Chapter 2: The Handicap That Comes With Overconfidence

Noob Crusher was, quite surprisingly, a Paladin, the least common of the ten classes. Paladins, for the most part, rely on their healing to outlast the opponent, while using their hammer to deal damage to the opponent in big bursts. As for their specific stats, that's what Rohit was currently reading.

'Three skills, no wonder it's the least used class.' Rohit was currently laughing at his opponent, unaware of what the supposed foolish soul was currently doing. Because the two cooldown skills Paladins had were both blessings that could increase their attack or heal them, they had to rely on other sources for damage. Normal attacks required the opponent to be very close and, therefore, weren't always very viable options. On the other hand...

'Holy sh*t, that ultimate is broken. 200% attack, 300% movement speed, 50% damage reduction for a full godd*mn 60 seconds. Wait, is that guy currently farming jungle creeps to charge his ultimate. F*ck, I have to stop him.'

Rohit had guessed correctly. If the Paladin was able to successfully get its ultimate, it could easily win. All he would have to do is zone Rohit off the turret using his ultimate to threaten. Then, with the jungle creeps he was currently collecting, he could demolish the tower. In 1v1, killing a turret or the opponent were both win conditions. Noob Crusher had used this strategy to beat countless noobs who didn't recognize their doom until it was too late. Now, he was only one jungle camp away from doing the same thing to the famous LoL prodigy.

Unbeknownst to him, Rohit was currently sitting just outside the jungle camp in a bush. However, he couldn't just jump over the wall. If that happened, the Paladin would just attack him and get his ultimate anyways. Instead, he would have to steal the camp and then make a clean getaway. Because of the way Triumph of the Tricksters worked, ultimates only charged if you got the last hit on a jungle monster.

'D*mn, Paladin feels really broken in 1v1, especially if its opponent also spends the first 2 minutes also farming camps at a really inefficient rate because they were busy reading skill descriptions.' The only good thing about the situation was that because of Rogue's quick charging ultimate, he was also almost ready with his ultimate too.

Rohit has to quickly make a plan. He could use Conceal to get close to the creep, but then how would he kill it. Paladins had more damage on their normal attack than a Rogue. The gears in his brain finally clicked.

'I should first attack, but then when he goes to kill it, I can interrupt him. By using Dash, taking advantage of the knock up effect, I can use a second normal attack to finish off the monster and then Flash out.'

Flash was a utility spell that every character had to let them move 5 units in any direction. It was very similar to the LoL equivalent and could be used for initiation and escaping.

Rohit, seeing that the monster was almost dead, activated Conceal and made his move.

Seeing the monster lose some health without him attacking, Noob Crusher was quite surprised. Then he saw his opponent and started laughing maniacally. You found out too little, too late. He moved to finish the monster off, and effectively the game as well.

What, I've been interrupted! He stole the jungle creep too. This guy is going to get it. Does he even know that Flash leaves a trail in ToT making Flash follows really easy for the opponent?

'Sh*t, doesn't Flash leave a trail?' Well, I guess it's time to fight.

'My ultimate is charged, let's see what I can do.' Rohit was exhilarated to a level he had rarely experienced in his many years of Esports experience. This was only his first ToT game too and, as such, he couldn't wait to play even more matches.

Noob Crusher was just landing from the knockup and was very frustrated. However, before he could even finish one attack, Rohit had used his fast, pro-level hand speed to send out a normal attack, a Dagger Toss, and then Flash to avoid the attack. Noob Crusher obviously flashed as well, but he was not able to Flash accurately and fast enough to land his ongoing attack.

By this point, 4 seconds had passed and only 1 second remained till Dash would be off cooldown. Then, Rohit's backstab would be practically unstoppable. Rohit has prioritized damage with his early itemization and so Noob Crusher was already at 75% health. The Dash and Backstab combo would probably bring his opponent down to 35%. This battle was looking very winnable; all Rohit needed was 1 more second, 1 more dodge.

There are three ways of avoiding a normal attack. One, interrupting it with an attack. Two, escaping the attack range. Three, you could get out of enemy vision. It just so happened that their was a bush right next by so Rohit obviously chose option 3. But what was that... a ward.

'Godd*mn, now his attack will connect before my Dash comes off cooldown. I can't just use Backstab either because then I'm back to square one. He'll just dodge and my dash won't do much either. Well, I guess it's time to gamble.'

'Is he activating Backstab, what a noob. All I have to do is dodge and I have this game in the bag.' Noob Crusher was ecstatic. After canceling his attack, he sidestepped to the right, as was his habit, and got hit.

'Wait WHAT! How did I get hit? Did he predict my dodge? I have to attack again. What, a Dash. Screw this, why am I so unlucky? Attack, you dumb Paladin!'

It had worked. Although Rohit missed out on a large 30% bonus on his Backstab's damage because he attacked from the front, Noob Crusher was at only 40% health. Better yet, his Conceal was off its ten second cooldown and his Backstab was almost recharged. After normal attacking and slowing Noob Crusher down with Dagger Toss, Rohit turned as if he was going to flee. He then used Conceal before controlling Confident Sword to turn around again facing directly at the poor Paladin. He waited 2 seconds so his Dash would be off cooldown yet again. Then, he started his final combo.

Normal attack, Dash, then into Backstab. This Backstab hit Noob Crusher's rear and did just enough damage to end the match.

'EZ, all calculated. Lol, I only had 2% mana left as well.
