Chapter 4: Nightfall-Part Two
Sebastian and Asmodeus went down the hall and passed the corridor. Two palace guards were guarding but they bowed when they saw them. Sebastian was a noble too. He grew up with Lord Asmodeus and highly respected him even from a young age. Even though, sometimes it was hard serving the Lord. As they went down to the second corridor, several vampire hunters were chitchatting. They immediately bowed down as they saw them, "Our Lord." Asmodeus nodded and let Sebastian take the spotlight.
"I'm sorry to disturb you and your wonderful rest. But we need ten of you to come with us. Hundred or half-vampires are being released, we don't know their origins as to where they come from but that will be discussed with the Council. As of now, you guys are the most elite vampire hunters. If you want to come, please stand here. For those who wanted to leave, feel free. Few of other vampires from higher class will also join us." Several talked among themselves and those vampire hunters who wanted to serve and help stood beside Sebastian. Others were standing and not moving.
"I guess these are it." Sebastian gave Asmodeus a nod. Only seven of them came even though it was less than they expected, it didn't matter. Sebastian gave them several minutes to get their gears and guns.
"Let's go." Sebastian signaled them. As they followed Sebastian, Lord Asmodeus left the other hunters to themselves and didn't say anything.
"Sir, are the villagers in danger?" Sebastian looked back at a female vampire hunter. Her name was Christa, she was in her teens but she is already an elite. Her parents were vampire hunters too. But, due to injuries, her mother lost her eyesight when a vampire scratched her eyes. Her father lost an arm when trying to fight a half-vampire. Christa was determined not to be like her parents. She wanted to train to be better but she didn't realize the Eralys mansion were training vampire hunters for centuries before. Christa passed the test with ease but she does have a humble heart.
As they are outside in the field, Sebastian stopped them and said, "Those half-vampires are getting closer now. We need to be fast. Everyone, I want you to work in groups. There will be four groups. Group one: Christa, Damon, Ryan. Group two: Isabel, Ed, Rose(noble vampire). Group three: Uriah (noble), Kayla, Louis. Group four: Myself, Lord Asmodeus and Mark (noble). You will be working with noble vampires. Make sure to work as a team as I will separate the groups to their designated position." They all bowed and knelt down, "Yes, sir."
When they all got to their position, they waited until it was necessary to attack. Sebastian found Mark resting beside a rock. He was resting and then got up quickly as he saw him and Lord Asmodeus, "My Lord, it was my fault. I wasn't careful." Lord Asmodeus gave him a firm nod, "It's not your fault. You protected Oliver." A slow smile formed on Asmodeus' lips.
It was late at night when most people are sleeping. Hundred of half vampire surrounded the whole village. Christa's group began their killing on the east end before it reaches the villages while group two went down to the village and fighting off half-vampires in the west end. The noises had woken up several villagers and many of them were screaming. Uriah, a noble vampire, instructed them to go inside and lock their doors in the north end. The half- vampires were coming in groups, several people did not even listen as they tried to run away. Unfortunately, they got eaten.
"Sebastian, we should go down. There are too many of them." Sebastian nodded as they headed to the south end. Lord Asmodeus scanned the whole area without leaving his place. He was waiting for someone to appear.
The noises were getting louder and louder. Gabriella woke up to noise and woke Edmund up. When they checked out their window, they saw half-vampires. They saw blood being sucked out and people died after one another. They closed the window and locked the door. Celeste woke up without both parents by her side, she went downstairs and saw her parents. "Mommy? Daddy? What's wrong?" Celeste rubbed her sleepy eyes. Edmund watched the door as Gabriella took Celeste to her room.
"Celeste, remember the half-vampires you saw?" Celeste nodded. Gabriella hugged her and kissed her daughter, "Whatever happens to mommy and daddy, you need to live. We love you." Celeste was confused but she nodded anyways. She took Celeste and hidden her in the living room cupboard. "Celeste, if you hear or see anything or anyone, do not come out." Celeste clutched to her teddy bear and nodded. When Gabriella was going to leave, she felt a tug. Celeste was clutching onto her, "Mommy. Will I see you and daddy again?" Gabriella kissed her daughter's hand and squeezed it, "Celeste, daddy and I love you. Remember that." Then Gabriella looked at Edmund and they both knew.
Several minutes later after Edmund and Gabriella gave their final kiss, the door was kicked open. A tall blond hair man, with glowing red eyes looked at them with disgust. His eyes weren't human, he wasn't a half-vampire, he is of pureblood. Celeste saw the shadow piercing its fangs into her mother's neck. Celeste was horrified. She saw blood dripping down and saw them throwing her mother on the floor lifeless. Her father was lying there lifeless as well when it bit into him. Celeste closed her eyes while clutching to her teddy bear. She cried quietly, "Mommy, daddy. I'm scared." Then, she heard footsteps coming near her, she froze again. The cupboard was opened. She closed her eyes and was unable to move.
"Celeste?" A deep yet gentle voice called out to her. She looked and saw a beautiful handsome man, black long hair, with dark red eyes, and very tall. Celeste was too shocked about the whole thing and she suddenly clutched onto Lord Asmodeus. She had been crying that her eyes were red and puffy. Sebastian and Mark were in the room also.
"Poor girl. First her friend and now her parents." Sebastian took a look at the bite marks and confirmed to Lord Asmodeus. "My Lord, the lady had been bitten by a pureblood and so did the man." Lord Asmodeus carried Celeste in his arms and she saw the aftermath. Blood, red fresh blood, the image of the vampire who bit them was clear in her small brain. Both of her parents lying lifeless on the ground. It was a horrific scene for a small child like her.
"My Lord, we completed the task. All of the half-vampires had been killed." Everyone came back safe and sound but with few minor injuries. Lord Asmodeus carried Celeste as Sebastian told them to go outside. Mark stayed behind and covered both bodies with a blanket. Hundred of bodies were on the street. It was like a ghost town. Young Celeste quickly passed out and closed her eyes until all of them reached the mansion. Lord Asmodeus was silent all the way, he knew those bite marks.
"Lukas, when we meet again. I'll kill you ten fold." Lord Asmodeus clenched his fist as they walked back to the mansion taking the short cut instead of climbing the hill. He held onto Celeste's tiny body and clutch onto her tightly.
