Chapter 19: Title of Mage
Dozens of figures blurred, Including Ra and Bast as they entered the portal.
It didn't transport them anywhere when they passed through but rather it seemed to pull something from within thenselves, A few recruits had some sort of glittering pattern reflected in their skin.
Some were much more dramatic, directly affecting the space and objects close to them.
Others- showed no phenomenon at all and only stood there gazing at their hands or watching the others.
Meanwhile Bast was afflicted by visions- She hovered in the air her eyes flickering a dense golden light.
The aura she gave off was dense causing fluctuations in the surrounding space, when it seemed as if she would absorb the world the fluctuations stopped, her eyes returned to normal and she landed gracefully like a cat on the floor.
She blinked twice and stared down at her arms, at the dense magical energy flowing out of her, drawing gasps from the crowd.
"Such talent."
"Amazing."
"Incredible."
Shock, surprise and even awe was on the faces of all present.
Grandmaster Flores hurried over to her.
"Girl, How would you like to become my disciple?" he asked amiably.
"Grandmaster, What is happening?"
"It seems you've never witnessed or experienced a magical awakening before, at least not one of this scale, very well I shall explain it to you all." He proclaimed, beaming.
"Magical Aptitude, What is it? It is the bodies innate grasp towards spells, When Magical Aptitude is high, A Slayer can choose to become a Mage and learn dragonslaying spells. They gain immense control over mana and can even attain the power to shape the world itself gaining a minor connection to the land.
Magic Affinity is the natural ability to comprehend magic, This does not increase or decrease in a lifetime, it has nothing to do with talent, merely a measure of your connection to magic from birth."
Grandmaster Flores continued to lecture.
"Young Lady, Your Magic Affinity and Magical Aptitude is truly the highest I've ever seen, In the future they will call you The Great Devourer, Due to your appetite for magic and mana energy alone." He said, a pleased expression on his face.
Bast nodded.
"Then, Please take this untalented one as your disciple." she said humbly.
Beaming- Grandmaster Flores helped her up, fixing her hair by combing his fingers gently through it, his smile grew wider, accepting her as his disciple.
"From today onward, You are a Mage." he said in a measured breath.
"You will begin as a Basic Adept, Your Master, I, Am already a Epic Exalted level Mage." he said proudly.
And he continued to discuss with her to the delight of the surrounding crowd about the various stages and levels mages ascend throughout their career.
Meanwhile, Ra was still rejecting the magic power trying to leak through his pores, it fought against him straining for release, it was power he didn't want, He was a physical combatant, he roared inside his chest pushing back against himself.
"No Spells!" he yelled inside his mind
The pressure began to ease, receding back into his bloodstream, the sweat poured off of him in waves, and he nearly collapsed, Bast noticed his distress and rushed over to support him, but Ra was already asleep.
