Chapter 2: Get Out
Lexi screamed in horror, "Who are you?What are you doing here?"
This didn't wake up the stranger and just made him hold her tighter. He said, "Sweetheart, please let me sleep for a moment and don't move around that much, alright."
This made her really angry. The nerve of this man. First, he sleeps besides her and then tries to silence her. She said with a hint of irritation in her voice,"Hey wake up, you creep. Who are you calling sweetheart? Get up and get out you b*stard. Nurse, doctor, anybody get this man out of here."
Hearing the commotion, Ezra woke up from the deep slumber he was in. The doctors and nurses came in and tried to calm Lexi down. They asked Ezra to move out and he would be informed about the situation when they check up on her.
He moved out of the room and thinking about the things that Lexi called him made his strength crumble. He didn't know what the situation was and that was what scared him. His wife didn't recognize him and he had no control over the situation. Then, the realisation hit him that he had lost control of his life three years back. Today, just made him realise how much.

Inside the room, Lexi was questioning the doctors about the stranger who was sleeping in her bed with her but she didn't get a reply.
They told her that they would tell her after her check up.
First, they asked her to move her fingers and then her toes. Then, they asked her to rotate her eyes.
Doctor: What is your name?
Lexi: Lexi Harrington.
Doctor: Mother's name?
Lexi: Alicia Harrington
Doctor: Father's name
Lexi: Duke Harrington
Doctor: Your birthday
Lexi: 25 October
Doctor: Do you know why you are here?
Lexi: I just remember that I was on my way to somewhere when someone crashed their car into mine. After that, I don't remember anything.
Doctor: And when was that? Can you please tell me the exact date?
Lexi: 7 July, 2016
Doctor: Alright, now the last question and then we can talk about your condition. Do really have no recollection of the man that was just in your room?
Lexi: No. Why are you asking me that? Who is he? Should I remember him?
Doctor: Please try. Think about him and see if it jogs up your memory.
Lexi tried to do what the doctor asked her to. She started thinking about the man. However, she could not remember him. Now, her head was aching and she felt like she was suffocating. Suddenly, the heart rate monitor began to beat erratically. She had gone into a cardiac arrest. Fortunately, the doctors Ezra hired were the top physicians in the world and they were successfully able to bring her back. Now, it looked like she was resting peacefully and nobody could have been able to guess what had happened just a few minutes ago.
The doctors left the room when they saw that the patient was stabilised. They had to talk to her husband and warn him about the consequences of triggering the patient.

Outside the ICU
Ezra was pacing around, anxiously waiting for the doctors to come out of the room. He had heard some commotion a while ago and he wanted to see if Lexi was alright but he was stopped by the nurses. His icy glare scared them but they still not budge. They calmly informed him to wait for the doctors to update him.
He was going to go mad if they didn't come out soon.
At that moment, they exited the ICU and were headed towards him.
"How is she?" he asked anxiously.
" Her body is in perfect working condition but she has suffered a mental trauma. She has selective amensia. That is her brain is suppressing some of her memories, all which are related to you. It seems like her brain is trying to protect her. At this stage, asking her to remember you can lead to her death. She went into cardiac arrest just now trying to remember you. So, it would be for the best if you don't reveal your identity to her. As soon as she wakes up, we'll inform you but it would be best if you are absent. You could someone from her family to be there for her. After that, we would advice you to take her to a therapist. She doesn't remember you but you could take her to the environment she is used to and all the places she likes. That can help in such cases. You can meet her but please don't reveal your identity. I can't stress that enough."
With that the doctors left.
Ezra was relieved to hear that his wife was fine physically but it was painful for him to hear that the years and memories he cherished the most were the ones that his wife had forgotten. He had finally gotten his wish but it was bitter sweet. He felt like it was a curse of God.
To be so close to someone you deeply loved and cared about but not being able to show that love was cruel.
Even after that, he wasn't ready to give up. His life had no meaning if she wasn't in it. So, he would fight till his last breath to be with her. He was determined to make her fall for him again. And to do that he needed help.
He picked up his phone and called the only person who could do that.
The call went through and a melodious voice rang out, " Hello"
He replied, "Sister-in-law, I need help."
