitchen to be warmed and ready for consumption. She then informed everyone that their masters are not to be disturbed and everyone should continue eating.
