Chapter 3: 7 years old

Ryan is currently in a Christmas party with his family, they are in his grandparents (Robert Anderson and Sarah Anderson) home.

Robert is a 46 years old man with blond hairs and blue eyes and Sarah is a 44 years old woman with the same brown hairs and blue eyes than Amanda, she looks just like an older version of her daughter.

The day of his birth, Ryan never thought he could be this caring about his new family but now, after being showered in their love for years he is sure he could do anything for them.

Ryan, Amanda and Sarah are eating when suddenly the doorbell's sound echoed in the house.

"Ryan, can you go open the door please ?" said Amanda while laughing with her eyes.

"Of course mom" replied Ryan, so he got up and came to open the door.

Seeing who was on the other side, Ryan couldn't help but mentally shake his head at the expected Robert in a Santa Claus costume.

Externally though, Ryan was like a regular 6 years old boy getting a free candy, his acting skills honed everyday for the past six days.

Opening his presents, Ryan was very happy, his grandparents got him a typewriter and his mom got him three books on how to direct a movie. Ryan thought his mother buying was useless considering his perfect memory but he couldn't bring himself to tell her and ruin Christmas.

Amanda and her parents couldn't help but chuckle to themselves seeing the usually serious Ryan scrutinizing his typewriter like any 6 years old would treasure their toys.

It relieved Amanda seeing this naive side of his for once.

After a couple of minutes playing around with his prize, Ryan got up and came to his mother with an envelope

"Merry Christmas !" Ryan said passing the envelope her.

Smiling, Amanda took it but frowned when seeing it's content. It's the last Bank check they received from Bantam Books, with a value of a bit more than 30 000$.

"What is the meaning of this ?" Amanda asked, not getting Ryan's motive in giving it to her. According to how she normally handle his money, it should be put into Ryan's account next week, for his future.

"Mom, you will finish college in 5 months and I want to employ you to handle my legal issues. I am bound to do a lot of stuff and I can only trust you to make everything smooth for me, this check is meant to be your first year's paycheck." Ryan replied seriously, never breaking eye contact with his mother, hoping to make her understand his determination.

"Ryan, you understand that your mom didn't study the specifics about Hollywood's working right ?" replied Amanda, dumbfounded by her son's request.

"Mom, I know your Bachelor was in Politics, Law and Economics, it is meant to form you to lead so with this base and some self study I am sure my outstanding mother can beat every old geezer in Hollywood. Besides, I am not going to shoot any movie before I am 18 years old so you have a lot of time to hone your skills." Ryan replied confidently, knowing perfectly how smart his mother was.

Amanda just looked at her son, not knowing what to think about it all when she heard her mother's voice.

"Dear, you should listen to your son, it is very a very... uncommon situation but we can all see his future prospect are not bound to common sense either." Sarah said, barely withholding her laughs seeing this very funny and unique scene before her.

"I am with your mother for this one dear, why should you go to work for a stranger when you could help your son in his dreams. Besides, even if Ryan's next couple of works turns out to be utter failures he could still take you as an employee until you're a grandmother, considering the hype going on about an anonymous six years old author writing a bestseller. Hahahahahaha !" ending his point with a crazy laugh, Robert sided with Ryan and Sarah.

"'Sigh', not you too dad... fine, I will take charge of your matters, not like I was not already doing it already but from now on it will be my main concern. But, besides my dedication to laws related to entertainment, do not expect anything to change, little ruffian" Amanda gave in, ruffling Ryan hairs while smiling.

"I would not expect anything else mom !" Ryan replied, rejoicing at the first pillar of his future business empire joining him.

"Well guys, there is still dessert to take so let's all go back to sit and I will bring it to you" Sarah got everyone's attention and they got back to Christmas celebrations.

Months passed and some things happened, Ryan turned 7 years old on the 7th of February 1997 and he wrote a new book, after thinking a lot about his options he chose "Jurassic Park", it's not in line with his plan to make as little waves as possible but he can only go for it now that his mother is worried about him. Besides, he figured that the copyrights of the movie adaptation were a lot more precious than the book sales so even if it's sales are not up to what it could have been, it's not the end of the world.

What's more, money is bound to never be a problem to Ryan, in a couple of years he will buy cheap shares from companies like Microsoft, Apple or Cisco, coupled with opportunities like Bitcoins and market crashes, he will literally be rolling in money.

On this note, Ryan is waiting for the 1979's Oil shock to make his first bucket of gold.

Going back on track, "Jurassic Park" was more tiring for Ryan to write because he had to adapt some things to make the book more coherent with 1977, like the dates or the technology used in "Jurassic Park"'s world.

So, on March of 1977, the novel was on sale, this time Ryan got 15% royalties from Bantam Books and if he wants more in the future it will be difficult, he would basically have to open his own publishing house, however Ryan find it not worth it as his focus will be on Hollywood.

Then, school year came to an end on June, his mother got her Bachelor and he will now be with 13 years old kids next year.

Meanwhile, they got a call from Blake Edwards and the preparations for '10' are coming to an end, the shooting will start from the beginning of August. It will take place mostly in Mexico, like the original, Amanda is not too excited about this, considering Mexico's reputation but taking into account the crew and their experience she figured that it will be fine.

As for Ryan, he is on cloud nine,he now posses all the necessary knowledge a film's director should have but only knowledge will not be enough, he have to experience a real movie being shot, '10' will be his stepping stone to greatness.
