Chapter 87: More about Babs (86)

Bella sat under a tree eating her lunch as Fred sat near by. She pulled out her book to pass her lunch time.

◇◇◇♡♡♡◇◇◇ THE THREE LITTLE MEN IN THE WOOD

Once upon a time there lived a man, whose wife had died; and a woman, also, who had lost her husband: and this man and this woman had each a daughter.

These two maidens were friendly with each other, and used to walk together, and one day they came by the widow's house.

Then the widow said to the man's daughter, "Do you hear, tell your father I wish to marry him, and you shall every morning wash in milk and drink wine, but my daughter shall wash in water and drink water."

So the girl went home and told her father what the woman had said, and he replied, "What shall I do? Marriage is a comfort, but it is also a torment."

At last, as he could come to no conclusion, he drew off his boot and said: "Take this boot, which has a hole in the sole, and go with it out of doors and hang it on the great nail and then pour water into it. If it holds the water, I will again take a wife; but if it runs through, I will not have her."

The girl did as he bid her, but the water drew the hole together and the boot became full to overflowing. So she told her father how it had happened, and he, getting up, saw it was quite true; and going to the widow he settled the matter, and the wedding was celebrated.

The next morning, when the two girls arose, milk to wash in and wine to drink were set for the man's daughter, but only water, both for washing and drinking, for the woman's daughter. The second morning, water for washing and drinking stood before both the man's daughter and the woman's; and on the third morning, water to wash in and water to drink were set before the man's daughter, and milk to wash in and wine to drink before the woman's daughter, and so it continued.

Soon the woman conceived a deadly hatred for her step-daughter, and knew not how to behave badly enough to her from day to day. She was envious, too, because her step-daughter was beautiful and lovely, and her own daughter was ugly and hateful.

Before David took Babs home he took her for a early lunch at a cafe on the way.

He wanted to get to know her a little more. Babs was very pretty and was tall for a girl at about 5 foot 6 inches. She was thin so you could not tell right now she was pregnant. She had a little more red in her hair than Bella did and her eyes were a deep brown.

"Tell me more about yourself." He asked.

"Not sure what to say. I was not a very nice person in the past. I used my family and partied to much. Thanks to Bella I woke up and decided to be a better person. I took over her volunteer work at the hospital and the animal shelter so she can study. So I don't really work."

"Do you like volunteering?"

"I never thought I would but yes I do. I really enjoy the animals. I am hoping that a pay position is soon available."

"Your eye light up. I think that is cute. "

Babs blushed. "What do you teach?"

"Business, I am the head of the business department."

"Head, you look so young to be the head." She said.

He laughed again, "You... you really want to know... I'm 48 years old and you?"

"I'm 25 that's 13 years different." She felt a little sad now.

"Does that bother you?" He asked.

"Why would it. Your just taking me home right?"

"Oh, I guess so. I was hoping though you might want to go out." He said.

Her eyes once again lit up. "You mean it, even though I am in my condition?"

"It doesn't bother me, you are a beautiful woman and I would like to get to know you better."

Ben completed the audit. This one was now 64 million off. So with the two so far 118.4 million. Josh placed the info in the folder and handed Ben the next project file that this manger was in charge of.

"Can We take a break. My head is hurting." Ben said.

"It's almost one lets go have some lunch." Josh suggests.

They left and walked down for hamburgers and frys. "These are the best burgers in town." Ben said.

"I think so too." Josh agreed.

"Josh... are you all right?" Ben said noticing that Josh had been a little quite today.

"Yah, I got a call from My Dad this morning. It has been a few years since I have talked to him. He wanted to make sure I was taking care of my brother." Josh put his hamburger down.

"There more to it isn't it?" Ben said taking his hand.

"He did not even ask how I was doing..."He then thought back to earlier.

Josh looked at his phone as it rang. It was his father. It has been 6 years since he had talked to him.

'Dad what do I owe the pleasure?" Josh said answering the phone.

"Your brother is moving to your area. Make sure you take care of him and Sally."

"I will. How are you doing?"

"That's all I called for." With that he hung up.

Josh was left looking at the phone. His father would never change.

Ben listen to the event that happened this morning and could feel the hurt Josh was feeling.

"I'm sorry. Why is your father like that?" Ben asked.

"He hates my life choices. When I came out he cut me off. The last time I seen him was at Mikey's wedding and he left because I was there. He told George that it was my mom's fault for the way I turned out. I was really close to my mom and choose to live with her instead of Dad. My brothers stayed with Dad."

"Josh remember for one I'm here for you and so is my family. Also I think Mike is on your said."

"Mikey and George have always been on my side. They were the ones who asked me to tell Dad. I am thankful for them. But after that we only spend once a year together at Mom's."

They finished up there lunch and was walking back, "Let's take the rest of the day off. I still have a headache and you need cheering up." Ben said.

"I'll ask Zane. But we really need to finish this audit." Josh said.

Ben took his hand as they walked. "I'll talk to Zane. I need a break too."

Zane was reading some files when Ben came in. He explained what was going on.

"Take the rest of the day and tomorrow off. Start fresh on Monday." Zane said.

Ben then took Josh home. Tonight he would make garlic steak with the works and watch a movie together.
